If any one wants some Kelp tablets for the price of postage then please pm me. I started them a few days back but have had the worst intestinal cramps with them (one of the side effects listed) so have stopped them. So a practically full bottle up for grabs.
My kitchen is still registering 28 degrees, it's daft."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Evening all,
Sorry to those of you who are uncomfortable, or have uncomfortable little ones in this heat.
Bunbun--great news!
I'm pleased to report that some of the spinach seems to be rallying. I think I'll loose some of it, but there should still be plenty. Presuming OH doesn't managed to off it while I'm away.I've just been out admiring my one spicy pepper that is growing and the various blooms and buds. OH is impressed by the courgette's progress, but I'm a bit worried that it is still too far behind. Just have some buds on the largest of the three now. Here's hoping for a bit of an Indian summer to see it to its finish!
Anyway, can't stop in long. A cool and restful night's sleep to you all!0 -

Thank you hun, he's currently sleeping soundly after doing some exercises given by the consultant to ease his pain/wind, giving him some more fluids and pain relief
He's cows milk protein intolerant and although that's not a big thing we didn't find out until he was 9 weeks after really struggling since birth. The damage done during breast feeding (gosh don't I feel guilty!) means he has persistent colitis, muscle damage/weakness in his bowel and still suffers form colic type symptoms. The heat seams to aggravates things and being less hydrated doesn't help either....it's not easy forcing a baby to drink!
He's on special formula now and medication. Luckily it should all get better over time and he should grown out of the intolerance but until then we have good days and bad

Sarah: Poor little soul, and poor you too. It's so difficult to keep babies cool isn't it? Much easier to keep them warm.
DS and DIL2B take Mia down to the beach in the evenings. They've bought her a little blow-up dinghy and DS tows her out to sea in it. She loves it and sits there like a queen, occasionally giving a regal wave to the watchers on the beach. Then they dip her in and out of the sea which is nice and warm at the end of the day, wrap her in a towel and walk the 100 yards home. Lucky little girl.
I am also a weirdo. Only in the matter of liking sprouts you understand. Heaven forfend that you should think me a weirdo for any other reason.
The children at school hated sprouts until we referred to them as baby cabbages and I sprinkled them with vinegar, which somehow seems to take the bitter taste out of them.
Well, we have a wedding at church tomorrow. I've noticed that weddings during the week are becoming more popular, I guess it's cheaper then. This morning the Rev and I put 100 white seat covers on the chairs and tied 100 silvery-grey chiffon sashes round the backs with a huge bow at the back. The heat was wicked and we were cream crackered and glowing like pigs by the time we had finished. The Rev always goes the extra mile for weddings and makes the church look magical. We have an archway at the begining of the aisle, covered in white flowers and green foliage and tomorrow the church will be enhanced by many fans collected from the four corners of the island.
"How did the wedding go?"
"Oh, it was lovely, there was a force8 gale in the church."
I've done nothing, NOTHING, that I intended for today. The 'to-do' list will have Wednesday crossed out and Thursday inscribed in its place. It just doesn't recognise the unexpected visitors, long counselling type phone calls and the Rev shouting, "Have you got a minute?"
Sigh...........

I was up pretty early too, mainly because I forgot last night I promised to put a water bottle in the freezer for DD, so I thought I'd better get up and do it! Hope you found some respite from the heat Jem. Yesterday was definitely the hottest so far for us.
Well today is Year 6 Leaver's Assembly so I have tissues at the ready. I might be OK by myself but if everyone around me starts blubbing I won't stand a chance! Much to DS's disgust no doubt.0 -
another one suffering sleep deprivation because of the heat, but what I do is during the day if I get a chance I will sit with my feet up in my relaxer chair (best thing I ever bought)and put t.v. on low and nod off in no time .unless I am knitting at the same time t.v. bores me rigid so i do find even half an hours nap beneficial.
monnagran my DGS call brocolli 'baby tree' as their Mum told them that was what it was:):) if it works and gets veg down them its worth it
Today I have my pre-op assessement at the hospital. The letter said it should take two hours !!! so I shall take my library book and a bottle of cold water to drink.Hospitals are always far too hot I think, so this weather it will be uncomfortable
Just seen the long range forecast for the south-east looks like next week it will be even hotter
Hope the weather lasts into August as we are all off to the Isle of Wight for a fortnight.
have a cool day chums

Morning Toughies, another sultry night and early awakening, 4.30am is the coolest part of the day so I flung wide the curtains and hung out of the window. I actually got cool, wonderful stuff. The housework is done except for the vacuuming, it's a little early for that and He Who Knows and his boy are out for a walkies before it gets too hot, then He Who Knows is off to the lottie for a spell of maintenance and picking.
SARAH I have a great sympathy for your problems with your poor little one, my youngest DD was totally dairy allergic from birth and seemed to get a huge reaction to many colourings in use then and also to some additives commonly used in food manufacturing. She could have soya milk but that didn't totally agree with her either and we had a very fraught time until she grew through the allergy at the age of 7. You do get used to the regieme though and as they get older it gets easier but you have to be so vigilant and read every label every time you buy anything in case the ingredients have been changed, not easy pet, but doable. She found life less uncomfortable after she started walking, I guess her tummy was less painful as it wasn't squished in any way as it is when you sit. I hope today is better for you both but it's going to be an even hotter one according to the weather forecast, good luck pet!
I'm off up to the polytunnel and veg plot to pick whatever needs picking before it turns into a sauna out there, stay cool everyone, catch you later, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
