No tree here we can't find it. It is not in the under stair cupboard which is full of the hoover and two tool boxes.
It has got to be in DS's wardrobe but he will not look. As I can't find anywhere to put it we will have to do with the two 5 inch high ones on the mantle piece.
Had builders to paint the area where they repaired the ceiling this morning. Bright white on a magnolia ceiling! not sure I would not rather have the hole back they only painted 2 square feet!
Never got to Ald! yesterday DS was busy so now waiting for his almost sit upon hair. to dry.0 -
You all seem to be well on with your present wrapping. All mine done except for DS2's family and as they are not coming up until the 29th Mrs Procrastinator here has decided they can wait until after Christmas. Also the couple of little things for the Rev, one of which is destined to be opened in church on Christmas morning. That is a plaque which bears the words "I am a good girl with bad habits." This should be a treat for the congregation, if not for the Rev.
Today I have to write a story for the Rev to read at the crib service tomorrow. She couldn't find one she liked in the dozens of Christmas story books we have so would I write one. Of course. What else have I got to do?

Write a story? oh dear. See, you amused for so long as editor she knows you will do the job perfectly, with your slant on humour combined with her message. I do not envy you though.
Fresh stuff was bought last night. We went to the supermarket in town and although it's an expensive supermarket it was done with ease and enjoyment. Thank goodness. We did get 3 chocolate croissants reduced to 22p each so, rather indulgently, I had a lie in and we had those and hot chocolate (squirty cream 'cos it's Christmas) for breakfast.
The band were playing Christmas songs outside the store last night and I could feel the happiness creep in. I can't say I am overly excited today but the organisation/stress part is over and now it's the girls' turn to inject the happiness along with spending time together, making stuff etc.
Finally we made our pull crackers yesterday. They are fab, complete with candy cane, chocolate coins, jokes written by the girls, glitter and the bang from the craft store. They would never pass H&S in school craft making as they are from loo rolls but we're very happy and looking forward to covering Dad with glitter when we pull 'em.
We are making mince pies later but cheating with frozen fish and chips for tea as I am doing a few care calls come 8pm.
Tomorrow the whole family will descend on the office with other carers and their families for mince pies and a whole lot of merriment. Looking forward to it although will have to try very hard to refrain from tidying my new desk:rotfl: I begin the new role January 8th.
Not sure if I told you but I have Christmas day off this year. I will be out Christmas Eve evening. I will try my best to leave each household with whatever it is that is required to give them a little lift. One gent I am visiting will be very low as he lost his wife Christmas Eve last year. I am trying to think of some parting words that will help him get through Christmas Day.
It is but just a day. I won't be going into it thinking that somehow, magically, all the woes, worries and stress will disappear and be replaced with happy, fulfilment and warmth without any effort at all. Christmas, just like life, requires positive thinking, effort, tolerance, time management and a smile.

Sorry if this has been asked a million times already - if I roast a turkey joint today, can I then reheat it later, like tomorrow or xmas day?0
-
Afternoon all -
Mar - if you are meaning to reheat the joint whole I wouldn't recommend it as it will be so dry by the time it is hot enough in the middle. What you could do it roast and then cool (as quick as possible but not in the fridge) and then reheat as slices in gravy. You do need to be very careful though as turkey has a tendency to be a dry meat to start with.
Just waiting now for my parents to arrive - they are due at about 2 for afternoon tea/buffet so we can do Christmas part 1 with them. We try to split pressies up as the kids can't cope with too much at once so will be doing ours with them today just for the afternoon then going to theirs for New Year to do proper time without the distractions of presents.
Hope everyone all doing ok - catch you all later - Hx0 -
Mar, just butting in to say that I cook my turkey tomorrow and will slice it up, or as much as we need when it is cold. Then I wrap in foil enough for us all, plonk in a shallow tin and put on the bottom of the oven for a bit while the other stuff is cooking. I haven't poisoned anyone yet, and it isn't too dry.
Can't cook the meat on Christmas Day and my fussy mum is vegan and won't eat anything if it has been within a few feet of the meat.0 -
Will cook ours tomorrow, always have it cold0

I am not allowed to decorate the room needs completely stripping and decorating. The thing with rented houses you have to return them to what they were. The average amont of different papers in each room is 4 but the living room already has 6 so when they come back after Christmas they are going to replace the paper on one strip. The chances are they will not find a paper like the one already on the ceiling. That will make 7 different wallpapers in the room.
It would take weeks to take the paper off they have been painted over constantly for the last 30 or 40 years. There are patches were they did the rewiring. I put pictures over some of them. I cannot return it to how it was before we moved in, when I move out.
We have been struggling just to get enough to eat for the last three months. We can't afford to decorate even if it were possible.
Lyn went to Berlin, Sheila. I expect she is back but will be busy.0 -
[QUOTE=Softstuff;67288706
I've made 33 mince pies. Do you think that's enough yet???[/QUOTE]
I can top that Softstuff. I made 52 on Sunday. I made Christmas pudding vodka and then used the decanted fruit mixed with ordinary mince pie filling to make them. I have had to freeze them so that there will be some left for Christmas as OH seems to think that mince pies need to be eaten straight away.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.
