The brain fog was horrendous, I wasn't tired - I was exhausted and my heart beat was so slow and laboured I was only happy when I was asleep. That is all I wanted to do, sleep and I had a five year old.
They can certainly have a nasty effect on you...
If you're not happy, go back to your doctors and ask for a review of the meds. I hope you're feeling better soon. xx
Thanks for telling me your troubles on beta blockers too, you sound exactly like me with your symptoms , but im now starting to feel a bit better now ive halfed the pill, like you say its definitely slowed my heart rate down as well..........One good thing thing my foot is healing nicely and I go to hospital Monday to have stitches out , still cant stand on foot but it will be ok in couple months time, thank god I dont have OH to run about after , id never cope right now , he is definitely in the best place..........

Wondercollie - Boys toys eh? I must admit I wouldn't be very pleased. Sorry you didn't get the job, something will be just around the corner for you, so lovely that you can keep your patients it will mean a lot to them.
Kidcat - You are providing for your family, how you do it doesn't really matter as long as it is with love. Look after yourself, as others have said you will be no use if you are ill.
Fuddle - Congratulations on your new job, have you started yet?
Hugs to the poorlies, hope you feel better soon.
We made it to the end of term, horrible behaviour from the little boy with a terrible home life but I suppose school is a safe place for him where he knows the boundaries (doesn't keep to them much though!), home is too unpredictable. I will be glad to see him when term starts next year.
Finished painting my bedroom last night and the flooring has been laid today, it looks lovely. I have rebuilt the bed and made it and will sleep in it tonight as the builders very kindly put up the blind and curtain pole too. Still some odd bits of paint to touch up and the skirting boards to paint but that can wait till after the holidays. All in all I am very pleased.
Have a good weekend.0 -
There, I knew I'd forgotten something this morning! Wondercollie So sorry about the job,and about the pickup truck, but fingers crossed there will be a better job just around the corner. Commiserations about the bullying coworker. I used to know a manager like that. She upset all her staff, but they were all too cowed to get together and complain about her. I did speak to her manager about her treatment of one person in particular, but was told nothing could be done unless the victim herself complained! In the end the bully got promoted and moved to another dept; she did come back later but ended up being medically retired due to stress! She was stressed?
Monnagran I was so pleased to hear about what happened to the people who were so nasty to the Rev. I'm so glad you're able to enjoy your Christmas this year xx
nuttyp What a nice thing to do for your customersI must admit I'm a bit confused as I thought you were going to become manager there; did you decided not to take up the post after all?
To everyone who works in schools: Hope you have a lovely break!0 -
chickens11, Sheila, I wish I could keep my hair plaited for 5 days (well, of course, it's too short now anyway...
) - it's fine thin hair that has loads of wispy bits round the hairline - looks all right the day it's been plaited, but the day after needs re-doing for tidying up the flyaway fiddly bits. I love the pampered feel of having someone else do my hair, even when the children at work 'style' it for me. It usually looks better before the 3 year olds have touched it though... :rotfl: I'm glad you;re starting to feel better with halving the pill.
ivyleaf, we keep our advent calendars and reuse - I keep them in the same box I keep the cards and Christmassy books in so they're easy to find, and this year, used a smaller box that fits in my room instead of stashing in the big box that goes in the loft and looks exactly like the other box of Christmas stuff that goes in the loft... This year, we're re-using one we used for the first time last year that I'd bought in late December from our tourist info place - on the backs of each of the doors are short scripture verses with the picture illustrating the verse. One that comes out every few years is in a Christmas book my mum bought before Baby Sis was born, so is at least 34 years old - very old style!
Errant Husband's Girlfriend thinks I am guilty of cruelty to my boys because I don't give them chocolate advent calendars - since DS1 was unable to eat dairy till he was about 10, and there weren't any non-dairy ones available then, I think it would have been crueller to give him one! Of course DS2 assures me that everyone has a chocolate calendar, and that I am cruel to not let him have one... I said when the United Nation Convention of the Rights of Children put it as one of their articles, I will give it due thought and consideration...
Ventured to the supermarket today in search of food, cat litter and washing powder, and saw my friend and her 3 children there about to have lunch in the cafe, so DS2 and I ate with them, before coming home for more housework. I gave the downstairs loo, hallway, landing and bathroom a good clean today, and vacuumed and mopped the kitchen floor this evening. DS1 is at work tomorrow but off Monday so that's when we'll put the tree up.
DS1 isn't working on Christmas day now - he'd have only been doing 10 till 3 - so we've changed the plans and are now eating lunch at home before going to my parents in the evening, then home again before going back there on Boxing day to see my sisters and their children. Luckily, I can do nut roast for us without having to worry about getting a turkey at this late date.0 -
Still reading along and cheering you all from the wings. Hugs all round to those in need especially kidcat. Get well wishes to poorlies especially Sheila. Will try and get back later to reply more fully - miss my lappy and DH has a work course assignment to do today - suggested time length 12 hours, they are having a laugh.
Big congrats to fuddle!
I am very much in a whirl of getting everything done on time. Cards finally all posted/given out, all local gifts (bar next door) given too and most of Xmas food done, not buying veggies yet and always need more milk and bread. Managed to spend 2nd allidedums voucher mostly on winter store cupboard much to amusement of cashier, endless tins of pots, beans, soup, passata etc through the checkout. 20% off too good to miss and DH got paid same day.
Cards received still in a pile, house in need of a complete tidy and clean (tomorrow's job) and still need to wrap the kids (hopefully start that tonight) and DH's can be wrapped whilst he is at work.
I intended to make: xmas pud, xmas cake, teachers' gifts and other bits and have bought all (except cake, not bothering, stolen will do and kids love it too, far cheaper). DH has made 2nd lot of mince pies and most are gone so.... 3rd time lucky!!
kidcat: sending you big, warm hugs and asking you to do one last thing for others.... I know I speak for everyone here when I say.... please be kind to yourself, please cut every corner you can and just leave the rest. As long as there is food for humans and cats and kids have some pressies, everything else can just hang. I will have a better Christmas knowing you are ok.... so if you can't do this for yourself, do it for us on the doorstep who will worry about you and care about you so much.0 -

But stealing it would be much cheaper :rotfl:! And if you went to prison for stealing Christmas cake, you wouldn't have to do any entertaining people...
DS1 wasn't in work till noon today, so came to church with DS2 & me. DS2 did lots of grumping about my refusal to let him & an 8 year old play football during the service with a fabric covered foam block, arguing that the toys are there to be played with. I do appreciate that he needs clear & specific guidance, so we've sat & made a list. However, mutter mutter mutter, since he told me what to write in each column (can do/can't do in church service), I'm pretty sure he knew he shouldn't be playing football in church!
Did rehearsal for nativity service for Wednesday afternoon, so we didn't leave till after 12. DS2 didn't want to go back this afternoon for the carol service, & I must admit, it's been easier not having to keep an eye on the time.
So after lunch, I gave his baritone horn a much needed bath, & it's all working now. Hoping to hear some practice over the holiday! Then trimmed the pvc tablecloth length of Christmas material I got in the r@nge to fit the table better (mainly curving the corners for our oval table), before moving things round the house so the tree will fit.
Small desk up to DS2's room, where it will stay, replacing the child's plastic desk a friend gave me years ago (offering desk to sisters, if they don't want it, it will go to preschool), Lego boxes to DS2's room till twelfth night. DS2'a room rearranged so he can sleep in his bed, get to the bookcase, & still have room to play (impressed with myself!).
Freestanding fan back to my room till the summer, & Warhammer stuff tidied up. There is now room for the tree... Rest of the living room still looks a mess though, & needs sorting before being cluttered up with more stuff.0 -
Evening all
Festive greetings from a grumpy SDG. I managed to put my back out on Friday and literally rolled out of bed yesterday morning. Add in lots of cuddles with a quite gorgeous, yet surprisingly heavy niece and I've spent today leaning over and then instantly regretting it.
DH has wrapped all the presents apart from DS2's. After 3 days of baking and cooking most of the Christmas goodies have been given out. Only mince pies and shortbread to bake on Tuesday.
DS1 is home from Uni for the holidays so I am a happy Mom at the moment. He is actually appreciating my cooking and having laundry done. Christmas miracles will never cease.
Much love, hugs and best wishes to everyone xxxxxxxxx0 -
hi everyone, ivyleaf - sorry forgot to explain myself. I am deputy manager of the bookies now. Another shop closed, so the manager from there was transferred into the shop I work in. It was a non busy place the complete opposite of where I am.
We visited OH nans grave today to put flowers on, was at Norwich. We had a wander around and had a cuppa. Major panic buying in progress, but not by me.
hows everyone else doing???BSC member 137
