Possession would your DS eat breakfast bars like Belvita for his brekkie? Plenty of varieties, and the choccy ones are delish and easy to munch whilst on his way? They are often on offer too ;)

He might well fancy a continental breakfast Stilty if it was nice bread. (Aargh, I'm going to have to start baking bread again aren't I?!). Floss I have tried him with one breakfast biscuit only (or Aldi equivalent) and he didn't like it at all, and doesn't like chocolate flavour. I'm reluctant to buy more as nobody else will eat them, but I need to do something. I suspect it's going to end up with me baking more. You must be able to bake the equivalent of a breakfast biscuit he'd like. I expect he'd like a cheese one. Actually (and I'm garbling here, sorry!) I wonder if he'd like cheese and crispbread?

Possesion how about savoury scones? Mixed cheese say or cheese and herb? again easy to eat and if they are (and he will eat!) part wholemeal then slow release carbs as well
    Must use my stash up!

He would eat cheese or a sausage roll, but I'd rather he didn't for breakfast.

Hello all - here i am popping up again

Is a sausage roll that bad? cheese certainly isn't. My DS gets up too late to eat much for breakfast (he is nearly 16 so there is little i can do to make him get up earlier to eat - other than nag) he will drink a glass of juice (down in one ) and eat a lump of aldi chocolate brioche. I would think that is far unhealthier than cheese and sausage rolls (or drolls as we say in our house). After all it was Mr Kellog who said we all had to eat sweet cereals for breakfast ;)

We have had lunch issues with DS but compromised now where we cook a part baked baguette first thing (takes 8 mins in the halogen) and do that for his lunch - but potentially could cook 2 if he would eat one for breakfast too. However he eats this at his morning break at 10.30 ish (with homemade cake as well) and then eats a cheese and ham toasty when he gets home at 3.30. This does seem to work for him - he is a strapping 6' footballer so also needs to eat A LOT.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

VJ'smum, no cheese is not bad but he eats a LOT of cheese and it gets expensive apart from anything else. Perhaps I just need to be grateful for anything he eats at the moment. Feels like we've slipped back to when he was two and would only eat fruit. Though ironically, given he was an apple monster up to six months ago, he barely eats any fruit now either.
Knit Witch yes he would like scones. I will have to bake more.

    Hi all

softstuff I feel your embarrassment not done that but regularly forget card when shopping. Ended up using DSs emergency fund yesterday because I took my card out of my purse for identity purposes on the phone to Npower on Thursday. That is why they have cocked it up again I phoned to complain about their last mistake. Happens every time.

If anyone has a spare week Google Npower and complaints. I am sure it is in contention for most incompetent company in the world. There can't be a worse one can there?

Kidcat now I know what pda is I realise you must have struggled with it for years. My mind went straight to the thought of him being in work. How on earth will they be able to get him to do anything. I hope he does not have DSs problems he will never get on with the job centre and the DWP it is all orders qualified with threats. I hope you can find help.

possession guess what I found my postcodes on my old pension pay slips got them out for my national insurance number. I have had the same problems with DS over food he does not like anyone elses cooking but mine and he he does not like sandwiches that have been made hours ago. He has the same attitude as yours to cereal only one he will eat and it is very difficult to find. I am reminding you about the banana cake.

He has eaten sausage and cheese rolls, ham, sandwiches, etc for breakfast. I cook him a breakfast when I know I am going to be gone all day at the hospital. I have been known to be gone over 12 hours for a ten minute appointment. I give him bacon sandwiches, scrambled eggs on toast, beans on toast, mainly just look for a quick to prepare reasonably priced source of protien. It is not to worrying if they don't eat lunch then.

Having been left with no money and only two pizzas for 8 days last year when I had my op. He now eats most things put in front of him whether he likes them or not. It is amazing what a week of starvation will do for anyone.

fuddle your day sounds lovely. I miss walks on the beach.

mrsdwhite Pity we are at opposite ends of the country. We could both come and help. DS all the hours you need. I am a bit slow cancer having aged me about 20 years but I could work for my dinner.

SQ not surprised you had indigestion it would more likely be the stress of the last few days than the food.

Camelot Your decorating your bedroom has reminded me. When DD was at uni she rang me in the week and said "What are you doing on Saturday?"

When I told her decorating my bedroom and taking deliver of a new bed she said she liked decorating she would come and help.

We put all the furniture in the middle of the room, no bed, and covered it with dust sheets. She started cutting in on the ceiling and I did the same on the walls. She unscrewed the pull cord light fitting and gave a little scream the same happened when she came to the light fitting.

"Whats the scream for?" I asked.

"In case there is a spider in there" came the reply.

I could not do any painting for laughing for the next hour.

No incidents so far today don't expect any on a Sunday.

I think the problems we are having are typical of the reason most people who go to food banks go to them. They expect you to live on absolutely nothing what so ever for months on end and take your relatives benefits away too. I do wonder how many slip through the net like us because you have to have someone like a social worker to refer you. You cannot just walk in. Not that I know where they are.

    Excuse me while I scream!!

You can have things go wrong on a Sunday having obtained my post codes I tried to log in. Not my password. Seeing as you can only have your birth date I ought to know it by now I have only had it 68 years feels like hundreds lately.

I tried registering again as I had only filled in our names and had to stop at addresses. I am registered. Can't be they do not have any real details.

Excuse me while I scream twice when I clicked go advance I got my last post.

I did not just edit I thought it was the post I just did in fact I am sure it was the post I just did, that was when it disappeared. Where has the smile banging it's head against a wall gone?

Second scream!! Having got my post codes I went back to continue registering for housing. Not right password? Must be you are only allowed your birth date. I have only had it 68 years I should know it by now. feels like hundreds.

Can anyone explain to me why when someone phones me and I can not know who they are, they then ask "For security purposes, could you give me your birthday" I thought that was secure?

I am giving out my birthday hundreds of timed a day to people I do not know. I think they need to set something up so they prove who they are.

I thought, did not do much on application need to restart. N I am already registered. with someone else's birth date.

I had hoped to have that in today so it could start being processed before we end up being homeless. You are not encouraged to look after yourself are you.

Before we came here we were told to wait until we ran out of money and stop paying the rent. I could not have done that to my landlady she was the only one who came to look after me. She cleaned the house and sorted lots of things out.

We only came here to avoid that we do not know here and DS 39 is being obnoxious. I thought I was making progress.
  • Nursemaggie thats a lovely thought but I wouldn't wish this job on anyone!

Today has been a nightmare. I had offered to work a few hours as DD6 was out at her friends house, though she was dropped home hours earlier than planned. Meaning I was stuck at work and it was busy with no one to cover as someone called in sick yet again. I had to leave DD on her own whilst I was trying to get someone to come and sit with her, eventually MIL reluctantly came to sit with her until 5:30, so my initial 3 hour shift turned into a 6 hour shift as I stayed late to let DH have 20 mins to have something to eat. I couldn't let him go another day of no break at all.
DH sent some messages to the boss today basically saying this can't carry on and he won't do it anymore. His boss is really good and understanding and has agreed to help DH re write his CV and apply for other jobs.
I've just contacted an old friend of ours who is a regional manager for another restaurant chain, he has also agreed to help. Fingers crossed this will all come together quite quickly now.
I'd leave tomorrow if I could, I've reached the point now that I have simply had enough, but I can't go until DH does :-/
Feeling like the worst mother now for leaving DD on her own today, what an awful thing to do. I'm damned if I do one thing and damned if I do another!

I'm sorry for venting on here like this - but it does help to get it out somewhere safe and with lovely people :-)

Nurse Maggie hugs, I can only imagine your frustration and despair

Mrsdwhite, you are doing the very best you can in very difficult circumstances. My cousins have brought themselves up as my uncle and wife run the business leaving the kids all day and evening with the minimum of supervision. The difference is the parents aren't at all worried about it and think it's perfectly reasonable.

Well we have the new car, it's big certainly! Kids love her and she drives ok too. Had a nightmare at the pet shop getting her parked as the whole town seemed to be squashed into a very tiny car park but other than that it's been ok.
