Hello one and all !
Let's just I won the ultimate battle against my ll. Main thing is to stick to your guns. Be a stubborn so and so, repeat the line with the oven being that old it doesn't have instructions etc which if they insist on £200 say no you did provide instructions and if you wish to prove the age I insist on a gas engineer to fully check appliances and to contact the manufacturers to find out the age of the appliance.0 -
Maggie please, please go to cab and contact welfare rights, they have had major cuts but they do have a separate source of funding which is purely regarding housing and benefits. So please don't feel bad to go, honestly the staff are very understanding.
Softstuff I'm the same hun, when im laid up I read on here, may not always post though.
Ended up collasping today, not good but luckily I had money for a taxi for ds2 to get home from school.
Dad came over and we chatted, he's gone down hill again. So he stayed for a few couple of hours watching a film. Then the annoying moo left on his bike while I made dinner. Really worried about him.
So this is the weekend the painting begins. OH has told me off so resting time for me. I will be required to make cheese toasties and Bovril.
Just waiting for painkillers in and hopefully get some sleep.0 -
Good morning to you all, I didn't get the chance to log in yesterday with DH working from home and needing the 'puter - lots to catch up on. Sending hugs all round, excuse me if I don't add names as I am in sleepy mode - despite being awake for ages - don't want to miss anyone out. Had a good day yesterday, few bargains/YS in farmyard foods and liddle lees and so pleased to be able to give one lovely lady a £2.50 off voucher in farmyard fs, she was delighted.
Today is DS8's birthday outing. Choc sponge cakes are baked but I need to make choc fudge topping and decorate. Goodie bags containing mini bags of popcorn, crisps and jelly sweets and a drink to be made up. I have bought paper lunchbags and DS8 is going to write each child's name on and decorate - couple of children can't have something so want to make sure they get individual bags. DS10 is going to help me decorate the cakes so we can surprise DS8 with the final result. Simple - 2 cakes to make an 8! One to be cut up in slices in advance for kids to take home and the other for the pizza place to sing happy birthday. All DS8's friends are very excited as is DS, parties are becoming rarer in their school due to expense. Right off to tackle dinner dishes I couldn't face last night, get some washing on, 2nd coffee and then its the cake.0 -
softstuff so funny! Next time tell your friend to still blame the tenants and note it as 'highly unstable curtain rail, not affixed to the wall" Can't believe I said that :rotfl: All hail the good tenants out there.
I slept well, although awoke early. Last night I was racked with an overwhelming feeling of frustration. It was a physical feeling that I needed to explode. Lots of tears from me with DH telling me stories of alcoholic behaviour he saw growing up in Scotland, when his dad ran a pub. Just very relieved to be physically away. I have to try to get back to living my life and pulling away from it mentally.
So!Christmas things are happening today. We have Santa making a grand entrance in town as well as our light switch on later. The national trust place up the road is now decked out with traditional decorations so I think at some point this weekend we'll have a look there. We may venture into Bournemouth to walk around the gardens that they have lit up. Lots of crafts too with a trip to hobbycraft.
I would very much like to set some traditions for my family. I adored Dean Martin, Nat King Cole etc Christmas songs and until a few years ago I would become very nostalgic when hearing them. I can no longer bare to hear them as it hurts so time for my own family christmas music. I am thinking the happy tones of Michael Buble - I love his version of Jolly Holly Christmas.
Something came over me this morning, in the way of desiring a christmas flavoured coffee so I added a bit mixed spice. It's alright but I think my Christmas treaty tipple may involve sourcing some spiced coffee flavour syrup. I wonder if I can make it? Will investigate
We're having a pork joint with crackling and already stuffed with sage stuffing for our tea tonight. A nice big roast dinner with HM roasties in dripping again (going to dip bread in it this time to see if it's like what my grandma used to give me) yorkshires, veg and gravy.
For lunch I am going to use up those flaming leeks I have left to use and the rest of the streaky bacon from the chowder the other night. Thinking of making a big puff pastry tart.
Er, think I have given myself a rather busy day but it's all things I want to do and looking forward to the day ahead.
Now time to crank up free spotify and find some jazz christmas tunes!0 -
Morning toughies, sending hugs and strength to those that need them.
Am popping through and I don't t think I will get any time this weekend to pop back, dd8 has dress rehearsal all day today for next week's show and tomorrow we finally collect the bus.
Had meeting with school yesterday and it went well, they have made huge changes to accommodate ds10 and his teacher who is relatively new seems very willing to learn. She has modeled all the new strategies on the way I work with ds10. She did drop a bombshell though in that she thinks he needs rediagnosing to add in pda to his mix. Came out the blue and I wasn't prepared, it's hit me much harder than it should. More because I thought we were done with diagnosis and the battles involved, but the future ramifications are huge too.
Have a lovely weekend everyone, stay safe and find a moment for yourselves.0 -

Big (((HUGS))) to you Fuddle x
nursemaggie (((HUGS))) to you and DS as well. Would the Jobcentre not be able to find out the details of the college for him? I know you can't just drop in there any more (or you can't at our local one, anyway) but he could make an appointment to see someone?
Kez Take it easy hon. I'm glad you've been told to rest
kidcat Glad the meeting went well, but sorry you got a nasty shock (((HUGS)))
Goodness, so many hugs needed atm! Thinking of you all xx
I'm waiting for a mattress to be delivered for DS, who's currently snoring away as he was working last night. We had an automated call yesterday to say when it was being delivered; it was so funny, it sounded like several vaguely Eastern European ladies each taking turns to say one or two syllables each, and it missed out the month altogether - "Saturday the Twenty-ninth-of-two-thousand-four-teen-between-oh-nine-twenty-and-one-twenty."
We did get another call at 9.15 from a real person who said it will come between 9.15 and 1.15
I noticed Agros were doing the Kenwood Prospero at half price this weekend so I was cheeky and told OH I'd love one for ChristmasHe managed to get one online to be collected in store :j I have a very good hand mixer (Du@lit) but it's quite heavy and now hurts my wrist to use it. Serves me right, I should have gone for a lighter one in the first place, but I wanted one that would last *rolls eyes* Still, I'm sure DD1 will be pleased to take it off my hands!

I think that every single person affected by jsa or esa sanctions should write, email and go to their MP and complain like hell. That lot won't like the extra workload and will soon moan at their own bosses about. It's the only way to get things done. And after all, they are getting bloody well paid to do it.0

Morning all, thanks for the tips on taking photos when going in to a new let. DD is moving next week so the info is useful. She was very lucky with her previous LL, he paid her for keeping the place nice so that other viewings could take place when she was planning on moving out.Spend less now, work less later.0
