Morning all, burtha yup that's me too. It never rains but it pours.... and sometimes it feels like it daily. I was sorting the rota for next week, and I was asked if I wanted to take a day off - so I jumped at the chance. Monday off yay!!! I am only a few hours short of y complete hours but I have 'banked' some already so pay will be the same.

We washed pooch after his walk last night, he rolled in something smelly. So last night he cuddled up in his blanket and slept very well. All snuggled up and cozy x

time to get ready for work, take care all x

Oh Burtha I'm so sorry your family is having such a difficult time at the moment. My best friend has just been waiting 3 very long weeks for her test results after having a tumour in her mouth removed, and got the all clear. Here's hoping your DD gets similar news, a bit quicker preferably! Do make your own appointment though.
DH is back to work today and the DCs and I have a day completely free of plans. Not even karate today! The house is clean and tidy already but the garden could probably stand a bit of work and there is homework to be done. Mind you by 8am DD had already completed some kind of salt art involving layers of salt in a jar in various garish colours. I haven't checked yet if my kitchen has changed colour.

((((((((((burtha)))))))))) so sorry to hear about your DD's news and so of course you haven't made your own appointment yet. The doc may have given you the absolute worse case scenario but doesn't sound like they have given the best case scenario - many many people get successful treatment for cancer and there is every chance your daughter will be one of them. They haven't even finishing the testing yet so one step at a time. We are all here for you and I am sending positive thoughts and big hugs.

    Hi everyone,

glad you have a well deserved day off coming up nutty

Our household all up bright and early this morning after early nights all round. DH is coldy and went to work in the rain. I did offer a lift to the station but the kids and I weren't dressed so he insisted we stayed home.

Boys have had a very stern talking to by DH backed up by me over their behaviour so hoping for a calmer day today especially as we will be indoors due to rain all day and waiting in for DS10's new mattress which I ordered the other day to coincide with forecasted rain. His old mattress is awful and he can't wait for his new one, same as I ordered for DS7 a few months back.

Well I have scraped through to payday... just! I am fairly pleased with myself although I have a few things including the mattress that need paying for still (but won't incur interest as will pay out of this month's money) and will need to keep an even closer eye on spends for the foreseeable future. DH felt too off colour to go the work do last night so that is another wodge of money saved but as he has stuck to packed lunches for a good while, I suggested he buy a sandwich out today. He is fed up with the same combos so at least can buy something a bit different, lots of cafes and so on nearby.

Today's plan is for boys to do another chunk of homework, DS10 has the biggest he has ever had and its taking hours so have to break down into daily sessions. A baking session also. Boys want to make brownies for the first time (mine too!). I want to get the house more shipshape, it's more shipwreck at the moment! Few other bits and bobs when I remember what they are!

off to despatch clean laundry and dishes to rightful homes... what a glamorous life I lead!

sorry, too tired to do a proper post today so just sending (((HUGS))) to everyone for now :)

This afternoon i have my long-awaited appointment at the eye clinic and am really hoping the consultant will say that the little hole in my retina has healed itself, and also that I can go on the waiting list to have my cataracts done!

    Morning all

Burtha - Sounds like you've got a lot of stressy times ahead - one day at a time x

It's dark and damp here this morning but I've no reason to go out so I wont! Washing machine has done it's thing, DW is doing it's thing, so about time I did my thing!

Was offered a code for a free fruit and veg box via a friend, I've just ordered it and will see what it's like - £26 worth of fruit and veg for free can't be bad. Not sure DH will want to carry on with the scheme but we will see.

Need to use up some mince that went out of date 3 days ago - so a pasta bake for tea I think, DD2's BF is here for a couple of days and in typical teenage boy style, he eats for England.

Need tea and lots of it whilst I crack on with my next bit of work!

Hope you all have a great day whatever you get up to.

  • Dear Burtha . Sending you hugs and stength , please remember we are all here for you . Break it all down into manageable chunks . The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Xxx

Well ladies , I am sat in my local posh garden nursery, in the cafe decided to treat my self to breakfast out. , it's pay day and I've just finished a night shift. So why not .. And lovely it is too. Thick slices of home made bread amazing bacon and a roaring open fire .. I have garden vouchers left over from my birthday so may treat my self to something nice ... And just relaised this is the first time in months I've eaten out on my own.. Well technically not on my own because I'm sharing this with you lol .
But a mini milestone none the less.

SQ mines a ship wreck too, and no kids to blame lol . But the 5 minute chunks are starting to make a difference . Slowly ..

Hugs and hellos to the newbies . Xx CC

hi all new to this site and not very confident on computer just looking for some tips and stuff as money very tight as husband has been on stat sick pay recovering from hernia operation was advised to claim income support but as i have small partime job were not eligable which doesnt help pay the bills:(
on the plus side we have small allotment plot which helps with the food side off things.

Hello Greywitch, sorry you seem to be squeezed at present. The thing that strikes me is that you were getting the wrong advice if you were told to claim Income support when in fact you are not eligible. But there might be other things you ARE entitled to and it doesn't sound as if whoever was giving you advice would know. There are lots of people on the benefits board who can point you in the direction of tools that will help you to check that you are getting all the money you are entitled to.

Apart from that can you give us a bit more information about yourself - how many in your family, what your big expenses are etc and how long your DH has been on SSP and how long it will be before he can go back to work. The tactics you would use for a short term cash flow problem are different from those you would need to use for the longer term
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Home and spent 30 pound of my vouchers on some hellebores and a lovely steel plater/ tray.. Something i wouldn't normally buy but thought I needed a treat, and it didn't cost me anything apart from the meal.
On call today for the first time, so sitting with my phone, thinking I need to do some house work. ... Thinking is almost doing isn't it??? ;)
Any way, raining here and grey, but.. Still sitting with a window open as it feels muggy and warm. So still good. X

Fuddle I forgot to say, how good to hear about how well your inspection went and the good news on the rent x
