Even though we have an Aldee literally at the end of our road we now only seem to get about 20 % of our weekly shop there. I guess being retired means we have the time to look elsewhere in the High St and Home B**gains seems to have an awful lot of stuff cheaper. We're also lucky that we have a weekly market just up the road and I find myself at the Meat stalls at the close of business today. Got another load of bargains.
As I was reading this I thought 'this is almost me' and when I see you are in N Lincs I think we may live in the same town! I also shop around and have just bought a bike to encourage a little more exercise when shopping. Quite often I will walk to town and often take a shopping trolley to Alldee and leave the car at home!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Yet another hot day forecast here, this fortnight has been amazing. Yesterday we went over to St Marys Loch and had tea in the cafe. People were swimming it was so hot - but they were turning blue lol.
I need to get a grip of spending, seem to going through a lot of food money for very little food.0 -
Morning Toughies, Hello to PINKDEBTSTER, YORKSHIRE CELT, NANNYTOMANY and LIVING PROOF lovely to have so many of you regular readers posting and joining in the chat, welcome to the thread as posters, it is so lovely when people do join in, it adds so much to the general family feeling that pervades this whole thread, welcome aboard.
We're also forecast another really hot day today, I have to say I'm loving this sunny weather but the poor garden is being fried during the day at the moment. We do water every evening, particularly in the hot houses but some of the tenderer plants outside are really finding it hard to cope and by evening are fainting, floppy little heaps on the ground. I hope everything does survive the main sufferers are some Globe Artichoke plants we got this year and they really aren't happy.
MAR I don't think it's your spending! everything is going up and up and up in price and I seem to get less for what I spend each week. I thank heaven that we are lucky enough to have the growing space and the wherewithall to produce most of our own fresh fruit and veg, how we would be financially if we had to buy in everything I shudder to think. What I find very strange is that in the SMs there is very little British produce on the shelves, most of what they are selling has travelled many miles to be here and that must be adding substantially to the price. I am lucky in having local farm shops and butcher where they do use home grown and bred things. I think we really need a complete change in practise from the bigger retailers if the prices are ever to come down again.
Have a nice day everyone, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
good morning!!!! woke up early this morning, the sun was peeping through a gap in the curtains. grrrr.
Yesterday I managed to speak to the area manager, she was nice and said she would come over at the weekend for a meeting with her. Im off all weekend, so I wont be included. We did a telephone interview tho, and she said she appreciated that I had made her aware. The person should have shown up for a shift yesterday but didn't , and she should be in today. We will see if she bothers to turn up again. I wouldn't dream of not turning up for work for no reason.
My mum returns from holiday today, so she needs collecting from the bus station at lunch time. She sounded really happy this morning. so im glad we have had nice weather this week.
Must get some jobs done, and pop in lidl for some shopping. Have a good day everyone xBSC member 137

Morning all
Haven't got time to post ATM so just checking in to let you all know we are fine apart from the usual dramas :rotfl:
Rosie has done her cruciate in they think so off to the vets this morning again for x-rays..she just wants to be bionic like DS2 I think!
Thank god for pet insurance but I dread to think what the premiums will be next year.
DS2 is doing great and walking less like a cowboy now,he's managing his tablets ok and seems quite well in himself.
My garden has officially turned into the amazon now..I cannot keep up with it but really pleased that the boys are eating most of it rather than me having to freeze loads of surplus.
I have only just caught up with what got behind while I was away so no rest for me just yet,I am soo tired but looking forward to a rest *ha ha* when DS3 breaks up for the hols.
Hope all are well and your gardens are doing great for you all too enjoy the sunshine and will try and pop in again soon XXX0 -
Thankyou for all your kind comments, this week has been really bad I seem to be in tears 99% of the time ds9 had his cams assessment on Monday and turned the room upside down so they could not do it they came out to the house on Monday afternoon to see him at home and assessed him hear. She was really nice Tues he absconded from the special educational unit we'd he did not go and Thursday he absconded again and I had to pick him up as they could not keep him safe so he's not going again today
they are apparently coming hear to educate him) cams have said I should have a diagnosis on Monday I have been told that cams are moving very fast its almost unheard of for them to be moving so fast. So hopefully our family will be in a happier place soon and ds can be back in a school for sept. It's a lovely day today and iv got loads of cooking to help my friend do for a party of 300. Have a happy Friday xxx

Just wondering if there was any sign of the baby yet, Princess?
Nothing as yet, FPK! We did have a scare on Monday evening when my brother called. All i heard was "ahhhhhhh, Her waters are everywhere"
Turned out that after a rush, panic, dash to the hospital, tests & checks & 5 hours later it turned out to be braxton hicks!
Her midwife should be seeing her weekly now as there is only 16 days to her due date and she was told she wont be seen now until 41 weeks.
Thanks for asking. I will update when i know more, I must learn how to add photo's to the thread, Because i was hoping if its okay with everyone to add a few when she finally decides to come out of hiding? xxFuture goals:

Been a really strange few days here. I’m, starting to think my A/D meds are no longer working as all I do is cry. I’m struggling to maintain a normal day. One moment I’m bouncing off the walls, Next I’m so tired & snappy.
The med change is starting to concern me slightly because this will be the 3rd time I would have had my meds changed because their not working.
Currently I’m on citaploram (Believe that‘s how it spelt??) 40MG per day.
(Anyone experienced higher dosages?)
I really feel I have no one to talk to. Poor OH has been getting hit hardest (Verbal) when really the issue isn’t with him.
Managed to pull mussels in my chest this morning, Right near my lung / ribs meaning that every simple breath is painful. < Always right when I have busy periods ahead.
Question for all you fab gardeners….
The cherry tree is blooming, We’ve been picking all this week and sending out to family. However, I’m still not happy that so many are being wasted. I’m not great at baking, So I was thinking, Could I make cherry jam???
Also, I was wondering how a food-bank would feel about me taking some there?
Got a list as long as my arm today….So will be popping on & off. Weather warnings have been placed for tomorrow for much of the country. Please keep safe everyone!! xxFuture goals:

Princess, just popping up to send you lots of hugs. Take care.0 -
Morning all...lovely to see so many newbies and hugs to all those in need at the moment.
Overcast and windy here today, was yesterday too, a blissful respite from the heat for me.
Fluffy kitten is doing really well, she's had a change of antibiotics which seem to be far gentler on her tum and she's eating really well (2 breakfasts already this morning). I just need to get her back onto cat food as fresh meat is costing me a bomb (whilst I don't begrudge it or any of the £450ish in vets bills!!!! It's got to be reined in now)
Got friends over tomorrow night for a game of cards, I need food inspiration. Just snacky bits we can eat whilst playing. I've got lots of veg and dips, various crisps and nuts but need something meaty (friends teenage son is coming too and he has hollow legs). Friend is doing Sw so I need some suitable ideas if anyone has any?"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
