Well, next time the weather is changeable, put said goofy fool on a long rope, tie it to the door handle and let him take himself for walkies ( Says Nargleblast, curled up on bed with smug puddy cat)

I never know how to make first posts, so I'll just say Hi and pretend you all know me:D

It's a rain soaked Bank Holiday here in Norfolk...yesterday I over did it cutting back things in the garden plus blitzed the upstairs bedroom shared by our two youngest sons. It's actually mostly my youngest sons room, he is seventeen and has autism and keeps the room in pretty decent shape, but the wonderful whirlwind that is my middle ds has been back for most of the Summer sharing the room and the chaos he brings with him has overwhelmed my and youngest dd's housekeeping skills. Since the whirlwind had nipped over to Holland to visit his Dutch girlfriend I attacked the room....looks much better now :T

I am now going to venture into the kitchen and make chicken pie with the leftovers from yesterday's roast.

Looking forward to getting to know you all :)
  • Hello LILYSUE welcome aboard the thread, it's always nice to have new folks to talk to and share with. It's raining everywhere today and I can vouch for the fact that it's still raining in deepest darkest Hampshire!!!

Me too. When was this dry bit you thought you saw? You must have been hallucinating!

    Welcome LilySue.

I have defrosted and tidied one freezer. I need to attempt to empty and reorganise the outside chest freezer as I'm sure I've lost a few things in there.

I am part of the way through clearing up after the window fitters. The utility, half the kitchen and the dining room are clean. The sitting room has had the worst removed. I've started clearing the hall. I've also been getting a production line of stewed apple going as the apples aren't lasting long in the crate. I have two more buckets to go and really don't want to at the moment!

However, I've now had my rest so really need to get on. There is a lot more clearing up to do!

Hey FUDDLE if you're reading along hope you've had a good summer break, I miss you posting. If you're around drop us a post and let us know how you are, Lyn xxx.

I am around Lyn :) I haven't been but I am around now. I mean how can an OS soul prepare and indulge in all things Autumnal without OS eh? ;)

Speaking of sogginess - it's put paid to my plans of elderberry hunting. I am anxious to make some of that wonder syrup I made last year. Flipping 'eck is that a year?

Lots of blackberrying going on here at the moment. We're all crumbled out so next batch will be jams. Any ideas on different concoctions? I have blackberry and blackberry and apple.

DH's friends from the North came down a few weeks back. He had been out fishing the wrecks. The fish he brought home was unbelievable. My freezer is full! Home made fish and chips are on the menu for a good while to come :D

    Work is great.
    Uniforms are bought.
Children would like to go back to school.
Car has had brakes and handbrakes repairs but feel the choke is troublesome as shudders when idle.
Mam has hit the vodka benders again.
Sis and I are working very carefully and slowly on our relationship, MIL is down next week in her caravan to see us (and mind the girls on teacher training day).
We have booked a trip for the girls to Lego Land for our summer break (weekend when the schools go back - trying to keep the costs down)
We have planted pretty plants in the garden and made a natural pond for natives (no fish) out of a large container.
DH has put astroturf down that he managed to blag as part of a deal at work.
I am having tests done on my knees at the moment. No answers yet as only had blood tests - xray is on Fri and waiting on scan date.

    See didn't miss much. :p

    Welcome LilySue :)
  • Hello girlie, how lovely to log in and see your name posting, makes my bank holiday!!!!!

You sound to have had a lovely busy summer petal, how nice to have Legoland in waiting as it were, hope the girls enjoy it very much, such a lovely place. A freezer full of filletted free fish (alliteration?) how wonderful, enjoy and I've made blackberry and raspberry jam this year which is ever so nice. I found a recipe for blackberry chutney in one of my wartime books if you'd like it? I started some blackberry vinegar off this morning, to go alongside the elderberry cordial for use for colds, coughs and flu. That's so easy it's 1lb of blackberries washed and put into a pottery/glass bowl with 1 pint of white wine vinegar and covered up with a teatowel and left for 5 days, giving it a stir once in a while. Then strain off the vinegar into a saucepan, warm it to just boiling and add in 12oz - 1 lb of white sugar, stir until it's dissolved then boil it gently for 10 minutes and bottle it in clean bottles and seal tightly. Use the same way as the elderberry cordial diluted in hot water for a sipping drink when throats and chests are sore.

Sorry Mum is back to old habits but it's lovely that you and your sister are building bridges again, well done. Astroturf is much easier than mud and mowing and the plants and wildlife pond sound pretty. Poor you with sorely knees, hope they can find the cause quickly and give you something to make them comfy again, and the girls actually WANT to go back to school? amazing and very refreshing, well done those Fuddlettes!!!

I'm so glad you're back, I've missed you, welcome home love, Lyn xxx.
  • Hi GREENBEE it was around 2 this afternoon, and I swear it had slowed down to the odd drip, until I got 200 yards up the road then the weather fairy spotted us and oh boy did she throw water. We waited under the trees in the park and got another lull ( I was out of sight at that point) so thought we'd make a dash for home and off it went again, splish, splash, splosh!!!!! We were dripping when we got home, my raincoat having dripped all down my jeans and into my shoes so I was standing in a puddle, poor Docky though was dripping from ears, nosey and tail!!! NOT FAIR!!!
