At least you got out Mrs LW! I'm finding it hard being stuck inside (the housework isn't wildly exciting either). I'll have to get my waterproofs on soon and go for a nice damp walk. Or a run, as last week and the weekend have been too busy to fit in the ones I'm meant to have done.
  • Oh GREENBEE just put your waterproofs on and stand outside, the rain will do all the running you need!!!

    Welcome LILYSUE :)

Fuddle It's so nice to see a post from you. I was going to ask monnagran if she had any news of you, but then Lyn posted :D

Re pets going/not going out in the rain - our cat insisted on going out in it this morning and then came in sopping wet and demanding to be dried. He did this several times! I think it was because he likes drinking the rainwater off the blades of grass, though he will use a bowl if he must. He won't drink tap water until it's been outside for long enough to taste "outsidey" :D

Fuddle, an old family favourite my mum used to make and that I try every year to replicate is blackberry & apple jelly. Sounds tricky but all you need is a jelly bag & something to hang it from over a big bowl or bucket (have used dining chairs, mum used to use a kitchen stool) and your maslin pan :)

Hi everyone, and welcome to the new posters!

THURSDAY WILL BE ALDI VOUCHER DAY.............

Just thought I would get that out of the way, we are going on our first holiday with no children in 9 days. Mum is feeling better now, so she is having DD and Buddie the puppy over for tea most days while we are away. OH decided today we will sort out a new sofa, ours in too large for the room and however we try it takes up half the wall. We measured up, so will look around.

I used my nectar point to pay for a nice meat pie for tea. Found a few yellow stickers items for the freezer.

Off in search of a few bargains again, take care all - keep out the rain everyone x

    Evening all,

Jealous of you all who have ripe blackberries, we wont have many for a while, I have been using apples, going to make some jelly in the next few days, my sources of crab apples seem to have disappeared so will use my ordinary ones, can never get rid of them anyway, people seem to prefer to buy stuff rather than make things.

Good to see you posting Fuddle and doing so well.

Hi Lilysue: good to have you on board.

Nice to see you too Fuddly, what a useful DHyou have. I am thinking of something useful the Rev could supply. A freezer full of sermons? Wedding certificate jelly? Ancient and Modern chutney?

I had made up my mind to try making your elderberry cough syrup but left my pet elderberry bushes behind in the IOW. I will have to trawl round the wilderness that goes by the name of 'garden', and maybe try the churchyard for size.

So sorry lyn that you and Docky nearly drowned on your splash around today. It was filthy weather here too. We decided to give ourselves a break, so the Rev spent the morning playing on her computer and I got over excited at having my hob at last and cooked us a roast dinner, plus a loaf of bread and a lemon curd cake. I felt more like me, pottering around in the kitchen.

Back to the grindstone tomorrow. You know that programme 'Hoarders', well, that's exactly what my study looks like. The rest of the house is almost there but whatever we didn't have a home for has mysteriously landed in my study. I am waiting for the men in yellow hi-viz jackets to come and start shovelling things into skips. Failing that it will be the men in white jackets coming to shovel me into the padded wagon.

    Hoping for better weather tomorrow.

    Hello Lilysue. :)
    Lots of ripe blackberries here.
Lots of rain too. Sapphie Cocker is not very happy as she's got soaked twice today and had to wear her pink drying coat. It's really not cool you know.
