Morning everyone :hello:
The BBC weather forecast said it would be "uncomfortably warm in urban areas overnight" so I went back to sleeping under an empty duvet cover. I'm really tired now, as I kept surfacing because my feet were cold but didn't wake up enough to get out of bed and put the duvet on!
I always sleep under an empty duvet cover with the duvet folded right back to the end of the bed so just my feet are tucked in warm. If I wake in the night feeling chilly, I simply pull the duvet up a bit - almost in my sleep! Still do this even in the winter cos I'm running my own personal thermostat (ladies of a certain age will know what I mean!!):j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Thanks lilibet! I'm actually currently trying that very idea, but finding it hard because my knee joints are hypermobile. It's a bit difficult to explain, but I need my feet to be flat on the mattress or my knees get uncomfortable (especially as I sleep on my side), but there isn't room at the foot of the bed to have only one thickness of duvet over my feet unless there is at least one layer of folded duvet under them.
I know what you mean about the personal thermostat! I'd give you a sympathetic ((HUG)) but we'd both get too hot :rotfl:
I have hypermobile finger joints too, but thankfully all the others seem to be all right. Weird.
Got a doctor's appointment this afternoon as I'm feeling very tired and light-headed lately.. I'm wondering if my blood pressure's gone down or something - I'm on a low dosage of a beta blocker as it was a bit high. I expect she'll take my BP, order a blood test, and as always happens with mardatha, I'll be told there's nothing wrong. I'd put it down to the hot weather, but it's cooler now and I don't feel any better
I suppose that might be due to my "age" as well....we'll see.
Forgot to say - nuttyp that's wonderful, so chuffed for you :j0 -
Morning toughies
Nutty how nice that the customer appreciated you, make sure you test yourself a little at least you work so hard.
I have gone mad and hired a bouncy castle for the day today. As the car is poorly and I can't really take the kids anywhere. It was feeling like they hadn't had much of ssummer holidays between car issues and hospitals so I arranged this. It's raining however so they can't use it properly yet. Am praying that the weather clears soon.0 -
Wow kidcat, a bouncy castle. Your one lovely mummy to organsie that!! Can I come over and play? lol Buddy is fast asleep on the sofa.
Todays sun newspaper has a voucher for £5 free fruit and veg and salad. No extra spend required, the paper is 40p and the coupon is valid until sunday. Maybe help some of you??? potatoes etc...... I will be visiting at some point!! would be rude not to use it.
We insured the dog yesterday, it will be £8.17 a month for life. It will me if he ever becomes ill, or needs long term treatment its all covered. He Is very adventurous and likes to explore.
Ivy leaf I hope you get sorted, feeling tired all the time is very hard. I have odd days like it but I put it down to too much work and being hot and bothered.
take care all xBSC member 137

WOW nutty what a tip and so well deserved - put some to practical use, always sensible and then some MUST be spent on YOU as that is what the giver stipulated!
Bouncy castle woohoo kidcat! Know what you mean about the kids this summer, from our boys' point of view this has been one of the worst if not the worst. I am so glad we have a week away and then a 2nd week with DH doing some day trips afterwards. That is keeping us all going including DH who is manning the office single handed.
empathies with the poorlies - backs and being hot - I can commiserate with both. Hope everyone is feeling better soon. PIC - have you any personal emails/texts/calls/letters to catch up with? Photos to sort? Planning to do? I feel for you, won't last forever chuck.
Still have the snots and boys seem grotty again !!!!, have to venture out today to get milk and try to take boys somewhere only a short local trip maybe park and then going to see if they want to either wash the car or weed garden (to get them outdoors and off the screens a bit.). Small holiday spending money will be offered - works well on holidays as they know they can only spend small holiday money and any pocket money they have saved up. We buy the icecreams though!
Boys spotted a couple of fleas on our sofa yesterday EEK. Got them to hoover the sofa which took forever with lots of games of course and have been washing all the covers, throws etc. Cats just had flea drops recently and have collars so hoping just a random couple. No real signs of flea dirt or eggs so fingers crossed. Also Posh cat is going somewhere with a plant with tiny round burrs on so have to keep picking them out of his fur especially his tail. Fortunately he lets me as long as the weather has cooled down and boys are out of sight.
Enjoyed the GBB last night - usually just me and eldest watch but DH and youngest did too and DH has challenged us to make 3 different "last weekend before our holiday" celebration cakes so that means ME making 3 cakes and clearing up x 3. Think I will make a big sponge mix and divide into 3 with 3 different flavours and 3 different toppings. Hoping boys will actually help, they are good now with measuring and mixing and reading a recipe. DH is good at pastry but never makes cakes so think I need to extend the challenge to HIM and get him to make a cake too!!0 -
SQ what are you using for fleas. one of our breeders recommended a combo drop which also meant carpets and furniture stayed clear. It was more expensive than the normal stuff but does seem to have worked.
We are not likely to get away this year as oh used his summer holidays in DS16 hospital stay. Am hoping quietly if DS16 is up to it that I may take the kids on my own again but OH is resisting the idea0 -
I can't remember what the flea drops were now, packet recycled, just cheapy ones from will- cos I think. I have found some flea powder in the cupboard - we don't have any carpet downstairs so no worries there just the sofa, cushions, throws etc which the cats love to sleep in. I will look out for the combo drops thanks kidcat.
NUTTY (or anyone?)- is the voucher for morry-suns?
edit just seen another thread - yes it is!0 -
We changed to stronghold a couple of years back as the other stuff just wasn't working. Some of the foster cats have been in a right old mess with them when they came in.
Just a word of advice, stronghold does not do ticks or all worms so check the packet, we still give a separate wormer.
RIP for the house is done once a year. buy on Amzazonia as it's half the price of the vets.
£10 ish0 -
Afternoon all
Nutty - What a fantastic tip! Treat yourself to something lovely.
Kidkat - Fab bouncy castle, I bet they can't wait to get on it.
PIC - Hope your back improves quickly!
SQ - We use advantage - it's a vet only jobbie but I find I'm only using it once every 3 or 4 months rather than monthly. Not cheap but it does keep them clear of fleas, worms, tics and lice. One of ours had ear mites a few years back and this cleared them in days.
Well the decorating is done - hurrah!! Just got to stick a beading edge to the back of the mantle piece - the wall paper was cut to short when the last owner had it done and it's bugged me since we moved in, a bit of beading attached along the back will just cover it all up and look lovely. Got some new light fittings yesterday and have wired them up, they look so much nicer than the 5 bulb monstrosities that were there.
The rest of the house looks like a bombs gone off so I need to whizz round with a damp cloth and get DD1 to follow me with the hoover. Then I plan a bit of a sit down, I've got a really sore throat and my temperature keeps going up and down....I just don't have time to be poorly!
DH had a Drs appointment this morning and has come home with more pills - honestly he will rattle, I think that takes him up to around 37 a day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
