OK, peeps, I need your brains and opinions, please.

We are going to be in the UK for one night next month. We have to decide whether to fly into Gatwick or Heathrow and need to spend the night.

Can anyone recommend a good B&B or hotel in those areas? On line reviews are so tricky. I think the hubbie wants a B&B because he really wants a full breakfast!

Hi all, had another busy day here. I worked all morning, came home and OH had started to build a patio - only taken 5 years!!!!! He has made a mini gate to stop buddy from harm too, amazing as I only asked yesterday. Hubby was off work yesterday as he had a accident in his van and he was aching,, all his fault I may add as the car in front stopped and he had no chance to react in time. Oh well only metal, could have been far worse.
DD got a stairgate for us for £5, all installed again for buddy. This pup is being very baby fied, but he is my baby.

im glad you can finally see him. DD brought her puppy round so they had a little play, and then they both had a nap - hard work all this playing.

I used both of my mr m vouchers today, used the first through a self scan machine then I went to pay for the other lot of meat through a different checkout with a person serving. Thankyou for the £10 of free meat mr m, dd did the same as I gave her the vouchers lol

Re the rug, I would use washing powder, then hose it down very well and if you have a bit of fabric conditioner maybe a quick splosho ver with it too, to smell nice.

Re the rug- have you got a massive container that you could leave it in to soak. I have one that I use to clean the oven shelves- horrible job- If so you could fill in with hot water and a generous dose of Stardrops and see if that helps. Saves the old arms! Also once rinsed off- dry in sun which is supposed to help remove stains. HTH

Thanks for the advice re the rug - I suppose I could leave it to soak over night in the bath.....might take some man handling to get it out in the garden to dry without it dripping everywhere...actually it's really heavy as it is, I can't imagine trying to carry it through the house full of water. I shall give the washing powder a go and see how it comes up - it's fully earnt it's keep over the past 10 years or so, so if it's not going to scrub up then I won't feel to bad about it being dumped.

Just back from a bootfair - my goodness it's ruddy hot out there. Not many bargains to be had but I did manage to pick up a little decorative hanging sign for my dresser with the same quote on as in my signature! 20p well spent.

I'm off to play with polyfiller, caulk and sandpaper - wish me luck!

Hi all :) we have had very heavy rain all day yesterday and some today but it is sunny now. I was so glad to see the rain to be honest. Yes Lyn I felt it was so refreshing too:) The grass needs cutting again but than can be done when the ground is dry again. I found the heat too much for me and too draining. I was in town on Friday afternoon meeting my dear daughter and little grandson, and was early so to kill time I went into one of the charity shops. I overheard a woman talking to one of the assistants, and couldn't help but laugh. For all of us ladies still going through the menopause..... The woman was buying a few wee cotton t shirts she said because the sweat was pouring off her as it was and the flippin night sweats etc were driving her mad. She said her husband was getting fed up with her throwing of all the bedding each night. Then she said about the sweating "ah well it is the nearest she will ever get to holidaying in the Bahamas" ha ha we all laughed as we understood. I remember many years ago while at work on the checkouts a woman was talking about her hot flushes and I hadn't long started mine. She was packing her shopping away into the carrier bags and I was helping her and she said she was fed up with the flushes and she was going to make an app with her g.p the very next day to see if he could start her on an M.O.T to see if it helped. She meant H.R.T bless her and it was hard to keep my face straight but chuckled inside :) Knitting a baby blanket and going to start the ironing very soon.
Do a little kindness every day.;)

Hi all, its lovely here We have hot and sunny weather on the east coast. Buddy has been snoozing. as well as us all, and we are about to have chicken for tea. It came from mr m and was bought with the £5 voucher from last weeks paper. Popped into ice land today, and there was a £5 off a £25 spend for 2 weeks time. So again I will be carefully using up stuff to free space. If I work this well most weeks I should be getting money off.

poky I hope the rug washing is going well, at least the next few days seam to be fine so will fry nicely.

  • Evening everyone it's been such a lovely day here, sunny, breezy and 21 degrees so very much more comfortable than of late and I'm hopeful of sleep tonight. I made 4 jars of raspberry jam, 3 jars of pickled red cabbage and 5 jars of peach and apricot jam (didn't set as well as I'd hoped) that will be poured over sponge for puddings I think and didn't get frazzled in the kitchen either. We had slow cooked brisket for supper and it was lovely to actually enjoy a proper hot meal and then we walked Docky dog along the lanes in the evening sun and it smelt of autumn evenings and bonfires, lovely!!!

DD is flying back from Zambia as I type and is due in at 6.25 in the morning and He Who Knows is driving up to the airport to collect her and take her back home. From the texts I've had I know they've had a marvellous time but I think she's looking forward to sleeping in a real bed again, it's one thing expeditioning and sleeping in tents when you're younger but shes 36 now and beginning to appreciate home comforts. It will be so nice to be able to talk to her again, I've missed her lots!!! I'm going up on Friday to stay for a week and make sure she gets a break this summer. Hope you've all had a good day too, Lyn xxx.
