Oh Burtha, talk about tenterhooks. Not at all long now and I hope that the absence of the MSE green light means that it's action stations for your family. I look forward to hearing your good news. :)

Nutty I am so sorry you were scared. That really is awful. Keep an eye on yourself, any clue that you are not coping or a little scared and it's out of the ordinary please seek help eh? Don't let a little big gobbed cretin ruin your determined and positive outlook on life. ;)

What a day! I have been stressed from 6.30am and only just sat down with a cuppa and 2 biscuits as haven't eaten since my toast this morning. Still, it's a nice feeling having achieved a lot but I have to admit to spending £2 at the jet wash this morning as my car was desperate, I was getting embarrassed at pulling up outside of people's homes in scruffy motor and because I had planned on slipping back in my break to do it but had to cover sickness. I am now reeling over my £2 spend-age but pleased I can use the time, as planned, to finish staining the last few fence panels. Sometimes I wonder whether my strategy of planning and organisation to avoid stress actually causes bliddy stress!

Tea is simple scrambled egg on toast when DH comes in as he's bringing some smoked salmon trimmings to dazzle the tops and add flavour.

The girls have my work aprons and gloves on, their play first aid kit and teddies. Seems eldest has decided she wants to be a GP and write poetry in her spare time and youngest wants to be a nurse. Go for it kids!

Washing wash hung out at 6.30 am so I'm off to go get that in sort and iron it later.

I am really enjoying crocheting squares for my bed blanket. I especially like sewing them all together and watching the blanket take shape and form. I plan to do the same for the girls/ beds and have fun stitching random 2D hearts, flowers etc.

My weekend off coming up and we're in two minds whether to go over the border to Devon with the tent. It's depending on weather (I don't think it's too good) and what National Trust things there are to do. DH and I will put our heads together later on this evening.

Will love and leave you now as I am going to put my scruffies on and get that fence finish - rain due tomorrow after about 3 weeks worth of really lovely weather.
  • I went to the poly tunnel and I picked

    Lots of french beans
    a big handful of peas
    3 cucumbers
    1 very large courgette
    1 red little gem lettuce

and then I picked in the garden

    1 large colander of spinach

and then He Who Knows bought back from the allotment

A large carrier bag full of Broad Beans
A large carrier bag full of New Potatoes

All is washed, podded, chopped and in the fridge waiting to be used and last times picking of broad beans is cooking on the hob for a salad. I think I can safely say that the Hungry Gap is officially OVER!!!

I have garden/allotment produce envy. Promised myself and kids this year would be our growing veggies and we have planted a big fat zilch and worse the hedge and lawns are sporting a wild and rugged look. At least last year we had tom plants. However DH finishes his exams next week (unless any more re-sits cross everything please!) and has promised to have a gardening weekend next weekend to get everything tidy. Might even get a few salad leaves for late summer? This year my mental and physical health has meant I have had to prioritise jobs. If my back doesn't start playing up again, also planning to start the loooooong list of DIY jobs plus quotes for stuff we can't do and notch the decluttering up a few levels. Minimum want boys in their own bedrooms for this Sept.

Yesterday I cooked a whole chicken for the first time in the SC. Put on bed of onions, added garlic cloves and made a rub to brush on. Came home to a wonderful smell. DS10 and I were famished so we had the most delicious hot chicken sandwich. I left the rest of the chicken in a big dish to cool down and JUST caught a very disgraced Mr Stripy Cat edging his way nearer and nearer to the chicken. Chicken is his weakness! Today as punishment I have some chicken stock on all day in SC ha ha ha!

managed to get all of DS7's holiday activies booked (bar one) finally just before the lines closed. he got some of the very last places so very lucky. Just hope his anxiety doesn't stop him going, will be great for him and means I can do some 11+ study with DS10 whilst he is at a school. Couldn't persuade DS10 to do any but he has enough on with the extra study in the schoolo hols. It will be a very busy one for me!!

Hi all, had a nice morning today Another shop member rang to check I was ok, and that I had reported everything. We have had a few shop breakins around our area lately, more reason to be alert while in work. I did a report and central security have pulled off some images of them from the cctv. These will be sent to the police in case they know who they are.

Youngest daughter received a distinction in one of her modules for collage. For someone who struggles and has a teaching assistant as she is slightly dyslexic it is amazing. With a little help everyone can achieve. So university who said there is no help for her, your loss. We have decided to scrimp n save to put her through 2 years at collage to do a half degree, we have to pay all the fees as its not available on funding.

    Burtha any news yet????? x

  • SQ we're retired and the kids are grown and away from home, that's why we can grow what we do, because we have the time now. I didn't always and the kids had to be the priority right up until they both went to university. Mind we still get asked to import any spare produce as they love thier fruit and veg and have both got my jam and chutney making passion built in. You'll get there one day, and you'll enjoy the growing and the eating but for now, you're growing two small people to be educated and kind and interesting adults, that's the important thing in life!!!

Blimey burtha she is having a tough time. Can't be long now though. 7 cm is the home stretch. Sending hugs and an eviction notice if it will help shift the little one :)
