Mrs LW, what a tricky situation, but it sounds like you have cleared your thoughts and made your decision which is good. How nice to have a place like this to discuss the situation and what a great variety of thoughtful advice was shared.

I agree with all the others Mrs LW and very well done for your decision. It doesn't sound like the visit would suit anyone other than the daughter! It isn't like the lady has nowhere to stay as she is in sheltered accommodation. Maybe you could write to her occasionally with a little family news and a couple of photos.

Been MIA recently. Had a wonderful day Thursday. DH and I went to our local schools' infant music festival where DS7's class were singing. DS7 had a part with another 4 children at one point. Two incredibly proud parents :D particularly as DS was so nervous beforehand. Then off to a birthday coffee with one of best friends and then a spontaneous lunch at a local pub before picking up the children.

Friday was counselling which went well, shopping and housework, back to normal! DS10 has a school friend over who hasn't been over before.

Today is an odds and ends day, bit of time with kids doing homework and some sort of activity. Banana pancakes for their lunch. Pop to Allydeedums and a few chores as my back permits. Want to get organised today as a fun day out at an animal sanctuary we haven't yet visited yet planned for tomorrow (and we should have sunshine then, look like a rainy day here today)

DH wants to use the PC so need to go. My lappy is playing up, getting a bit old but I am hoping it will last for a lot longer yet. That reminds me DS7 needs a new mattress, wish we hadn't bought him a cheap one, the springs are digging in so must order a new one today.

    take care

Ivy - The rain is on it's way.....we've got it here on the coast, typically as it's air show weekend. Flying doesn't start until noon so there's hope it will stop raining but all those stalls set on the cliffs, all the fairground rides, the craft markets etc will all be a wash out....poor things.

Mrs LW - I think you're doing the right thing with the letter, I can't believe how utterly rude and unthinking some people can be sometimes. You stick to your guns on this one!

Car was fixed in less than 5 minutes - yay! - wish they could have talked us through it over the phone though as it's a "common fault" - if it's that common why's it not in the trouble shooting guide??

DD1 was out until the early hours with friends so won't be awake until well after lunch (providing she can sleep through the hoover - evil? me? never!! hehehe)

Going to make a vat of chilli for dinner/the freezer and might even treat everyone and bung a cake in the oven.

MRS LW, your usually offering the good advice and comfort on the thread. It was nice of others to be able to offer it to you.

Ahhh, no need to get the hoover out, the red arrow display came really low overhead a few times and their final flypast rattled the house.....DD1 is now awake...

Wonder if the red arrows would consider renting themselves out as "teenage alarm clocks"...... ;)

Well done mrslw I think you have it sorted :)

Ivy we have the rain, thunder and storms here I will send them if you fancy them?

SQ mattresses are something I always try to buy good ones of as it's false economy to buy cheapies we have discovered. The last few we have bought latex from !kea and they are working out ok.

Pooky loving the red arrows :)

Feeling yuck today, went to ald! this morning and everything was changed which slowed things right down. Worse the car park was killer, seemed full of very angry older people all growling that the place was full of families who should park elsewhere. It was most bizarre.

Mardatha oops I totally forgot about the roof! !!

cats have all gone loopy with the weather. Our semi cat (belongs over the road)has arrived as the neighbours have put her out for the day. In storms!

OH is working from 3am tomorrow which means anything I need him to do has to be complete today. He disagrees apparently it means he should do nothing today as it's his day off. While I took DD8 to dance this morning DD19 asked him when I was getting a day off his reaction was not pleasant by all accounts.
  • That's what I call 'the Chickens on the Bus' syndrome. I am alternately enraged and amused by the older people who live down here, they seem to go about in trios, and take up 2 complete double seats and they are moaning when they get on the bus, moaning while the bus is moving and moaning as they get off the bus. Then if I'm forced to go back on the same bus they do it all over again in reverse, or they give intimate details of thier illnesses and afflictions at mega loud level, and all the things thier families have done etc. etc. etc. I just sit and alternately giggle or sethe!!! and then there are the teenagers with 'I said and she said and I said etc.etc Oh it's a hard life when you're a teenager. Me? well I think life's pretty good, that families can park in shop car parks and so can older folks, that the chickens on the bus are probably just trying to outdo each other with the Ooooo It's DISGUSTINGs!! and teenagers, well, they grow up to be Chickens on the Bus!!!
