CATH I chop it into 1" chunks and put it in to the slow cooker with half a pint of boiling water . If you cook it on high about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, check it with a skewer and if it's done to your taste turn off, if not keep going until it is how you like it, it will soften a little in the freezer though, so I let mine cook through, just! Hope that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.

It is glorious here today, OH and I have spent a couple of hours at the lottie this morning and have managed to weed all of the beds. Have harvested a couple of pounds of strawberries, a feed of new potatoes for tea tonight and elderflowers.

I have never made my own elderflower cordial before. I am trying Mrs LW's recipe and the elderflowers and lemon are currently steeping. I just need to source some glass bottles from the garage ready for tomorrow when it is finished.

DD1 and I both really enjoyed One Flew Over the Cookoos nest last night at the theater. It was the local youth group and they put on a really professional production. Seeing a youth group is also a cheaper way of going to the theater, which is something that I really enjoy but find too expensive.

Right I'm off to supervise DD2 packing for her activity holiday as part of the Summer of a Lifetime next week.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

    Afternoon All!

    Hi Amber!

Hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend - the warmer weather does lift the spirits! It was a sparkling morning here, but now there is some high cloud and a bit of sea mist, it is quite close.

I thought you might like to see a couple of pictures of the campsite - taken this morning on the way to pick up the van.

    9kuv.jpg

Thats the campsite in the distance.

The view from where we work
    5pls.jpg

And the vew from the edge of the cliff looking northwards

    opo5.jpg

The sea looked so inviting this morning, I had to restrain myself from leaping in - not a good plan as we were about 100 ft up!

Plans to eat in the garden on hold due to cloud - it often clears again here in the evening, so fingers crossed!

PS - OH also finds anything botty related hilarious (as do all his chums), so I think it's just that their funny bones never evolve beyond the age of twelve!

Looks gorgeous, I am envious I have to admit. :o
    You lucky thing! :)

Thanks for the timings Lyn. I had to go to bed so I'm not overly tired at work so I left the rhubarb in the freezer. I will do the next lot in the slow cooker though. :)

hi everyone, lovely pictures on here too.

Yesterday I had alovely day with OH,we went to Norwich. Cleaned his nan's grave up and removed some dead flowers. Then headed into town. We didn't realise it was carnival day, so lots of street entertainers. We shared a hotdog from a stall on the continental market. OH got me a sundress from primarnie. Blut is was just the fact we had time together.

We then went on to great Yarmouth, wandered around the town and he got me another dress from m&co which was having a closing down sale. We wandered down the main street, had a cup of tea and an icecream. When we got to the beahc it was really busy, but we mooched along and then went and had tea out at the the ocean spray restaurant, £5 for a roast dinner. I know it was hot but I still like to eat 'proper' food. We spent £2 on the 2p machines and had another wander then we left around 7pm for the drive home.

All in all had a wonderful day, and a chance to really unwind.

today we have a had a bbq on George forman grill. And sat int he garden. OH cleaned my car.

On the talk of windmills our village has one, and recently they got the sails fitted onto it. It has visitors centre and a working mill. I think its the tallest in Britain. It was a magical day, I know my dad was looking forward to it happening. Sadly he didn't see it, but I did on his behalf.

Tomorrow i am back at work, and fingers crossed within the next 2 weeks we will be getting more staff. I hope i still get a bit of overtime just not as much as i have been doing if that makes sense.

I am loving the hot weather, i like being in the garden doing nothing. Hope everyone is doing well, i would like nextdoor to not make me listen to their music all the time. They switched it off when i started singing hahahah i would too, i am so bad at it

Mrs Veg Plot We get season tickets to the local theatre which is run by volunteers who act, sell tickets etc. The shows are really good. We saw Calendar Girls a couple of months ago and it was fabulous. Our Monday night season ticket for 5 performances is just £25:D:D:D

Mrs Chip I love your photos. I couldn’t care if I was never in the countryside again but I love the sea and the river :):)

I have power washed my yard today-1 ½ hours and was exhausted in the heat but continued with the plans and got washing dried and I even ironed…:eek:

Been shopping for food for “Office Breakfast” for tomorrow.:j Paid a visit to my parents then came home and prepared baits for us and prepared tomorrows tea.:j:j

Although I also love proper food Nutty P, I am having a lovely salad Nicoise today for tea.

    Off to eat now

Lovely pics Mrs C, that sea looks so inviting.

We drove along the coast road here today, the sea was the bluest, flattest, calmest I've seen it in ages. Just stunning.

Fluffy kitten had a very bad day yesterday, another when we thought we might lose her, she's rallied round a bit today and has finally eaten this evening (i gave her some pain relief earlier as her mouth is full of ulcers, it did the trick). She's just ventured out to lay in the wet grass (just watered everything) and had a drink from the pond. She's keeping us on out toes!

Had a wander round a few bootfairs this morning but far to hot for me and I gave in and came home. Food has been basic and refreshing today. I'm afraid I've lolloped on the sofa and melted quietly. The sun has only just gone off my kitchen so it still feels like a sauna. It was showing as 32 degrees at 9.45 this morning. Blugh

I'm really annoyed I didn't get any seeds planted this year, last years were such a flop and I was so busy doing the kitchen that I just didn't bother......grrrrrr! Missing my freshly picked salad leaves, my potatoes and radishes. I do have a couple of tomato plants that were donated, I have one flower so far.

Hope everyone has a cooler evening.

Mrs C - beautiful, how blessed you are to have such beauty every day, and also that you appreciate to, so many people dont appreciate the beauty they have

Mrs LW - thank you, OH had steam coming out of his ears this morning when he inspected the full damage to the garden and your explanation of a petulant child helped me to explain it to him calmly. I have tried to discuss many things with them over the years but the fact is neither is self aware enough to even see that they have done anything wrong.
We have agreed that if we go away again we will simply stand our ground and say we are getting someone else in and as OH says we can be honest and say we dont want to come home to the mess we did this time.
We had planned to get the kids pool up today but havent been able to as it took OH hours to clean the garden up and repair the grass damage where the dog has been scratching.

Thankfully its all done now and we did get to sit out and watch the tennis through the patio doors and just relax later this afternoon, tomorrow we will set up the pool and get it ready for after school.

Pooky - we had a bowl of strawberries from our plants today, we have tomatoes growing and all my little veg plants are doing really well, after last year its such a joy to see.
