Ginny - I love Lincolnshire, the windmills and turbines fascinate me.
Cranky - glad he is ok today and that no lasting damage done
Possession - if only I had logged in earlier today your warning of busy Stratford would have been useful, as it was we arrived at the butterfly farm and managed to park there, went it (how beautiful) and wandered round, DS9 got upset and couldnt cope with them flapping past him, so went outside with OH. We then fought our way to McD, picnicked by the water and then got in car and came home.
Am really pleased that we got home and managed to get the car unloaded and unpacked in just over an hour, two loads of washing are done and almost everything is away already.
As we arrived DD7 friends were all playing out in the sun, so she grabbed her hat and off she went, popped in to grab a swim costume and then headed to one of the friends for a BBQ
We came home to lots of house issues though, my parents have been cat and dog minding (against my better judgement but they got really stroppy and I didnt fancy the fight), the main bin is full of cat litter because he didnt bag it before dumping it, they have allowed the dog all over the newly laid turf, so its really messy, didnt shut the gates to prevent the dog wandering all over the house - so he has wandered and been all over the place wreaking havoc.
OH is livid as they have also been through the kids rooms, fixing things that he had asked them specifically not to do.
The Tv has also broken, no sound from it at all, have had to plug a speaker dock into it to hear anything which is far from ideal but better than nothing0 -
Hey Ginny we may even have conversations which do not revolve around feeding or toileting issues!!! (If we decide to go mad - lol)0

Also need to start eating more healthily and get back to walking and toning exercise 2 stone has managed to creep on over the last 2 years and I need to get rid of it.
you and me both cutestkids, I can empathise. I am hoping that I will get more exercise over the school hols with my two boys. I will try and join in more with their running about activities, football etc (I have given in to their pleading to play tag with them tomorrow ) Hope to walk more with them and think of exercise based fun like making up dances with them. Free fun and exercise for us all is the way to go I think.
There are some old threads on the families board (and maybe on OS board?) about free/very cheap activities for children. Maybe we could start one on OS as well... will do that tomorrow if I get time, need to think of some stuff to get the ball rolling but my brain's too tired now...

do you know what though, if it isn't the parents discussing above, its the kids anyway. I am still waiting for DS9 (and DS6 of course) to stop all the poo jokes but then I listen to both boys laughing with DH about who has farted and I realise those jokes will never stop!
seriously though, hope you do get a little time (or longer time even better) for some alternative conversations and a cup of tea that is more than lukewarm! The extra day your DH has at home and the 1-2-1 on the other day will make a real difference to your week I know. A real cause for whooping! :j
cranky - hope the house elf wakes up feeling much better, the fall sounded painful.
kidcat - sorry to hear about the parental over/under involvement, not nice to come back to I'm sure. Welcome back to the toughies anyway, good to have you back.
and now I really must stop reading backwards and go to the blanket show

No I don't think they do ever stop. My OH is 53 and still finds them funny
Monnagran - you are amazing. I love that your name is Joy, it seems so appropriate somehow
Re Pixel the Korat - I call my daughter Pixel. Her name is Victoria (hence the V in VJsmum) - not so much of a leap as it seems - Victoria, Vick, Vix, Vixel, Pixel!!
Hello Amber, welcome to the [STRIKE]Madhou[/STRIKE] thread and GIntot, who I forgot to welcome - how rude.
Well you won't hear me moaning about the weather - no sir! There is no such thing as "too hot". I am loving it - 30 degrees? Bring it on...(though I do sympathise with those who suffer - it affected my mum's breathing so she hated it, I always felt guilty for loving the heat!
) We sat out in a garden in shirt sleeves till 10.30 last night.
Spent a lot of the day weeding and tidying up the garden - my arms are a mass of scratches after tying up the roses, they are something to beholdOther people's roses are beautiful at the moment - anyone noticed? Massive, perfect blooms. I have about 3 on each of 3 rose bushes - but then mine get blammed with a football at 100 mph quite often!
The good thing about the gardening was picking and then cooking some beetroot to have with lunch. I've never grown it before - it was delicious.
Bit of a busy day out and about today. Should mostly be outside and then a Barbie this evening. Have a fantastic day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
A big hello and warm welcome to you Amber. Good morning everyone
(see I can do a short post)

VJsmum, my roses aren't anywhere near out yet, apart from the peonies. My lilac is the same. And the buddleia is just starting it's leaves. So late this year.0

I'm not sure I'll every catch up!
The last two days have been a whirlwind, but the party went very well. We had lots of finger sandwiches, salads, crisps and I made two kinds of cake and homemade ice cream. I think everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and I don't think we irritated the neighbours too much as we weren't really loud to begin with but I asked everyone to quiet down at 9 and then things finished up around 10:30. Not too much cleanup either, some dishes need doing today, the chairs need putting back and a load of table clothes and tea towels for to do, but otherwise not bad. There were some very different personalities there last night, they all know each other, but I can't help but wonder sometimes if some of them weren't a bit insulted by certain conversations.
I think we'll be eating leftover sandwiches all week.
Today is shopping, tidying the house, a bit of work in the garden, and doing a bit of work but that can also be done in the garden on my clipboard.
A school chum from the states is in the UK and I'm supposed to meet her tomorrow evening for a drink. I have mixed feelings about it, as I had a similar realization about her to Mardatha's recent experience. Still, I haven't seen her in well over ten years and people change.
I've just been doing the meal plan for the week. We have lots of bits and bobs left over from the party to make use of, and I've come up with a couple of crazy, but fun sounding salads based on the supersix.
Right, I shall endeavour to catch up, but no promises!0
