OS today consists of talking to one of my ladies about loganberries. She says they are delicious so thinking of investing. Need to investigate.

Loving Julie Andrews and Ian Mckellen on One Show. :)

Chelsea flower show has tempted me to plant flowers of colour and beauty but I feel guilty even thinking about investing in something that isn't useful! First camellia and magnolia and now azalea - the gardens round here are lovely!

DH upset to find peas aren't perrenial!

We had meat pie for tea and do you know I think my pie days are finally over. I don't feel too good. Really rather heavy :(

The leftover sausage casserole from a couple of days ago, padded out with another tin of chopped tomatoes, and served with boiled rice.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

PX and PIC sending hugs to you both

Fuddle - who says flowers arent useful? Imagine your garden with some lovely flowers in full bloom, will you not smile when you walk past every day? will the girls not stop and sniff the lovely smells? I make sure we have a beautiful set of flowers outside every year knowing they will brighten my mood and enrich our lives with their beauty ;)

Hi Fuddle - Loganberries are delicious. I think they are a cross between a blackberry & raspberry (Mrs L may know more :)) so they are usually bigger than a Raspberry & a little on the 'sharp' side for taste (lovely!)
Very easy to grow & don't need much looking after. They freeze well & make lovely pies & jams & mix well with other fruit.

Plant some flowers too 'cos the bees like variety as well!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Spending money on beauty is kind of feeding into want and not need. My mentality is hardwired now. Filling the garden with fruits and peas feels good and useful and will repay practically.

I so know that some lovely shrubbery will repay us in different ways but when money has been tight it's difficult to give into want feelings. I don't 'do' wants anymore.

Fuddle, you'll need some flowers for the bees so they can pollinate your fruit or something like that I believe. I'm a novice gardener but my radishes tasted lovely in the salad tonight.
Spend less now, work less later.

    Hello everyone :)

((((((((((((( PRINCESSX87 ))))))))))))))) Have a huge hug and remember that we are all here for you. You and your family are you in my thoughts.

fuddle Why not send off for the free packet of bee friendly flower seeds and plant them with your girls? That way you can get some lovely flowers and feel like you are doing something useful. Personally I feel like beauty is a need and not a want. Sometimes your soul needs feeding more than your body does.

PIC I have been known to sneak into afternoon showings of kids films without my two now very grown up monsters. Enjoy the film :)

Memorygirl I made your flatbreads today and we had them with St Delia's lamb and cashew kebabs and red pepper and coriander relish. They were seriously good, even DS1 aged 18 was impressed. :D

Speaking of films, if you have a Showcase cinema near you, they do a thing called last chance to see on Thursday. If you have an Insider card (Their reward card) then it is £6 for two tickets. I know my local cinema is showing Pompeii, In Secret and The two faces of January tomorrow. Here's the website http://www.showcasecinemas.co.uk/events/last-chance-to-see

I am here and reading along and doing well. I'm run off my feet at the moment with the volunteering. This week it has added up to 3 1/2 days of work. I have made a good impression on two of the managers however, so I think it has been worth it. Thankfully next week is looking calmer.

I had my last session with my therapist today and can honestly say that I can't really believe how much I have changed since last year. I still have bad days, but I now know that I can work through them and come out the other side. I'm still on the anti-depressants and can see them being long term and I'm ok with that.

DS1 is in the depths of A-level revision and I'm trying not to bite my nails to the quick. I swear this is more stressful than taking my own. I can stop worrying so much on 20th June and then let it build up again until results day.

Much love and hugs to everyone xxxx

I look on the bright side where my mum was concerned, we never had food in the cupboard or soap or toothpaste etc, so I always have lots of everything in my cupboards. I wasn't allowed to learn to swim or ride a bike, so ensured my kids did both. My mum married too young, she & my dad were like the couple in Ryans Daughter, she hated work so got pregnant, gave up work, had me & within 3 months went back to work!
She was very disappointed with life her life & the people in it, such a shame, such a waste.

Im trying to look on the bright side with mine too. The roles have reversed and both my mum and dad have become vulnerable, very much like children. Like many my parents failed to protect me from abuse and that has caused a lot of heart ache but they have no-one else and I am their daughter and want to make their last years as happy as possible. I have a good relationship with my own kids, I don't have have an unhealthy hold over them like mum does over me. I tell them i love them 10 times a day and hug them often - all things that were denied to me as a child. I made a promise to each and every one as they were placed in my arms that I would do my best - only time will tell x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Sadly that's Nature's way - but society nowadays where families don't always live in the same home/street/town makes caring harder when that time comes. Two generations ago, granny & grandad would have had their own place in the family home, to be looked after as part of that family until they passed. Nowadays not so many families can live that way.

Hope all goes well with the next stage of your treatment Molly.

MOLLY that's just lovely and your children are very very lucky to have been born to you both, you are a really GOOD woman, Lyn xxx.

FUDDLE Silvasava is right Loganberries are a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry and we've grown them for years on the lottie. They are very prickly to harvest, the prickliest bit being in the calyx round the attached to the stalk part of the fruit so not ideal if the children are going to pick them. They do fruit prolifically and make a wonderful jam but they're a little on the sharp side to eat on thier own. They are best grown along wires against a fence and do tend to spread and root very easily so if you only have a small space you have to make sure and keep them in check each year and remove any plantlets or you'll end up with a loganberry forest.
