Good parenting and good daughtering there VJsMUM, she'll only gain strength from increased self knowledge and you'll find it much easier as a family to both talk about things and deal with any problems that arise, doesn't get any better than that in family terms, well done all of you, Lyn xxx.0

A switched on kid you have yourself there VJsmum. I am welling up at what a strong and sensible girl you have (love curious incident!) and even more so at your relationship. I can only hope to have the same parental nouse when I have to deal with sensitive issues with my two. I don't think I got involved with the advice VJs as others were so much more qualified to speak about it than I was but I wanted to say that if it was me, I think I would have held back till exam pressures were off. Thank goodness you did because your daughter has taken the lead and ultimately the stress away.
PS I know you lurk because things aren't as tough any more but you're a miss - what folks here told me is that when finances improve you should still have your wits and OS roots. Our finances are ok now and the toughies still let me hang out herebe grey to see you popping in every now and then too
What a dreadful day here! I was about to name it autumnal but I like autumn and I don't like this! Water and wind - yuk!
Ideas if you can? You know I have a condenser dryer? Well it collects a great deal of water. I empty it down the sink and it bothers me that I do. What I want to do is use it for the garden but as it has residue from washing powder I don't feel I should. Is there anything for washing machines that I could use that wouldn't effect edibles should I water them with the clothes washing water?
My toast and tea is scranned and supped. I am about to square the kitchen round then leave for my first call at 10.15. I get an hour for lunch as my lady is in hospital, where I will be working on my house keeping rota.0 -
FUDDLE you can use the water from the tumble drier in your steam iron, it's basically distilled water and as such will stop deposits building up in the iron as you use it, Lyn xxx.0

Readinbg posts backwards (as I often do!) so apologies to those Osers I have yet to get to.
Fantastic to hear about the communciation btwn you and your tuned in DD VJsmum. A big "phew" all round? Also as fuddle says - we miss your wise and helpful posts. Its not about the money on this thread anyway... well sometimes it is of course but the majority is the support side, the sharing and the laughing. Please post as often as you would like to
Fuddle - you sound SO organised, you put me to shame!
Kidcat - hope the poorlies get well soon.

2nd load to go outside and then skip off to counselling, a mix of looking forward to and dreading it today! Running around after and a last session at the gym and my much appreciated hot shower also as won't be able to go in half term.

Ooh presumably then, I can use it in my steam mop too? Though actually, I don't use my tumble drier much as I have a rotary airer with a rotaire cover.
Thanks everyone, I lurk along and pipe up if I can add something useful.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Fuddle - I've heard of using the water from the dryer in one's steam iron, and Lyn is right, it can be done, but check the instructions for your iron first (if you still have them) because the instructions for mine specifically say you must use tap water and not distilled water in it! My iron is "not designed for use with distilled water" apparently, though I have no idea why it should be a problem and I know other irons are quite happy with distilled water.
Before I had a frost-free freezer I used to save the water from defrosting it and use that in a previous iron.
VJ's mum - Great news about DD
Lyn -Is Docky all better now? I hope so.
I wonder how monnagran is getting on in Corfu - they've had some nasty weather there so I hope it's improved!
Hugs to everyone, especially those who are struggling atm for whatever reason xx0 -
Morning all
VJ's - I'm so pleased that you've been able to chat to DD about it all and of her doing - must be a relief to you to be able to get it off your chest. Hope the move away goes smoothly for her.
I got woken at 5am by a very bouncy kitten who wasn't going to let me go back to sleep - it's been a long day and it's not even lunch time.
I had a bit of a blonde moment the other day and bid on some curtains on fleabay - they match the living room curtains and I wanted to make them into door curtains to keep us toasty warm.....I won them, they came and they're a different colour to mine!!! (they do them in 4 shades). DH was a bit miffed as the picture looked so similar in colour to ours but obviously not. Anyway - they will work in my kitchen as door curtains so all's not lost....then I went to the web site to check if they still sold the right coloured ones and yes they do, they're in the sale and are now cheaper than the ones I won online.....pfft!! (I just went and brought them thanks to cashback from DD1's car insurance - she had a black box fitted and as she's driven sensibly we got a chunk of money back! huurraahhh!)
I've now got to go make an apron (white, Victorian pinny style) for DD1 who is off to a cosplay event tomorrow at Comicon in London - don't ask!
A friend dropped round with 65 eggs yesterday so that's meals sorted for a while - can't say no to 65 free range eggs fresh from the farm"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Ivyleaf I bet the iron manufacturer is in cahoots with iron descaler makers. Cynic I am.0

Fuddle - no you're not a cynic - you're a realistSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
