Busy few days ahead. Off with DH to wash the caravan down ready for our trip away. Been trying to pack things up so there's not a last mad panic (some hopes!) My lovely neighbour is looking after Pushkin for me 'cos we're going to France & then down to Italy to meet up with DS1 and his new partner They've been an 'item' for 2 years but she's just moved in with him last week & I get on really well with her - in fact it was her suggestion that we joined them!!!
I'm a bit apprehensive to tell the truth as we've not done such a long journey before but hey ho - here we go! I'll miss Push but I know she's in good hands & DS2 is checking the garden for me. I've even managed to set up a watering system on a timer in the greenhouse - get me!. Just our luck that all my strawberries will be ripening over the next couple of weeks - but at least my two 'house elves' will be able to help themselves
Off to find some more stuff that we need to take.........:)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I'm just popping my head around the door to say hello to everyone. I am in the shop today and need to get some shopping beforehand, so am short on time.
ginnyknit When my boys were small I could only play snap and poker, so taught them both. DS1 turned into a real card shark and has the best poker face ever. I still giggle when I remember DS2 age 4 saying "All in" as that was the only thing he knew about and losing all his chips to his brother. It took him ages to make the connection lol.
Love to all xxxx0 -
Ginny - she's gone for a sage green with an off white pale sage green for the walls along with some small curly decals just to 'fancy up' the corners! Little man is having a dinosaur room, great fun but not so sophisticated. He got mega excited though looking at the dinosaur decals on ebay.0

At christmas my stocking contained a Nakd bar, cocoa delight flavour which I put in the cupboard and forgot about, today in a nibbly moment it re-emerged and was delicious. I looked at the ingredients and realised I had everything in store so I had a go at making something similar and it's yummy!!!
4.8 oz pitted dates
2,9 oz raw cashew nuts
1.7 oz raisins (I used dried cherries and it's very nice)
0.6 oz of cocoa powder
2 teaspoons honey
just pop everything into a food processor and blitz until very finely chopped. Turn out onto a plate and squeeze small handfuls to compress it into a ball and then roll it in your hands to smooth the edges. I'm going to pop it into the firdge to set. It's very nice if you want a relatively healthy chocolate fix. This amount made 12 walnut sized sweeties.0 -
hello all,
haven't been on for one reason or another, hope you are all doing ok. Sending hugs to anyone who needs or want one...
So far today, i have been out shopping, spent a bit more than I planned but plenty of food to bulk out my freezers.
Done a little bit of baking today, been the first time in probably over a year, so happy with that.
Am off this week so plan is plenty of housework and maybe a day out with the family.
Catch up soon

Stilty that sounds like a lovely colour scheme - Oh yes its the same as my bedroom
Dgs has discovered dinosaurs as he has them on the bottom of his new shoes - so now he roars like a dinosaur!
Just nipped into Manchester as I have a day off...why...oh why...do I have these bright ideas. Although I was heading to the crafty shops I still had to negotiate the main bit and stupidly went for a look in Primarni - I buy their jewellery to make things but its a load of blingy tat now. Got what I actually wanted and made a quick escape to an arty low key coffee shop - bliss. Think I will hibernate again and buy online. Even the bus was awful, all different languages, mobile phones, all shouting. Its finally happened Im turning into Victor Meldrew :rotfl:
Thank you all for your kindness regarding DGS, the milestones are slow but he is a cutie pie and so cheeky in a nice way. Oh has been whisked away to his old cricket club to sit in the rain and wait for them to play. He has his packed lunch but I know he is hoping one of the Asian wives will send a big pot of food. Im going to have a bacon buttie and put my feet up now.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Afternoon all
Mrs LW - Those choccies sound lovely. I could just do with something choccy related...it's that 3pm thing. When I worked in an office you could tell the time by the rustling of choccy wrappers.
SQ - Thank you for the compliment on DD - I'm utterly biased but she did look gorgeous.
Stilty - DD's room sounds lovely - a colour scheme that will last for a good few years. Hope your eye improves soon and Yay for your Dad and his wallpapering!
My Dad has to go for a few tests on Tuesday as he's having circulation issues, it's come on quite suddenly so they're looking for a clot I assume. It's been the kick up the backside he needed and he quit smoking the day he went to the Dr. (let's hope it lasts) Mum has gone over to the e-cig thingy and says she's persevering with it for Dads sake.
Got some bargains at a bootsale this morning including a small pine table for £1 that I plan to mosaic with the tiles I got at the same booty last week for £1 - a bit of paint on the legs to brighten it up and I'll have a lovely side table for the conservatory.
Got huge bowls of tomatoes, grapes and strawberries there too and 6 huge avacados, he charged me £3 for the lot, I went through it all expecting some manky strawbs and grapes but only had to throw one grape away, the other handful of "right on the edge of being ok" ones went into the parrots cage, she's been munching away and I now have to go wash the bits off the floor!
When I started my tomato and pepper seeds off there were 2 pots that looked a bit different as they started coming through - they are now most definitely not tomatoes or peppers but I've no idea what they are so I need to go look at some pictures to see what I'm growing - what ever it is it's shot up (so it's probably a weed). I've got tons of courgette flowers emerging and my peas/mangetout and beans seem to have turned into triffids over night....can't wait to start harvesting."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Nope, I am putting my foot down with second hand this time. This is the second second hand freezer to go t-up in less than three years. I have had enough. We have bought a small fridge freezer and it is new. It was the cheapest and smallest in the shop and will do us fine. The store will take away the old appliance too. I do want to make do but at this time my heart isn't in second hand again. We knew it was coming and it has been budgeted for. It will arrive tomorrow. It's running costs are just shy of £28 for the year.
Nothing OS to report as working hard and by gawd it has been a pig of a weekend. I will NEVER go on-call again. The stress of having the responsibility to cover care when you have your own rota to fulfill is immense. I dont think I have ever been so drained. I am back out in 50 mins til 9.45 - fingers crossed nothing goes wrong in the hours that are left!
Only 2 calls tomorrow. MIL is coming down for the week with her caravan from next weekend! I am very excitedbe good to entertain and chat/do stuff. So house work is a must as well as finishing protecting the wooden fence and re-grouting the bathroom.

That used to be one of my Saturday morning jobs fuddle, I used to pop the girls white socks in the sink with a squirt of bleach topped up with hot water, let them have an hour whilst I did the hovering/washed the floors etc and then in the wash as normal. Used to come up lovely.
As of Friday I don't ever need to wash another school uniform again!!! Bittersweet really as it means my babies are all grown up but onwards and upwards
Pooky this was my thoughts when DS2 finished on Thursday although he does still have 2 maths exams so has to wear uniform for them; but Friday June 13 will be my last ever school uniform wash as all exams will be finished then. :T

Memory_Girl wrote: »LOL at all the white sock .......... and yes Biotex is the best.
But spare a thought for this Mum and the 10 pairs of plain black socks that need to be paired ever week .......... without muddling up the big uns and the little uns - drives me dafter!!
Savingqueen - you can be my sis if you like ................ on here you can have all the family you need (and probably much more than you would want)

My 2 boys had to both have plain black and they had different sizes, so I used to get 2 different types of top so i knew whose were whose. Now DS1 has a sports type sock so alot easier, DH always had navy so they didn't get muddled in.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
