MAR we have to get soft tops for He Who Knows as he had a DVT in his leg years ago and has circulation problems if they are elasticated. He usually goes for pure wool and buys them in packs of 12 from Fleabay, they're good quality and he says comfortable and very reasonably priced too. They've lasted him ages too so quite hardwearing.0

Mrs LW, thanks for looking for me. I've already tried the recipe on that link. TBH it was just like eating blocks of icing, so not the same really.
I shall just have to keep looking and experimenting. I want a taste of my childhood!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Fuddle - I've just bought my first Toastie bags in Morrisons - two for 1.79 & they can be used about 100 times they say. I'd have looked round elswhere but only thought about them last night!
I got some 'cos we've an electric toaster in the 'van & you can buy ready made Croque Monsieur in France in the garages & they make a good en route snack ........nom nomSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

I've never tried the toasty bags - are they any good? We have a cheapy sandwhich toaster but it's such a faff to clean....given the amount of cheese toasties that the girls and their boyfriends can get through in a few days, the bags might be a better option.
It's damp and miserable here but quite muggy. Need to pop to the shops to post a parcel and pick up some salad and bits for tomorrows lunch (DD2's birthday and my parents are coming). I've got a gammon in the SC so just want to chuck a salad together in the morning and boil off some new potatoes for a quick easy lunch. Off out for DD's birthday meal this evening, can't do it tomorrow as DD1 is working."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hmmm not had cheese toasties for ages (wanders off to have a think)Must use my stash up!0

Toasty bags are great fuddle & pooky, you can wash them as normal with your dishes. Just don't do as I did and put them down in the toaster twice. Set off the smoke alarm.0

Jazee,
This isn't a wartime recipe by any stretch--all that butter and sugar no way! However, I have seen adaptations of it elsewhere (can't seem to find them) that maybe used condensed milk in place of the butter and sugar--might give you and idea of proportions for experimenting.

Well the peace has ended, the trouble causing neighbour is back from her hols and has just stopped DH on the drive and asked him if he knew who the dog was that keeps messing on her front garden.
Funny old thing, we're the only people with dogs down our side of the street, hubby just said he didn't know and she walked off.
I can hand on heart say my dogs are never off the lead in the street ever! unless they are getting into the back of one of the cars and they don't go as far as her garden....too frightened of the others getting a walk and them being left behind
I don't know if she is starting trouble by upsetting us again or she is just trying to make conversation but she had a face of thunder. There are three dogs on the other side of the close but they don't go out either. It is a little convenient to say it only just started after the blocked drive incident as she has never mentioned it before and we used to speak to her every morning.
The woman is barking I tell you
Hubby is like a pig in the you know what after getting some bargains at B&doit I'm not sure what it is but it's been marked down from £55 to £1 so he's smiling like a Cheshire cat. The only downside is I had to go down with my car to help with the long pole things and you know how it is when you have to drive slowly with stuff balancing on your head shhhh :rotfl:
