Princess - sounds like that accountant was trying to pull a fast one! Glad it's sorted now.
Sounds like you've all been having fun with your bargains. I hate clothes shopping with a passion, luckily DD's are now at the age where I can say "here's £x - it's up to you what you buy but bear in mind that you have to wear it"....they'll both raid the CS's and bootfairs and refuse to buy branded trendy stuff. I'm glad they don't follow the crowd on clothes. DD2 has prom coming up, some of the girls dresses are £300+ it's stupid. It's one evening and it's a school only prom so they can't take boyfriends/girlfriends from other schools. DD2 found her dream dress on fleabay, £12.99. That's my girl!
Just put DH back to bed, he's having a really bad day, to the point I'm quite concerned about him. Shall see how he is tomorrow but otherwise I shall be phoning the GP for a word (or three).
Got lots of work to do this afternoon, just parcelled up some more cuts to go to their new homes"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Guess what? I'd just finished the last post and got myself organised with the magazine when there was a phone call and an agonised scream from downstairs. We were supposed to be going to lunch with some friends and had forgotten all about it - they'd just rung to see where we were. Panic stations.
Here I am now, overfed, overtired and having lost a good few hours writing time.
SQ & Ginny: The clothes sound good, so nice to have something different to wear.
Pooky: I'm with you about clothes shopping. I can always see beautiful things but know that they would look awful on me.
Princess: Good for dealing with that accountant. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life. Can you imagine the outcry if this happened to everyone? And if this accountant is to be believed it must apply to all employees.
Well, another phone call has interrupted writing this message so I'm feeling like giving up the unequal struggle and coming back to work late tonight when the rest of the world is sleeping!

Princess thats awful, well done to your OH for getting it sorted though,
Monna - I have those days too, yesterday was one.
pooky - hope your DH picks up tomorrow,
Nice to hear of people getting bargains, like Monna I find lots of beautiful items but they look awful on me0 -
Princess, that sounds dodgy, hope Oh's brother will take the matter further, sounds like embezzlement to me - is that the right word???
Pooky sending hugs, so worrying, these men, arent they. We got to Mums on Monday and Oh said ' I feel a bit odd, keep your eye on me' Only 25 miles from home via the motorway. Anyway we had a butty and a drink and waited a while and it passed. He has been in bed mostly, since, apart from our hour out today - we know how to live dont we?
Dgs came for an hour whilst Mummy and Daddy went to parents evening. We were going to their house but he asked to go to Grandma's, half an hour in he fell asleep so Mummy went and did my shopping for me. He woke up in time to go home - this babysitting is a breezeClearing the junk to travel light

I was shocked on Tuesday when I done a compare shop with a well known comparison site to relies that Asda & Morrison actually turned out cheaper then aldi. That’s with the delivery added on.
Did a shop with my OH at my local aldios for the first time today, prices were not too bad I felt it was better value for money than some stores. The thing that shocked me, was at the check out... the cashier was basically throwing it at us!!
OH almost made me leave the trolley & walk out especially when she laughed after I asked if she could slow down so I could pack my shopping as I wanted. More to the point I suffer with sore hands & rushing gets me stressed & causes "dropseys" (as I call it) Really has put me off going back:(
I've been told it's the same set up as in Lidlos, they want you to stuff it all back in the trolley then pack it after when u get to your car?
Anyone else feel rushed/pushed by their attitude?"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0 -
madammim - both stores have a policy of you packing into the trolley and then repacking at the packing shelf behind. Its not ideal, and we have people in our store who complain, but if everyone packs fully at the till the queues are horrendous, our store only has four tills and these are often all open with queues. I think they need the longer supermarket tills as they are so busy now.
Saying that in our store the staff will place items straight into the trolley for you which saves the issue of you feeling rushed etc0 -
Evening all,
Stopped work early and baked some cookies. My printer has packed it in and the new one doesn't arrive until tomorrow. Work will go more smoothly after that so felt it was best to stop agonising.
Decided to forgo the Aldi vouchers. I think it will just tempt us to spend well above budget, buying things we don't need rather than stocking up. Perhaps next month when I've planned for it.
MadamMim, it took me a while to get accustomed to the Aldi throw. We pack ours into rucksacks to carry home anyway, so even normal supermarkets feel a bit rushed for that. I find it helps if I use a particular system when putting it onto the belt--heavy things go on first, light but durable things next and breakables/fragiles on last. That means I don't have to be so careful when I catch it at the other side. My OH manages the paying while I play catcher. Its nearly impossible to have your card ready and catch at the same time. I've also learned to just sweep it all into the trolley and sort it out at the packing shelf. Since we need to organize it by weight into our packs anyway it works out. What winds me up is when a family will allow several children to sit/stand on the shelf when it is clearly busy and crowded. I understand managing little ones and shopping is challenging but it is very discourteous in my view to allow several children to take up packing space when there are clearly people waiting for it.
Right. Time for a nice bath for me and then perhaps an early night.x0 -
Thanks Kidcat & Fairyp, appreciate the feedback. I kinda knew I was supposed to pack at the back (thanks to aldios) yet she was so fast she literally pushed various items into the trolley & onto the floor!
It was also the manhandled rolls, bread & other items, I did ask her if she realised we had to eat the food & that digging her fingers into the chicken to pick it up wasn't very nice. She couldn't have given a hoot:p
So I'm torn, think small shop for certain items if needed but for the normal shop I'll return to my local morrys where the staff are fab & very helpful when my dropseys are playing up;)
