    Morning,

SQ, my OH is similar. He has taken over the meal planning and weekly shop for awhile, but for some reason thinks that planning five meals will get us through the week. While his weekly shop bill is lower than mine his 'just pick up a few things' bill is much higher and we eat a lot less fruit and veg. I find it hard not to point this out or tot up how much more we are spending at every turn. He doesn't seem to have a mental spreadsheet that calculates all of this stuff like I do.

Puss has grown so much since we got her, but is still a very small cat. I can easily carry her in the crook of my arm, but she doesn't seem to have a concept of her size. Last night while we were eating she became entranced by the dangling tie on my wrap dress. I pulled it into my lap where she couldn't see it and she then began attacking my lap trying to get her 'toy' back. After several attempts (and several firm 'no maggie' comments she came at me from behind so I reached around to scoop her up and she was wrongside up dangling from my hand. She was then sent out of the dining room for a few minutes to calm down (she thinks being hauled from dangling positions and put on the floor is a game). Fortunately such protracted naughtiness and attacking humans is rare for her. :rotfl:

Right, time for me to get to work.

    Morning doorsteppers,

Both children slept past their usual waking times but got ready and off to school ok though both had broken nights and both said they had tummy aches but would manage. DS9 looks really tired, he has 1st school gardening club after school today so hoping the extra exercise will help him sleep tonight. Earlyish nights all round I think.

I still feel like pants, not even sure why so I am not doing much from "the big list" but catching up with laundry as we have sunshine and doing the essentials first. Other stuff will just have to wait. Making time before school run to take a friend out for a cuppa, the one who lost her mum recently. I want to make sure I see her regularly for the foreseeable future.

Not sure what to do for dinner, have leftovers from yesterdays roast but not quite enough. Might keep them until tomorrow when its just me and kids eating together and do an easy pasta meal tonight, even have some YS shop bought sauce in the freezer.

back to no smilies... well that was short lived, about 2 days

    take care

I do applaud all you who are doing your degrees. It's bad enough when you are a full time student but I cannot conceive what it must be like fitting in the studying and essay writing with houshold tasks and child care. I know that after doing 'O' and 'A' levels and finishing my teacher training I wrote my last essay and thought,"Never again." Since then I have written thousands of letters, a children's book, poems for all my friends, church services and currently the church magazine. So never say, "Never again!"

Did my mammoth lunch cooking session today - roast pork, apple sauce, roasties, stuffing, cabbage, carrots and peas followed by meringues, peaches and cream. One of my kitchen assistants didn't turn up and no-one turned up to do the washing up so 3 of us did all the cooking, dishing up AND all the washing up. For 60+. I'm exhausted.

Off to watch some mindless telly.

I feel tired cooking and washing up for 4, just thinking about 60 (plus!) is more than exhausting for me! Monna, you are one in a billion! Hope you enjoyed the mindless TV.

Just finished 1st proofread of DH's first draft of his accounting course project. He said to leave it til the weekend - would that be the same weekend you would like me to keep the children out of the house all day so you can revise for your exam while I also provide meals and snacks, supervise several hours of children's homework etc. No me thinks its best to do it before the weekend. Very impressed with what DH has done! And reasonably impressed with myself for understanding it well enough to proofread. Ah about 40 pages of an accounting report.... I should sleep well tonight... if it wasn't for the rumbling snores I can hear from upstairs....

Actually truth be told I will confess I have actually enjoyed (yes you read that correctly) proofreading an accounting report....might not say that tomorrow when I look at it all again hee hee

night to anyone still up and reading..... hope there is a little more action on here tomorrow... where was everyone today?

  • Sorry SQ for not being here , but I do have a note from my mum:rotfl:

I've been out for the day , met a good friend of my late DH . We went for lunch then a look in the charity shops, I brought , a book, a set of 4 very nice coffee cups and saucers and 2 buckets for my courgettes , ( mind you they are still only tiny little seedlings at the moment ) . And I only spent 6.23 , lunch was paid for by my friend.
The cups will be used to make some cup candles for my daughters birthday . And the book is dawn french 's autobiography.
Then went to MIL for Chinese , which took over 2 hours to be delivered:eek:, after a couple of calls to them , they eventually rang to say that they had found the order under the till and it hadn't been cooked , so we're doing it fresh there and then and it was with us within 20 minutes, with a promised of a half price meal next time..
Any way home now, a mixed day of emotions, crying and laughter and lots of memories.
Tomorrow I am off to help another friend taste coffee blends for her new cafe, so expect to be bouncing of the wall ... Ops that's later today. Let's hope all this social ing and activity help me settle into a better sleeping pattern.

Monna . Wow that's a lot of cooking.... How do you do it.?

SQ can I borrow the essays, it might help me sleep.

All this talk of courses, reminds me that I wanted to do my Ptls last year but due to DH's illness I put it off.. I think I will start to have a look around next month to see what's around.
Well gonna try and get some sleep.
    Wish me luck..

Mostly nice things happening - I had some free bits and pieces arrive in the post to review, a new student assigned to me and another student pass a test, hooray, hooray.
Going to a lunchtime concert on Friday with DS, good timing as it's his last week of having Friday off.
Having to investigate how to correct Sainsbury's Energy's over - generous estimate of my fuel use, given that summer is a coming in and paying way over the odds for what I am using needs correcting before it becomes ridiculous.

CC, I did the fore-runner of Ptlls, and ended up doing a Cert Ed, then a degree in post - compulsory education.
My books are slightly outdated now but I would be happy to post what I have to you if you want them.
You'll enjoy the Dawn French bio, lots of her life has been spent in Cornwall, though there are some bits that made me gasp.
