  • Hi guys .
Weather here has Been rain followed by more rain, so decided to have a pj day.
But decided about an hour ago, I needed to bake, so made my fave carrot cake recipe, but it seems I have a demonic possession with in my cake.... It had risen high above the tin then flowed down into the bottom of the oven ...

Demonic possession is common in cakes CC. At least in this hoose. Chuck it in a plate and drown it in custard, that'll fix it!

Mar, I use the Nivea daily essentials rich cream--there are several in the range it is the one with the pink lid as that is the richest one. My skin is both dry and sensitive and this does the trick. My OH started nicking it when he was swimming regularly and now we both use it. If you buy it in b00ts it is expensive. Its a bit cheaper in Wilk0s and much, much cheaper in Savers.

On the rest of me I use a cocoa butter body butter from the pound shop. I find that the scented stuff in pretty bottles is terrible on my skin, makes it much drier. Cheap stuff is usually fine, its more about consistently remembering to put it on which is harder in winter when I just want to get my bl00dy clothes back on!

CC, I think that demon has visited my house too. Give him a kick in the bum from all of us when you're feeling ready to face the oven.
  • What a difference a day makes, we have bright sunshine and it's warm again so when the male part of the household returns from morning walkies we're going to a local boot fair to see what's what!!! I'm after a travel cot for the Zebra child for when he comes to stay with us in a couple of weeks time and anything else to keep him amused also a milk saucepan and a bigger double pan/porringer as mine is an enamel one and is getting increasingly battered as time goes on. I love having a wish list of things to look out for, it doesn't matter how long it takes, they always turn up sooner or later.

A good morning to you all,

    happy bargain hunting Mrs LW!
Fuddle it is so good to hear how happy you all are... you have made your dreams into reality.

I use the Alldeedums day cream with SPF15, its in a white tube with red and navy writing.

Had a lovely couple of days - walks in nice places and home cooked grub. Saturday I took our boys to a local nature reserve and we got to see the cutest fluffy ducklings and brief glimpses of bunnies playing what seemed to be hide and seek. Banana and raisin pancakes for lunch and yummy sweet and sour pork for dinner.

Yesterday we went on a fab egg hunt in our local country park - in the rain! To begin with the rain was light and it added to the fun but towards the end it was heavy and not quite so fun! There was a numbered map with areas with an egg hunt in and other places of interest with quiz type questions. Boys loved all elements of it, DS7 charging ahead shouting excitedly as we got to each spot. Lots of interesting things to see including some very old cottages and 3 curious alpacas, they are the funniest creatures aren't they?

Got back to collect the end of hunt prize, a choccy bunny and DH announces he has lost his phone and our car keys. We had walked a long way and not stuck to the designated route (have to be different) but DH was like a homing pigeon and found both items fairly quickly. Comfort food in form of cottage pie and steamed veggies for dinner.

Right off to learn how to play chess, DS7 is teaching me!

    take care

  • Boo, the boot fair wasn't on!!! First time in the 20 years we've been here that there hasn't been one on an Easter Monday in that particular field. Never mind, there is one next Sunday so if the weather is OK we'll go then and in the meantime I've been having a productive time in the kitchen and got some lovely fresh rhubarb into the slow cooker with vanilla extract, made a roquefort cheese and spinach quiche for supper tonight and cooked some hard boiled eggs to go with our salad Lyonnaise for lunch which I am hoping to eat out in the garden as it's so nice and warm today. Yesterdays rain has perked the garden up no end and the asparagus is popping new noses up on all the plants, good stuff!!!

The change in weather overnight has been astounding....it's glorious here as well today. It didn't get to 10 degrees here yesterday and this morning it was 17 at 9am! I've got all the doors and windows open for some fresh, warm air.

DH is having a real nasty time of it with his change in meds - we have to remember to make friends at the end of each day at the moment as it's very hard to remain civil at times. He has decided that he wants to wash the car....he will spend the next few days in bed because of it but I've had to bite my tongue. He's sitting on a stool with the power washer aimed in the general direction and whilst I know he won't admit it to me now, he's regretting starting. Men!!!!

SQ - Glad you managed to find the keys and phone...I can imagine a few choice words were floating through your head.

Popped to Mr S as I noticed they had some easter soft toys the other day - one of which is the giant version of a bunny DD2 had when she was little (still has it)...it's one that her and DH used to have a bedtime game with every night and she can't bear to part with it.....When I saw the giant version last week I really wanted to get it for her birthday but wasn't willing to pay £7 for a soft toy...I know Mr S reduces its seasonal stock quickly so a quick trip this morning meant I bagged one for £2.10! Happy bunny!! (literally)

Hi everyone, had a busy morning so far. We decided to decend on my mum first thing, today is my late dads birthday, he would have been 72. So we decided to start on the garden. We spent 4 hours weeding and digging. We are perhaps 1/4 way through. I have the pleasure of visitng the people that own the property that goeson to my mums. It has a huge half dead leylandi tree that is encroaching further into mums garden, so I was wondering if they would mind us trimming it back quite a bit.
We are going for a celebratory drink in a bit, we always raise a toast to my dad.
Nice to hear everyone is having a good time as a family over easter, its what bank holidays should be about.

Don't forget Thursday is MIRROR day for ALDI vouchers.
will pop by later, take care all x

Mrs LW we found a boot fair this morning but it was rather disappointing, only about 20 stalls. Still, I got some strawberry plants and stuff for the hanging baskets all very cheap so can't complain.
