Hello dear toughie friends,
Thinking of you and your sister Shegar for tomorrow. Good to hear your DH is settled and he in turn will be glad to know you are staying at your sisters. Let us know how you are when you are able to.
Glad the little boy was collected PIC.
I have unending love for my children, so much so that I have an abundant supply to share so anyone in need of maternal love, please accept some of mine.
I have been spoilt rotten today. Breakfast in bed (the biggest bowl of cereal I have EVER had in my life. (DS7 poured it out in an enormous bowl.) Homemade cards with the loveliest words and a box of yummy chocs from my boys. DH made a late lunch, full English, again the biggest plates full I ever seen. Way, way too much bacon so the leftovers are in the fridge for tomorrow.
And the highlight, DS7 gave me a shoulder rub/massage. Then DS9 wanted to get in on the act and they covered my hands in handcream, so much cream my whole arms had some too and tried to rub it all in. It was lovely and hilarious at the same time. No handcream left but lovely soft arms
I have been taking advantage of the sunny weather and washing laundry all weekend including all the bedding. Other than being in and out of the garden with laundry, I haven't venutured anywhere and its been lovely.
Just had a pot of tea and choccies and need to cobble together a 60s and a 40s outfit for boys' school dance performance. DS9 is wearing school trousers, a nice shirt ("party shirt") and tie for 1940s. DS7 needs a 60s outfit so off to customise a top. I have an old orange flowery top that might do the trick and if all else fails, I have an old plain white t-shirt and I will draw some big flowers on. Just wearing jeans for bottoms as we have no flares! Thinking of adding long beads and maybe a headband.

Afternoon toughies
Its been a really busy week and while I have managed to read most days I just haven't had any time to post.
CC - huge ((hugs)) the others all expressed their condolences so much than I.
Shegar - Sending you and your sister very best wishes for tomorrow and the days following
Nutty - so glad your hospital appointment went so very well.
Lovely reading all the mothers day stories todaywe visited my parents yesterday and took gifts. She waited until we were getting in the car and made a very loud public announcement that she has to go for a scan this week, after having failed to bring her cholesterol down through diet (no surprises really, if she stopped eating pies, pasties, butter and cream cakes it would help) she was given medication which has sent other levels soaring. She has stopped the meds and the levels are rocketing down apparently.
I assume this means its purely a check that everything has returned to normal again rather than the life saving emergency she dramatised.
OH was stunned at the insensivity to wait until we were getting in the car, but as I pointed out a rational conversation in the privacy of her home would have not given her the drama she craves. Unfortunately for her, the outside announcement didnt accrue the drama either so she was left rather slighted.
I have my hospital appointment on Wednesday, which is two weeks since seeing my GP. The letter came this week and the appointment is not for any kind of scan etc but instead with the surgery dept, so am a little concerned.
OH has worked 70+ hours this week again, and the fall out here is exhaustion all around. By Friday when he eventually arrived home it was to a house silent and dosing in front of TVs, way past bed times but with no energy left to actually move anyone we just all sat like zombies
We missed kitty neutering this week, as I had to take DS15 to his college interview the night before, leaving DD19 here to herd the littlies and taxi DS10 to swimming lesson. The interview turned into three different interviews and two online assessments (which we had no idea would happen) we expected to be home in time to feed kitty and then separate him from the food ready for the next day. We didnt get home until nearly 10pm though so it was far too late. Reschheduled for next week, funny moment was when DS15 was arguing we should breed him instead, to which I said no, and he replied " but its not very MSE of you mum, you wont be getting your full moneys worth!! You are cutting off his bits, how much did they cost??" DD19 and I were in stitches for days
Absolutely gorgeous day here, would be ideal to spend in the garden, however too many house bound jobs have carried over and we really need to get them out of the way this weekend.
Am rather excited that its only five more school days until we finish for the Easter holidays:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Hello OS doorstep
I've got a quick question but couldn't see the quick questions sticky anymore so thought I'd ask here instead of creating a whole thread. Hope you don't mind!
I want to bake a brown loaf in my lovely new (well, to me anyway!) breadmaker. I bought Tesco Brown Flour but saw there was wholemeal flour too. The brown flour was cheaper so I went for that one. Is there a significant difference and is brown flour ok for a healthier-than-white loaf? Thanks! xxxGC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

Welcome comp bunny, you've come over to the mad house here. Your more than welcome to stick around and join in, we are friendly honest!!!
Im not a bread baker but mrslw should pop by later and im sure she will have the answers.
Voucher for aldi have all been allocated, I have messaged the people I have been able to help. Sorry couldn't help everyone. I will openly confess I have already used the crisp and fzn apple pie coupons, so sorry for that. But all the other % are there and the £5 coupon.
OH is asleep he was up at 5am to go to work delivering flowers for mothers day, he was delivering lots yesterday as well. DD is attatched to an ipod and looking on the net, and I get to have 5 mins to myself.
I visited mum this morning, took her a teddybear doorstep, DD bought her a top and other DD got her a scarf. She said she was spoilt, and she was but she is worth it. Tomorrow we are going for tea and a sneaky cake in the garden centre as its cheaper than today - we are MSE here!!
Take care all xBSC member 137

Wholemeal Flour is 100% of the wheat as milled. Brown flour can be 85% flour (some of the wheat germ and bran removed) or white flour with bran added back to it or anywhere inbetween.
Unfortunately Tesco's website isn't forthcoming about where on the scale its Brown Flour lies.
At worst, white flour with added bran is still nutritionally superior to white flour. At best (85% flour) its almost indistinguishable.
Sorry its not a simple answer.0 -
Thanks Nuatha
Well at least its better than just white! I'll use this bag up and use then wholemeal in future if it fits in OK with the grocery budget!

Tesco have Wrights Strong Wholemeal at £1.19 and part of their 3 for 2 baking promotion at the moment. Aldi's Pantry Strong Wholemeal is 99p, both are decent bread flours.
Homemade white bread is far better nutritionally than many bought breads.
I regularly bake a 25% wholemeal 75% white loaf as Herself is less than keen on wholemeal.0
