We're down on the edge of the world......it takes less time to get to France than it does the Capital so Scotland is another thing altogether.

Whilst I'd love her to have the experience of being anywhere she wants, the practicalities of getting there and back (distance, money and time) will inevitably get in the way. She's got plenty of time to so see the country later on in life.

Fluffy kitten has eaten well today but has fought off any notion of taking her antibiotic - she's so strong now that even wrapping her in a towel is a herculean task....she's also really good at being Houdini as soon as the medicine box is pulled out. I think we can safely say she's feeling a lot better.

I went on a week's course at Stirling over 30 years ago and it is a beautiful place but had quite a few suicides there which put me off a bit.

    Re polish/Polish

There is the story of a working guy who was enlisted for WW2 and was surprised to be led off to a private office where they discussed him being dropped off in enemy territory, collecting intelligence, translating etc - when he asked how he was supposed to be able to do all that -they pointed to the entry on the form "French Polisher" - he then pointed out that was his job polishing furniture- not meaning he could speak French or Polish.

Good news indeed PX87. You'll now be jumping every time the phone rings. Thank goodness they are in their own home - what a lovely time for them.
I can't manage to beat 13lbs but I was 'over 10lbs'. They were a lot less precise in the thirties. BUT... my poor Mum was only 4ft101/2, (she was most insistent on the 1/2) and weighed just 6 stones before she was pregnant with me. It wasn't even a very difficult birth, I think she was only in labour about 6 hours. When my brother was born he was only 71/2lbs and Mum was disgusted, but that labour was only 3 hours. The midwife said that if Mum was planning any more children she was going to put up a tent on our lawn.

I note a lighthearted atmosphere tonight. Hope everyone gets a good night and I'll see you all tomorrow - in between preparing a buffet for 40. One day I will be able to say 'No'.

Quite tired, but just wanted to mention my "tea towel and dishcloth SYSTEM" as yes, it is a system and you're the first lot I've ever met who didn't think I was bonkers:D. I generally get a fresh one out each time I start to cook. So, a clean tea towel and a clean dishcloth. The tea towel is used until mucky, usually use two to three if I'm cooking a big meal. The dishcloth is the same, although it generally lasts through the washing up. Then I spray the counters with disinfectant, wipe with the dischcloth and hot water, then dry with the least mucky tea towel. Then anything wet gets hung over a wee laundry basked I have on the bottom shelf of some open shelving we have. Dry things get tossed in. Anytime I'm doing a hot wash during the week the basket gets bunged in and I periodically pull them out for a bleaching. My OH doesn't understand the system and this is part of why laundry is my task.:rotfl: I'm also forever coming behind him and tossing his tea towels into the basket. He has, however, learned to use the dishcloths with the disinfectant sprays on the bins each time he empties them and then hangs them on the basket. He just hasn't caught on to the changing tea towels excessively and washing them bits.

Pops, meant to say earlier, glad the fruit bowl is working out for you. Personally, I've never wanted any sort of domestic "help" apart from two things--ironing OH's shirts and keeping lots of little boxes of chopped up fruit and veg in the fridge. I'd be living in luxury if I had someone to chop up pineapples and melons and the like. Might be another sign I'm nuts.;)

Right I'm tired, off to bed now. Hugs to any and all who need them and a nice cuppa and a slice of cake to everyone...and not to worry, it is magic cake that is healthy;)

Gosh, I am bemused and bedazzled by all this talk of daily bleaching and boiling dishcloths. I will obviously never make it as a domestic goddess; suffice to say mine don't smell and I haven't poisoned anyone yet .....

    evening toughies :)

    so glad baby is ok

Pooky your day sounds wonderful :)

We visited Longleat today and it was incredible, kids all loved it and we had a spectacular day. We were supposed to go into London tomorrow but I have wimped out, I think its just too far to drive and trains cost a fortune unless booked in advance, so instead we are heading to Cardiff to see the Dr Who exhibition, have promised the kids I will look at trains to London from home and pre book them for a day trip in a few weeks :)

Jem I hope everything went ok today

    Mardatha - ((hugs))

As for babies - my first was five and a half pound, my second was eight pound 12, third was seven pound seven and then the last was six pound six. Being five foot tall, the eight pounder was an incredibly difficult birth and I have no idea how I did it - midwife was stunned too :) so respect to anyone who has managed any bigger :)

Phew, thanks The Cake, I was starting to think I was a right dirty mare.

My dishcloth gets bunged in the wash if it looks or smells iffy, the tea towel if its looking grubby. I guess I get through about 2 to 3 of each a week. I don't disinfect the sides (or anything else) - ever! They get washed down though. Tell a lie, I did unearth a bottle of anti bac when I'd had norovirus to try and stop it spreading and for that reason will replace it when it's gone. I've probably had it since the kids were toddlers and the youngest is now 14!

I was a mere 7 1/2 lb baby but I had one who was just over 8lb (DD) and one just under 10 lb (DS). His was far a easier and quicker birth than hers - the big ones get themselves out. Mum had 6 of us altogether, the biggest being 12lb  My mum also was quite small.

I will be adding Astonish to the list, when i go in to town on Monday.

Pops, hope you have a lovely day out. Can't remember where you're going though?

Glad you're having a lovely holiday, Kidcat. you deserve it. Harry Potter is wonderful, isn't it? TRuly "Magical"

    Hi all.
Been shopping tonight I spent about £74
On a whim I bought a £2 scratch card.... I've just scratched it off and I've actually won £100.00 !!! I can't believe it. It more than covers the cost of the shopping. It will come in very handy towards having the bathroom done out. :D

Fantastic! Tattycat. Free food and money diverted to your home, that's a result! Great start to the weekend.

It may be late but I am just about to have a ham salad with potato wedges, cheese and garlic and herb dressing:)
