PX87 have a read through the Preparing for Winter thread, it's the latest incarnation of many before it and all of them are full of sensible and practical ideas to make homes warmer, keep people warmer and fed , car packs for when travelling oh everything winter related, good stuff. I start preparing for winter here just as spring starts, that way I can spread the cost of things right through the year. I'm the idiot who normally gets money off winter things by buying them from country shows in the height of summer, I've had discounts on sheepskin hat and gloves and a very heaveweight Waxed Jacked that way so far, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Yep, one thing about the "toughies is that they are rock solid strong ladies
MrsL maybe when you get time post one or two of the more straightforward recipes, I think people would like that
*mental picture of us all floating around in hats and white gloves, lightly polishing one's bannisters or family silver with a fantastic smelling concoction*Or me in my tiny kitchen, hair every which way, cackling with glee at how good Astonish is at de-icking the stove. Tell ya, if and when I buy another gas stove, I shall have one with pan supports as individuals not pairs, so they can soak in the wp bowl.
Re dishcloths in these circs, I would get a bucket and put some soda crystals in and fill with scalding hot tap water, stir to dissolve and soak overnight, wring out and put thru a hot wash. Very little will survive such treatment. HTH.savingqueen wrote: »:j great to hear Princess! 8lb is a good old weight. Sounds like all will be well, brilliant, just brilliant!
DS9 was 8.3 and DS6 9.1  I am just under 5ft 5 and someone commented that they had a lot of respect* for me giving birth to DS6. The midwives were pushing for a C-section (DS9 was an emergency C-section) but I was just pushing, stubbornly not wanting a 2nd C-section with a toddler to cope with at home. 26 hours later and bingo... DS6 arrived. One of my pals (5' 4" and a slim size 12) birthed a bouncing 13.5 pounder..........she discovered that midwife-speak baby's a good size should be translated as OMG!!!!!

You may imagine me seeing her at 7 months gone, tummy the size of a beachball, with my eyes out on stalks, asking if it was going to get much bigger ('twas her second).
Ohhh yes, she prophesied grimly.:rotfl:It was bit like living around an unexploded mine, we were all glad when bubs had made a safe landing and Mum and babe both well.
Sometimes, you just know that some lads are born to be rugby players, don'tcha? Someone else I know nicknamed their lad Tank at an early age, on grounds that he was built like one.
I myself was a modest 8 lb-er but was 20 inches long at birth and am a whisker under 5' 11" as an adult.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Evening all.
Had a dreadful day yesterday, the new physio I am supposed to do had really kicked off the back pain again and to make things worse I took my migraine preventer by mistake instead of my blood pressure tablet in the morning. The problem is that I take the preventer at night as it knocks me out. Still not sure how I managed to get through the day at work. Feel better today and the pain is not a severe.
We are getting a good amount of strawberries from the garden and the ones on the lottie are now starting to ripen now as well. The courgettes are also starting to crop well. I love eating home grown produce.
GQ the astonish really does a good job. Very apt nameI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

I feel positively inadequate now GQ only being 5lb 6oz at birth and only reaching 5'2" :rotfl:
and my mother would go shopping and forget about me in the High Street in my pram! I suspect that's why my GM used to look after me on Saturdays :rotfl:Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Ok, question for you all.
I have just tidied cupboard under sink in kitchen and to my horror have found about 20 disgusting grubby dishcloths(so embarrassing).
I was going to boil them in a pan to try and get them clean. Mr TC says it's probably a waste of money and I should throw them away and buy some more
So my questions are:
1) would it be more cost effective to just replace them?
2) if not what should I put in the pan to clean them with (apart from water)?
Many thanks for any responses.
Yes we are all different in how we do how housework etc, but this is what ive always done with the dishcloth....
I only ever have one on the go at one time, usually its a morning thing with me , after ive washed up breakfast dishes , I always jif and bleach the sink and bowl , dry sink and taps with kitchen roll, then put a little bleach in the bowl and dish cloth with hot water , leave it in there for a hour or two , that way you never get a dirty smelly dish cloth , it always keeps clean......
I know im a fussy mare , always have been , but thats me ........If you do it everyday it only takes a few minuets .....................Sheila0 -
