ha ha, that'll teach me not to read something properly. OK, recipes made from furniture polish may not be quite so tasty.0 -
Well done The Cake!
I will remember the tea bags!
When I went to Uni I had never been to the city, much less the Uni. It was a very large city (one of the two or three top largest in the US) and I had to fly half way accross the country. My parents waved me off at the airport, and I admit I was a little dumbfounded when one of my pre-assigned flat mates had her parents come and stay for three or four days to help her get used to taking the university shuttle bus! We had mostly self-catering plans--although i think we had a meal plan with 1-2 meals per week. Her parents stocked the fridge with energy bars and juice. As in, that was her food.:eek:I found myself wondering what she was going to do at dinner time. One of the other girls bought apples, a bag of rice, and posh ice cream and coffee, again, I found this confusing. Luckily the third girl also knew how to cook and between the two of us we managed to institute regular shopping trips where we all went together to help carry and make meals from scratch. They're all reasonable cooks now, although one has given it up as her hubby does it. We started off learning how to make omelets. I was quite the bossy boots and insisted they must all know how to cook.:rotfl: Fortunately they saw past my bossiness and used to tease me affectionately about my OS ways and we're all still good friends. All that to say, I think you're daughter will be fine, Moments!
Had a good morning of work, now just need to do the same this afternoon! I must admit that I love working from home. I like being able to pop down and hang out washing, start dinner or defrost things, and just generally mooch about at my own pace. I think I get far more work done as well, but then I quite like my own company. My OH goes crazy and will often pop out for a paper or a run just because he can't stand being cooped up.0 -
Hi all,
Just wanted to update that baby is fine!!!!!! :j:j:j
She’s above the national average for size, Infact their now estimating that she could be over 8 pounds!
They are saying she has a tubby belly & is clearly eating well, Downside now is that we still have to wait to meet her!
She has engaged further to the point where my brother & sil have been told, to expect her anytime. With no promises.
(Not sure that answered any of their questions, however, at least they have the piece of mind now that all is well with the little diva!)
Thanks for your kind words.

Well finally got to the end of the posts so far, lol taken me about a week on and off. You door steppers are a busy bunch. Would post more but cramming lunch down my throat and trying to get stuff ready to go worktoday's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Forgot to offer Mardatha some hugs and sweeties.
I've just been watching one of J. Oliver's 15 minute cooking programmes while I at my sandwich. I was watching the stroganoff one to see if I could pick up any tips, but I was horrified. He tipped in pickles, pickle juice, a sprinkle of salt and then added more salt to the meat, all the while bragging about how healthy it was. I know salt plays an important role in flavour, but in this day and age where so many people need to watch their intake, I wouldn't have thought pickle juice was the way to make a dish healthy!0 -
The polish/Polish confusion has made me smile - thank you toughies :T
MAR, I only venture onto a couple of other threads as I find unkind and unnecessary comments seem to intrude elsewhere. Please keep the contributions coming here, it wouldn't be the same without you.
PRINCESS, sorry you are feeling anxious. It's horrible isn't it and if people can't see something wrong with you on the outside they sometimes don't understand how difficult problems on the inside are
Don't worry about the baby scan, sometimes the way a baby is lying makes it difficult to measure. I was told first Dd was going to be 'small' and my FIL blamed me for being a vegetarian and said I ought to eat some beef. DD was over eight and a half pounds so I wouldn't call that small!
JEM, hope you have good news.
MONNAGRAN, I think tea and cake would be the perfect way for people to sit and reflect, very comforting and undemanding.
LYN, I'm glad you weren't attached to the hair that got wound round the Hoover!! How is Docky finding this hot weather? The Labs are trying to stay cool but our silly chocolate lab lies in the full sun then comes in panting and wondering why he's hot:rotfl:
MOMENTS, so glad you have made your decision. Enjoy
Edited to say glad all is well with baby0 -
Hooray! Good news Princess!x0

MY Ds was a premmie and had to be kept calm and I always dipped his dummy in the honey - just a smear -and when he had whooping cough the hospitals were full so he stayed home with Gp calling everyday. She saw the honey and as she said ' I dont necessarily agree with it but if it works do it!' He recovered amazingly fast and has beautiful teeth and has never seen a dentist in 32 years.

They use sucrose as pain relief in NICU and PICU so that is the reason honey worked it's magic xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Hi everyone!
I am just about keeping up with you all but for some reason haven't felt like posting lately so haven't. Hope you don't mind, I have been reading along, thinking of you all and sending positive thoughts, just not typing them out as such.
I am in deep thinking and lightbulb switching on mood of late and that in itself takes time and energy. I think its all the courses, which are all coming to an end - the discussion, the challenges, making new friends, reading suggested books (psychology slanted stuff) etc. I am feeling fairly self confident and far less anxious than I have done for a long time. :j :jIt's a good feeling and almost takes some getting used to - if that makes sense??
This is the first year I haven't.... sent my sister a birthday card or made plans to visit my parents/sister this summer and so far feeling ok about it. Sister's wedding is next weekend and I do feel sad though that we are not going even though it is our choice. I doubt she will ever understand why or forgive me but who knows.
:AAlso wanted to say thanks for all the support I have had over the last few months with family issues and problems with my training colleagues. You have been unbelievably wonderful and I am in a different, far more positive place now. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.:A
I need to put some of the deep thinking to one side for a little while now though and reconnect with lots of folk and do lots of practical things like holiday prep. I've just booked the car in for a service for example - its a reliable car but getting on a bit and I don't wanted to take its reliability for granted.
I have said no to some new invitations etc as I am very booked up til we go away and need to save a little time for preps and planning. In the past I would have said yes to everything and panicked and stressed later, now I pace myself, don't feel guilty and feel all the better for it.
Okey dokey, waffling time over, gotta make a list and pop to Allydees before school run and then put on my mum/domestic worker hat. Planning to be very busy then unwind tonight in a lovely bubble bath with candles.... bliss....
love to you all
