  • Vegetable suet you can use for any recipe you'd use beef suet for, it does exactly the same job and there is no difference in taste, If you want to give your roasted carrots a head start, saute them in a pan on the hob for a few minutes before you put them in to roast, it will then mean they cook in the same time as the yorkshires. I sprinkle roast carrots with whole cumin seeds, makes them very nummy indeed, Lyn xxx.

What can you add to cabbage to make it a wee bit more exotic?

    Kale. Mwah ha ha!!

Alternatively, and in the very small possibility that you don't like the dark green stuff, you can roast slices of cabbage with a sprinkling of brown sugar (which is delicious) or stir fry it with little pieces of bacon and some garlic.

Oooooh...with enough brown sugar, possibly even the dreaded green stuff would taste bearable...

I stir fry shredded cabbage with carraway seeds and diced apple. Lovely!
    Normal people worry me.
  • MAR I steam cabbage, then add in a generous nut of butter, lots of black pepper and a goodly squirt of lemon juice, it's delicious.

mix it with diced celeriac and stir fry. You can also stir in a small spoonful of creme fraiche at the end. Gorgeous
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • They all sound delicious, I will definately be trying your recipes
