Vodafone vs a Learning disabled girl!
Comments
-
OP is trying to allow her child to have some independence.
Part of that then is learning from mistakes, and the OP trying to give some independence by using an open ended credit agreement is probably the wrong way of doing it.
Some form of oversight would be the responsible way, or perhaps a more controlled method like a capped contract or even a PAYG that allowed recurring payment like GiffGaff would have been a more sensible option.
No matter which way it is looked at though, none of this is Vodafone's fault. If it is anyone's fault, it is the OP's daughter or those supposed to be caring for her.====0 -
How patronising, my own daughter has learning disabilities and autism. She was diagnosed by psychologists and paediatricians etc. It went on for years and years before the diagnosis's were made.
OP is trying to allow her child to have some independence.
Its not patronizing its telling the truth
Why mention disabilities if not to make people feel sorry for you
My wife is disabled and stuck in a bed 24hrs a day so don't tell me a bout disabilities and she as a mobile phone which she pays for herself
I like most people pay for what i use stop keep using disabilities as an excuse.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
Silk wrote:why are there always prats on this forum that want to start unhelpful arguments
I was referring to my several attempts at asking Vodafone a simple question about the Premium Rate Bar option that would help protect people from the problem the OP had experienced.
you(Silk) and 'Own My Own' decided to bury and derail the question
with silly childish comments and arguments.
you found fault with the way the question was worded.
you even bizarrely questioned whether I should be asking the question on this forum.
you even questioned my motives for asking the question in the first place.
unless you were just being a pest for some perverted fun
I can only assume you did't like the idea of children and vulnerable groups being protected because you are involved in a business that depends on the unsupervised access to these groups.0 -

And I think I anwsered with ' how are Vodaphone supposed to know the user is vulnerable, ask every costumer.'
The ops mother knew she was vulnerable but didn't think to intervene until it was to late.
This is not the fault of Vodaphone.0 -

I didn't say Forum I said Thread
You were taking the thread off topic and cluttering it by having a pop at Lee about Voda policy regarding sms barringwantmemoney wrote: »unless you were just being a pest for some perverted fun

You have got no idea what business I own nor do you know about the support I give to such groups on a business level and a personal level so I suggest you keep your assumptions to yourself. It's not just about the money0 -
It is a shame people have taken to this thread to accuse others of poor treatment of those with learning difficulties when the majority of the accused posters have mentioned their family members with similar circumstances to the OP. It is clearly emotive and starting quite a large back and forth.
I am struggling to see how some posters seem to think others want companies to penalise those with learning difficulties when infact it is far from it. A lot of posters here are clearly voicing their opinion that people with difficulties should be equal and not singled out for their conditions.... Something others seem quite keen to emphasize.
The fact the OPs daughter has learning difficulties is totally irrelevant to the issue and it is a shame it was highlighted in the way it was by the OP.0 -
I have been reading this with great interest and I do agree with many of the posters in as much as perhaps she should have got a pay as you go type of deal and not a contract.
On the flip side , yes the mother is trying to give her daughter an element of independence, but perhaps allowing her an unrestricted contract was not the best choice where large bills have the possibility of racking up.
Also why did the mother have to use the disability card in the first place? There was no need to mention that, if only to try and garner some sympathy perhaps?
I am changing to a pay as you go tariff in a few weeks (Giffgaff) after being a contract slave for many years. I have always been able to pay my bill every month, but as I am a very light user I will be able to keep tabs on things even better now, and budget acordingly.0 -

the Premium Rate bar Option has nothing to do with the contract or T&C's. A customer can ask for it to be put in place whenever they likeSilk wrote:http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=62010997&postcount=29
you were using the thread to have a pop at Lee regarding sms barring
Which is of no use to the OP as the damage has already been done

@Silk to show your not lying link to thread and explain how I was having 'a pop'0 -
Setting aside this particular thread for a moment, there have been incidents recently where a parent has given a child a contract phone without a cap/bar on it and the child has gone away and racked up hundreds or thousands of pounds. the OP should be grateful that it was only the amount it was.
It could have been much worse.
Also the mum hasn't done herself any favours by her post header:
Vodafone (huge, nasty, greedy, corporate, capitalists) against (weak, defenseless, disabled, girl). Come on!!!!!!!0 -

Read the post again ..where do I say it has anything to do with T&C's ???
The thread is about payment of outstanding debt and is covered by the T&C's
You said ....Vodafone can be told the customer is vulnerable at any stage of the contract
I said ...They could be told the customer is an alien at any stage but it won't change the contract or the T&C's if they signed up to it
The Alien ref was humour, which you clearly lackwantmemoney wrote: »now that is just a damn lie that you have repeated more than once. typical of someone like you.

So on top of your trollish spamming behaviour you are doing quite well on this thread :rotfl:
Up to now you've been swearing, had a post reported, had to have a post edited by the mods for insults, accused me of being childish, accused me of having a business that exploits children and vulnerable groups and now to top it off you accuse me of lying :T
Lee posted on the thread to assist the OP's situation, your repeated questions to him about Voda policy regarding premium barring was quite clearly intended to to draw Lee into your age old arguments with them about premium charges
You've asked the same question many times over the years and even started a thread about about it yourself. Using this thread for another platform to vent your usual rants and raves is unfair to not only Lee but the OP and takes the thread off topic
It's not just about the money0
