Your maliciousness is always aparant in your posts, I've came to expect this. The point is OP is saying she cant take the hit you mentioned. Why can you not see that OP had a tough ride recently, used their emergency fund and was disappointed that her benefits were not paid. You cannot ever see circumstances other than your own. I personally think it was more of a rant as opposed to reality that her children will starve, but I do understand that after a period of personal uncertainty and excess finance its a blow to then that they haven't received this money. You chose to criticise them.

i am not malicious, far from it.
but look back over recent months worth of posts, and recognise the relish that some posters took in the reductions and 'hits' that many disabled/dingle/childless couples took

people thought it fine to expect disabled people to move many tens of miles away from their support because there were NO suitable homes for them to live in without losing an awful lot of their income.

dont you think that everyone had unforseen circumstances to deal with>

i find it hard to sympat6hise with people earning in excess ove the avereage income that states they cant afford to feek their kids. the kids they CHOSE to have

financially i manage, but like many others, working and non working, i cant afford to take a hit.

i hope you never find yourself in a position to need other people to be understanding, because believe me... they wont be

But you come on here criticising the op for not budgeting, when she made it clear she had had a hit this month. ( funeral costs)

I think you have made it clear with your comments to the op that you for one would not be understanding.

Why has everyone suddenly started talking about nannytone? It seems that someone else brought her circumstances up, not her... This thread isn't even about her. It's about lack of the OPs benefit.

    exactly.
but they like an easy target.

And yet you accepted child benefit and housing benefit for the children you chose to have? I don't think anyone would have sympathy with OP long term, short term they have hit a hellish month and this month that money meant a lot to them, so yes a compassionate person I sympathise. Anyone can have a bad month and to not get money you were expecting that month is upsetting.

Don't you claim council tax benefit?
I used to receive full council tax benefit, but the rules changed this year so now I pay £10 a month towards it (2 bed flat, East Surrey), my Mum who lives in a 1 bed flat just past Heathrow airport pays £20 a month towards hers.
I'm guessing everyone on benefits has to contribute something now.

yes i do but have to pay 20% which is £4 a week

Oh please. You make out you budget really well ( dig at op) and pay your council tax then remember its only £4 a week.

And sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

Seriously? You know people who would be happy to go blind if it meant they had a modest guaranteed income? Would you?

People appear so envious of disabled people, but only financially.

They never would willingly take on the problems though.

I am on bog standard IB (waiting for ESA decison) and some think I have the life of riley, seem to envy my income and trot out the usual sayings as the post you quoted.

But when I point out I get the money because of my problems/ ask if they realised taking the money means taking the problems there is a deafening silence

As for the OP, there will always be emergencies that wipe out any plans, but perhaps a mutil pronged approach might help.

I have a current account for everyday use and savings for emergencies in the bank.

I also have a small amount of cash at home (I am saving week by week until it gets to how much I think I might need) and after that is met I will be saving again to put £50/£100 in another bank in case of my current bank having severe issues-there are precedents.

Always got many tins in the cupboard and some bread in the freezer.

As I am anticipating a negative outcome for my benefit review I have for example been stocking up a cupboard full of cat food and litter. Hoarding loyalty points at the supermarket & newspaper reward club.

Of course something could happen and I don't have plans to meet it; but I am satisfied for the kinds of things personal to me it will probably be adequate.

OP if nothing else perhaps this month where you have had a hit has highlighted ways to improve your emergency planning in the future?

Sorry, I'm not so closely involved in the world of benefits as you are.:D

However, it's rather disingenous to say, as you did, that you have to pay your council tax when actually you're only making a small contribution towards it.

i received child benefit, as did everyone regardless of circumstances.
i receive no housing benefit and paid full rent. as sunnyone and others like to promote 'martin says.. have 3 months wage as savings'
