You obviously do not have a family of 4 living on £150 a week! And £400 a month on bills? Do you live in the same country as the rest of us? £400 a month would not pay half mine and no there is no Sky or smoking!!!!!

    Council tax £120 per month
    Water rates £45
    Gas & Electric £145
    Phone & Broadband £35
    Home & Contents insurance £23
    Boiler & Heating Insurance £14
    Car Insurance £23

    Total Bills £395

You pay more than double that? Never mind the country. Are you even from the same planet? That's without starting on your statement that a family of 4 couldn't live on £150 per week after their rent and bills were paid. I think that you have a real problem. Go ask your mum how she does it.

Why do you find it hard to believe? The number of people using food banks in the UK tripled within a year, a direct result of the DWP's sanction regime and other benefit cuts.

True, but it doesn't apply to OP's situation - i.e. benefit cuts and sanctions. And TBF, she does state in a later post that there is food in the house, enough for a few days, which could probably be stretched an extra day until CB is due.

A sad example of the way many chose to live, Despite a decent salary, still relying on benefits. No intention of living within ones means.

Just thought i would update you all on todays occurance with the HMRC...

Having checked my bank account for the wkly child tax credit I discover no payment had been made.
Checked with bank - no issues no o/s payments
    Called HMRC.
I have been reading your thread with interest and I would just like to say thank you, if it wasn't for your thread I wouldn't have double checked my benefit payments. I notice that I am missing child benefit and guardians allowance from 18/06. So I will be in contact with HMRC first thing Monday morning.
  • The OP was obviously upset when they posted.

It is possible to budget and plan for emergencies, but then one unexpected expense too many, within a short period of time, can cause problems. The OP mentions funeral & bereavement expenses.

I don't think £30,000 is that much for a family of 4 to live off. I'm in the SE, it could seem like a huge amount for a family in the North. Individual circumstances can give a different perspective.

i dont feel sorry for myself. i have a full and independant life.
i have said many times that i will fight to support the many many that are worse off than i am ( both financially and medically)
good on the MIL and anyone else that can maintain financial independance despite disability.
i never had a career as such because i was too busy supporting 2 kids as a single parent.

financially i manage, but like many others, working and non working, i cant afford to take a hit.

you seem to think that people like me are getting a free ride, conveniently forgetting that for many years we contributed rather than took, and would continue to do so if circumstances hadnt made that impossible.

you feel that it is right that people are supported for the choices they make rather than because circumstances change through no fault of their own.

i hope you never find yourself in a position to need other people to be understanding, because believe me... they wont be

Your maliciousness is always aparant in your posts, I've came to expect this. The point is OP is saying she cant take the hit you mentioned. Why can you not see that OP had a tough ride recently, used their emergency fund and was disappointed that her benefits were not paid. You cannot ever see circumstances other than your own. I personally think it was more of a rant as opposed to reality that her children will starve, but I do understand that after a period of personal uncertainty and excess finance its a blow to then that they haven't received this money. You chose to criticise them.

Why has everyone suddenly started talking about nannytone? It seems that someone else brought her circumstances up, not her... This thread isn't even about her. It's about lack of the OPs benefit.
