Oh PH - we love ya too :)

May I disagree slightly? Whether or not you get the 12K you will still be in debt, you will stlil have to cut back in all areas and you will still be wanting to pay your parents/clear the debt ASAP so I think it is very worthwhile doing a revised SOA now. You will also be able to present your parents with this to cement how much you are changing.

PH - so very pleased to see that you've got your humour. Totally understand you wanting to wait until you have confirmation of the potential funds coming your way. However, as Sea78 said, no matter what money you may get you'll still be in debt and you'll still need to do an SOA. Strongly suggest you start this asap.

I sense the stress you are putting yourself under right now so hugs, kisses, take a deep breath and do one thing at a time when your brain isn't spinning :D

You can... Doesn't mean I will do one! Hehehehe... KIDDING...

I just don't know how much I will even have to spend yet... I'll be similar to what I've already done, but with all the great cost-savings everyone has already suggested... I know you are all desperate to pick my SOA apart and be nosey ( ;):D :kisses3: :JOKE:), but I think I can use the little time I have this weekend/early next week doing other things... you are all gonna have to trust me and be patient... I promise I'll be good, and I promise I'll have a the most in-dept, well thought through SOA for you to critique but not til late next week... There are too many variables at the moment and I want to do a proper, full and final one... detailing everything...

    EH?????

    Wait a second....

Sigh... Mum just put £250 in my bank and is denying it... I told them last night that I was ok, but that I was living on apples til end of the month... I was looking at my account cos my Mobile bill is due (£35!!!!!! YAY) and theres a bank transfer into my account for £250... She's said it's not her, but I know she's supposed to be in the house and I've just rang her on her mobile and she's out... She ended the call with "Well... just leave it there, and use it if you need it between now and the end of the month for something other than apples, eh?"... :D:confused: etc...

Man, I love them... The devious gits...

im going to disagree with your logic here to be honest PH

the thing is you cannot have a plan without a budget. thats really the nuts and bolts of it.

Ive been here since March last year and i have done unpteen SOAS - some poted some not, but they have always been a framework in which to operate.

Without a SOA we cant see any savings

Without a SOA you remain pnicking as you do not have a hold over where you are overspending and where you are not

Without claiming back your bank charges, you dont know how much actual debt you have - view your bank chargess as an asset you are awaiting release.

Ducks in a row mate. You are planning, but without the foundations!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Oops -

    That told me didn't it......:D

Will do SOA as soon as I can, I promise! If you promise to sort those BANK CHARGES!!
    :D

And re Breog - methinks you won't befall the same fate as Jordan Fellhammer no less.....thou wilt slay the dragon Breog and NOT be dealt a fatal blow by aforementioned dragon! :rotfl:

Ok... Bluff called... I promise that on Monday morning I will have sent my 1st letter in... I expect your SOA on my desk by then...
And re Breog - methinks you won't befall the same fate as Jordan Fellhammer no less.....thou wilt slay the dragon Breog and NOT be dealt a fatal blow by aforementioned dragon! :rotfl:

Mars bar to you... HOWEVER... I, specifically, was referencing a rather obscure char from the greatest motion picture in the history of all recorded time, who is named for your aforementioned... :D:D:D:D:D ... If you haven't seen it... and ESPECIALLY if kyour kids haven't, then FOR SHAME... This film is the reason for my Drag-o-phellia, and the basis of most, if not all of my morality... :D

I love how you are all getting so frustrated by this SOA thing... :D:D:D

It just makes me love you more Lynz... Nothing sexier than a frustrated woman... :o:o xxxxx sorry...

Seriously though... I do agree... And I know I need to do one... goes without saying... the issue is, I have about 4 spare hours between now and Monday evening... seriously... I have a lot of other things going on in my life that are really sensitive and need my full attention... I will do it ASAP... I PROMISE... and I know you are all right, but my logic is that if I can get the min payment as low as poss, at the right rate, on a flexi loan, then that is what I will be doing anyway... regardless of SOA... Yeah?

    Or no?

Hiya! I'm so excited for you it's just silly. Parents are so great.

OK some of this has been said I know. The most you can get on one personal loan is 25k but if your parents have a great credit history and good income etc.. they may be able to take out two to cover the whole amount with different places. I think I would be more tempted to let them take just one though and do a balance transfer with the rest. I'm sure you must already have a card open that you would be able to do this onto as obviously you'll be clearing alot of things with the loan.

PLEASE do a new budget for yourself before taking out the loan though so you at least have a rough idea of what's a comfortable amount for you to use to repay the debt. The last thing you need is a repayment that's too high.

Now with regards to the overpayments for the loan. Be very very careful about doing this. Make sure you read all the small print. The companies I used to do loans for would all let you make overpayments BUT all it did was reduce the amount of time you were paying the loan over. You still paid exactly the same amount of interest as if you let the loan run it's full length. This to me always seemed like a waste of money on interest. If it was me I would check when you take it out that you are allowed to settle the loan early whenever you like, and what the penalty for this would be, and then every time you have the extra money put it into a savings account instead of overpaying. Then once you have enough in the savings account ring them and just settle the remaining balance in full. You SHOULD be charged less interest this way, but it is important you check these things before taking it out incase you need to do it in the future.

Also DON'T take the loan protection they will try and flog your dad. It will only cover whoever is named on the loan not you, and it will be horrendously overpriced. If you wanted to you might be able to find a policy for yourself that will pay you a lump sum each month if you're off work sick for a long time or made redundant, that kind of thing. I don't know much about these stand alone policies but some of the people I spoke to said they had them (although alot of them lied) so it'd be worth investigating just for your own piece of mind.

    Buggar...

I was hoping you'd bottle it until after Monday, then I'd have an excuse... As it is, I won't be made a liar of... Bank charges letter will be sent by Monday AM, as promised...

Just a thought for all... I'm really, really sorry about this... I fell I'm abusing peoples good nature a little, but My Dad just brought up the subject of NOT going to this meeting tomorrow for the £12k, and waiting until after he sorts the money and it improves my credit rating, therefore increasing the chances of getting accepted for the money?

    What are everyone's thoughts?

I only have til 9am to decided...
