  • Not sure what happens if apcoa say they sent letter. No proof and I didnt receive it. Surely just sending it doesnt give them clout?

We always tell people to wait for the NtK. Regrettably, it gives the PPC the opportunity to say they sent it and you finish up in a situation such as you are in. You have missed POPLA and they keep their £27 and may decide to do court.

I think we regulars have to add a rider to our advice to wait for the NtK and advise that if the NtK is not received within 40 days after a windscreen ticket, then the keeper should appeal by saying that they were advised by the driver that a ticket had been placed on the windscreen. Could the PPC confirm and, if so, send a NtK to enable the keeper to take it up with the driver.

I am saying 40 days as that give time to resort to POPLA as it is within the 56 day period.
  • It would have been better if I'd paid £50 but nobody knew they were going to plau such dirty tricks. I may have to pay rather than risk a ccj. That would be too bsd..

You can't get a ccj, so stop worrying. You can only get a ccj if you are taken to court, lose and then don't pay.

Wait to see what the general consensus is about this PPC doing court. Even if the do, the additional cost, if you lost, is not significant and you could be given instalments by the court whereas the PPC wouldn't do that.

Just wait for other contributors' advice.

You don't half jump to conclusions...second time on this thread you have wrongly assumed you have to pay.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks for all your help.

But I face the consequences, nobody else. All I was saying is I wish I had paid £50 to avoid all this, in hindsight.

I am in the middle of moving house so I am especially worried, particularly as their letter "went missing". If a letter to court did the same, I could easily get a CCJ. I have had one before, and I know the dangers and the long term consequences.

I will wait to see what the other person's reply is. I am so busy with other things that I can't remember who it was. The response I just had was pathetic, so it doesn't look as though there is much help out there for people who's letters don't make it through the post.

Look, the only way you will get a CCJ is if it goes to court, you lose and then you fail to pay whatever the judge orders within 28 days. As has been stated on here above, this particular PPC does not take people to court.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

You are moving house, you should have your mail redirected, you should be doing this regardless on whether you are waiting for letters from these jokers! The reason is to stop identity fraud.

And what do you expect from the parking companies trade body? They are there to protect the interests of their paying members who fund the whole organisation ? The reason we say to send complaints is to inundate them with these because they normally put their foot in it
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Good grief. Just make sure you put in a postal redirect - you should do this as standard anyway when moving.

Much as we'd like to be able to guarantee the post it's very harsh to blame anyone here for letters not being delivered by calling responses "pathetic".

The PPC "may" do court but in all likelihood they'll just send you some nasty letters. Get on with life and stop worrying unless you get a Letter Before Action or court papers. Then come back for help on how to deal with them.
