  • :D. I've been thrown out of better establishments than that!..:rotfl:
  • OK, I have seen the letter from APCOA (sent to me by AOS yesterday). there is no POPLA code. Just states that I can appeal to APCOA first, and then if unsuccessful via POPLA. Should this letter (Notice to Keeper) have a POPLA code? I haven't received it in time to do an appeal within 28 days (well hadn't received it at all, if I hadn't complained to the DVLA). Does it matter that it contains no POPLA code, as it states I should complain to APCOA within 28 days?

    Thanks.
  • Sorry, I had to tend to something more urgent and so put this on the back burner.

Now that is sorted. I haven't done anything since and don't really want to for personal reasons, but still get occasional letter from debt management company. One offered me a much reduced fee of about £75 if I remember - but did not state "in full and final settlement" so I thought it was probably another scam.

I have moved house and the mail is being forwarded. I'm not sure whether to let them know my new address - even though it sounds stupid to contact them, what if one of the letters goes missing and they are taking me to court? Thanks for any advice. I have asked Royal mail to forward all my post for a year but no doubt the letters will still keep on coming after that.:p

Without reading the whole thread ...

You'd be better to let them know your new address. A claimant has up to 6 years to pursue a "debt", so only having redirection for one year may see you getting a default judgement against you if they file a claim after redirection has stopped.

    Thanks, will do!

Not sure what else I can do. I haven't done anything at all but keep getting letters. Not prepared to pay as I didn't do anything wrong and the fine is quite steep.

Had another letter today from debt collection agency. The offer is £50. As in the last letter they said they would withdraw reduced payment "offer".

Actually it's not bad but i don't have the money and I only owe them £7.50 for the mistake I made.

There is the usual threat of legal proceedings but if they are so desperate they have reduced it to £50 then I can't see it being worth their while taking me to court.

In any case is it true that a CCJ would affect my credit file? If I pay it off within a month it can't can it?

If you lost in court and then didn't pay you would (be daft!! and) you would only get a CCJ after not paying for over a month, yep.

Not going to happen is it?!

Anyway these are debt collectors, they cannot start a court claim!

  • I see there's been no real update on this, I'm guessing she just paid up....

I'm now in a similar situation but will not a penny to these crooks.

Been very enlightening to read the advice on here (MSE)...:T

Considering the statute of limitations is 6 years to pursue such a debt - it probably isn't over. Without reading the whole thread but just the last few posts - Alice Banned does not seem the type simply just to pay up because the debt collector says so.

I do not see the relevance of you bumping up this thread as your situation is different as you are still at the early stages of just having received the PCN!

Sorry, posted so many other threads since that I forgot to respond to this one.

I haven't heard anything else and haven't contacted them (yet, not sure whether I will) to update with new address. My mail should be forwarded until October anyway.

I am not too worried now. Surely if they gave me a CCJ and I hadn't received any notification I could fight this, especially as Royal Mail should be forwarding everything.

Quite right, I am not the type to just pay up because it is easier.:D. They were very unreasonable about this.
