I'd speak to The Store Manager and tear them off a strip that you were being fined for being a loyal Aldi Customer. They either cancel the invoice or you will be taking your custom elsewhere, along with your story to the newspapers. Local Store fines customers for being 2 minutes over the threshold (10 minutes alleged grace).

Of course, as has been stated you can kill this off at PoPLA, which you are advised to do as PE do take customers to Court.

Actually, it's Aldi who sanction the taking of their own customers to court - after all, if the contract in place gives permission for customers to be dragged through the courts, it can only be at the express wishes of Aldi.

Surely Aldi wrote and issued their own legally checked contract to their contractor - didn't they? What a strange contractual arrangement otherwise! :)
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    You think Popla could assit?
My friend has tried them for another situation and they were very dismissive. Didn't seem like they even read/ investigated his letter properly

If his letter was a formal appeal and he just 'told his story' (mitigation) then it was doomed to fail. POPLA don't do mitigation (forget what their Annual Report says :rotfl:)

POPLA appeals must be based on technical/legal aspects - all of which are contained in the most recent forum threads and, in particular, the sticky at the top of the forum index 'POPLA Decisions'.

hmm, don't think I'd have much luck with a legal challenge. Doesn't sound like POPLA could help

Please start a new thread, the experts on here will help you win at Popla. Dont give up, dont pay, and dont send anything to popla without going through the this site first.

If you start a dedicated thread and take the help on the forum you will win and not pay anything.

You don't even know what legal challenges we can give you to assist with popla, we win 100% there, do you think that is by luck or by knowing what to put into a challenge ?

Car park apparently wasn't full, but was busy in store, at the tills. It's a shame that Aldi have customer service reps that won't help. We'll see how this develops. I've submitted another customer query form to Aldi describing all of this.
Not my only point ;). I was also trying to suggest that you should not see yourself as having done anything wrong. Think it through a little. Aldi invite you into their premises with - ultimately - the aim that their goods and prices are so attractive that you will spend as much money as possible with them. Only thing is that you must spend all of that money in 90 minutes or their entirely selfish system will see to it that you have to add £70 to your bill. Is that reasonable?

One of Aldi's pet projects is Swap&Save. Yeah! Not!

Why not simply Swap&Save to your local Tesco's/Morrisons/Asda (if you can avoid the oxymoronic Smart Parking that is) and despite the fact that their shopping bills are £33 more expensive you can stay for longer and save £37 on the parking?

    Bit of a no-brainer really.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

    Didn't mean to offend.
I wasn't aware that I could start a thread and get assisted through the POPLA process

Yes you will get assistance with the entire process, but probably best to post your own thread about it. Read the popla decision sticky thread about what is needed there - thanks

They are coming in thick and fast today. This has just appeared on Aldi's FB page:-

Can you explain to me why the company you employ to police your car park fined my 80 year old mother in law for staying longer than 1.5 hours - despite her being in a disabled parking spot, showing a blue badge, and being in your store the whole time?
In common with many disabled people, her mobility is poor and it takes her a long time to shop. Why are you punishing the disabled for actually using your store?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
