I can't believe Weber Shandwick have made a business out of copying and pasting a handful of stock responses onto a Facebook page all day and passing themselves off as "experts" in "communication".

Their comments are badly worded and sound like they regard everything as a subjective matter even when it's a matter of fact - e.g. "we're sorry to hear you feel this way". I've seen many of their customers get antagonised by that response, not just over PE related gripes but complaints about rotten food etc.

And the way they handled the Halal turkey scandal of Christmas 2013 was an absolute shambles.

Whatever Aldi are paying Weber Shandwick, it's too much. They could pay some geezer the minimum wage to sit in front of his PC in his underpants at home and do the same job.

How are Aldi's senior management so easily taken in by spivs and chancers like PE and WS?

    Ditch them, they're cr*p!
  • This conversation popped up the other day. Ever get the feeling it could have taken place in a cosy little office. Title should be The Gangs All Here.

So there it is, I've had an extra long weekend away, now tomorrow (Monday, Monday!!) comes back around and it's 'back to work' for me, and my mind is only on one thing; What shall I have in my lunchbox? Here's my, courtesy of Aldi, Great Eight!

    1. Sandwiches - ham and cheese, with a nice, thick layer of low-fat spread on multigrain bread. All from Aldi, all cheap and cheerful too.

Go for it - are you going to tell them the phone call will be recorded?

Companies tend to get stroppy when you tell them mid conversation that the telephone calls are being recorded (this can be great fun) - citing DPA and all that - especially when they telephone you stating calls may be reccorded without permission.

Actually what they should be quoting to you is the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000. Whilst it's not illegal to record telephone conversations without the other party's consent, it is illegal to divulge the content of such a recording to a third party, which renders it a bit pointless really.

When you call (or are called by) a company and they warn you that the call may be recorded they are obtaining your consent: if you don't want to be recorded you can hang up. Unlike you, they invariably give the warning before the conversation has begun.

So all you do, is at the start of the call, just say "Please note that this call may be recorded for training and verification purposes". ;)

Absolutely! Of course, they may just hang up.

Not quite. It's not allowed to play the recording, but a transcript is absolutely fine
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
  • well after asking about there parking review that should have taken place in june 2013 , and webber shanwick deleting my requests , finally a reply from aldi

"Good morning and thank you for taking the time to contact us

If you are refering to our use of a parking management company Parking Eye then the review of this is ongoing and still currently under review. Unfortunately at this time we continue to use these methods to monitor our car parks and have nothing further to feedback at the moment with regards to any possible changes to this.

We thank you for taking the time to contact us

    Kind regards
