I have the same problem as the OP, my ruddy neighbour starts his TVR Cerb with a V8 engine out of a corvette every sunday morning before heading off for a hoon.
But it me it sounds chuffing marvelous and much better than a Corsa 1.2 with a max power exhaust.0
