I am talking about the people that fit them onto small exhaust's, like Fiesta, Focus,Golf etc, its these stupid people that rev around everywhere thinking they are the muts nuts.0 -
Like when they stick a big bundle of socks down the front of their pants
and just about as impressive....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -

Why are loud exhausts ok on that note then on larger cars, but not smaller ones?
Surely if there are noise limits they should be across the board?
Just because someone has a smaller car, with a performance exhaust doesn't automatically mean they drive dangerous / or inconsiderately...it's just more obvious when they do.All your base are belong to us.0 -

I have noticed the noise on sports cars where they come already fitted with a large exhaust make less noise, whereas the ones that are fitted more often on the small type regular cars make an horrensdous loud noise......not to mention they look ridiculous and pathetic.0 -
My bike's got an aftermarket exhaust, but it's only noticably louder when I rev it. Yes, I won't deny part of the reason is I think it sounds good, but the flipside of it is, it lets people know I'm there if I give it a blip while I'm filtering in stationary/slow moving traffic. Even with my lights on, and purposefully staying in people's field of view, people don't see me because they don't look in their mirrors. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect them to get out of the way, but it's nice if they don't meander into the side of me because they're not paying attention.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
We have a little chav who without fail, I'm guessing visiting his girlfriend's house, like clockwork every day on his trials bike razzes up and down the road (heavy residential). It is INCREDIBLY loud and he makes the utmost effort to make it as loud as possible.
Ditto, except the chav in my case lives above me, and the rest of his little friends live opposite.
A spike mat sounds wonderful...except ours is a main road and bus route, so I don't think I'd be too popular.
Given that it's a family area, this end of the road, why they don't put down speed humps is beyond me.0 -

They're not. We live close (but not that close!) to a set of traffic lights and it does my head in that we have to keep the windows closed in the summer if we want to hear the TV...between bikers revving the hell out of the thing to make the lights, boy racers "cruising" to the pub with the windows down and the system up and chavs with their lawnmower exhausts, you're lucky to hear yourself think.
I also hate loud bikes when I'm out on my push bike...I don't think they realise just how scary it is for cyclists when a screaming motorbike passes 3 feet away from you at 100mph+ - it scares the bejesus out of me! (which, thinking about it, is probably why they do it...hmm...)0 -
I think it's funny when you see a modded (enter chav car here) with a ridiculous exhaust and the driver is revving away at the lights.. until they actually go to pull away and can only manage 0-60 in 15 seconds as they've just lumped it on a car with no thought for how it will affect the drive.
I drive a sporty Jap import which has a relatively loud exhaust - but it's a V6 so it sounds nice and isn't just there for the noise. I deliberately avoid revving the engine too much if I'm going through any residential areas at night - and I know most who are real car enthusiasts are respectful of noise at night0 -

People should be a bit more specific. I come from the modified car community and it's tiresome being stereotyped by such a negative stigma just for solely owning a car that has been modifiedbattleborn wrote: »......not to mention they look ridiculous and pathetic.
Just to point out though, i wouldn't dare stand up to anyone driving like an idiot, or being inconsiderate with a louder than standard exhaust, but it would be nice if people didn't just assume that because you own a modified car, than you're some sort of degenerate who drives quickly everywhere. All your base are belong to us.0 -

I don't tend to assume that...I just assume they're degenerates that drive *noisily* everywhere...0
