Highet, the problem you've got is caused by a dodgy switch. Fiddle the the switch on the back and the unit should come on. Turn it on very slowly! You should still ask for a refund, as the unit is faulty. You should be able to get it to work, however. Once you've got it turned on, you shouldn't need to switch it off at the back again. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Took mine to pieces and now it's in the bin, turns out it must have been dropped as the bottom of the case was smashed and the power supply was floating around freely inside and had made contact with one of the boards and broken two of the very fine tracks, impossible for me to solder just too fiddly.Shame as it seems to play divx ect0 -
I got black one and it's pretty good for the money. Reasonable build quality and plays CDs, MP3s and DVDs well.
However, two minor complaints:
The annoying buzz that comes from the unit when it's on.
No DivX - what exactly does it mean when it says it is MPEG4 compatible?0 -
Well for some reason they are insisting on a photo and as Ive sent them one 3 times now and they still say they haven't received one. I then sent them an e-mail asking why they need a photo and that Id rather they collected it anyway.
I got a phone call from a smarmy know it all who tried to talk to me like I was a five year old, saying they need a photo to prove to the Inland revenue the refund was legit, complete rubbish, and refused to acknowledge it was really to find out if I was lying to them or not. I told him to collect it which they are going to do now.
He did say however that the reason so many units were broken was due to some mercury or something inside the unit that doesn't like being turned upside down!!! Now Ive no idea if mercury should be inside electronic equipment these days but Ive no faith in this thing being actually safe or not. However bearing in mind the other rubbish he told me to avoid saying they didn't want the cost of the return and they needed proof that I wasn't lying I would take it with a pinch of salt.
Hats of to them though, their CS seems to be very good, just this whole photo thing rubs me up the wrong way to be honest. I'd be actually doing them a favour keeping the damned thing.

Seems that mercury is now outlawed in electronic equipment.0 -

Did you find any mercury in yours?
I'm fairly certain the problem with my one is the switch. Could be the power supply unit is loose, but if I turn the switch on very slowly, the player comes on and stays on (which indicates to me that it's a faulty switch). I haven't taken it apart yet, as it's working ok (as long as I don't switch it off at the back). It plays Divx and Xvid, and that's damn useful. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
