the 30w output made me go for it, not too tinny!
I'm afraid that figure (the same "headline figure" stat as megapixels on cameras or GHz on PCs) says nothing at all about the tinniness. It says how much power is delivered to the loudspeakers, which is also not even a good indication of how loud they go, given that loudspeakers have different sensitivities and that your perceive volume logarithmically. Did you know that this means that 30W will not sound twice as loud as 15W; in fact, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference!

Oh, and the wattage figure needs to be qualified, too. Is it RMS or peak? There can be an enormous difference.

unbeatable gadgets are good i bought my car cd player from them, they also have a good deal on the 9" lcd freeview screens at £55 i think use to be £95.

Not since about an hour ago. I think they must have sold out.

Maybe they're not, I don't know, but thanks for pointing it out. The only thread I could find on HUKD is this one. There are only a few comments there and they're not conclusive. I.e. there's only one person who says they've actually used one - the rest of the negative comments are of the "they're cheap so I bet they're rubbish" type. Also, that thread is about a different model. At under £4 I was willing to take a gamble and I won't be too upset if I don't have a great deal of success!

was simply directing people to comments from people who have actually bought one in the past!

hey, no worries - I really did mean thanks for pointing it out! :D It's just that there was no link so people here couldn't see what the comments were, so I thought I'd provide the link and a flavour of the short discussion on HUKD.
  • Can you plug the sound from the tv into this to get sound boost?

( When watching films will the sound come from both the tv and the unit or just one or the other?)

    Links don't work now.
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

This is VERY true, and if you wanted to get really boffy about it you could consider the Inverse Square Law, whereby each time you double the distance between your ear and the sound source, there is a loss of 6Db! So it might also be worth concidering the distance you will be from the stereo when it's on :rotfl:
