Mine arrived today and won't switch on - or rather will but only displays LLEH and then just sits there!

Hardly a "refurb" if it doesn't even work

"LLEH"? Looks like it's possessed. "REDRUM" - The Shining, anyone?

Already we're seeing faulty units being recieved. Why don't they check these befor sending them out, knowing that they are refurbs ?

Because it will cost them far more to check before sending out than to refund if faulty, not to mention that they couldn't detect those which would break due to rough handling in the post. In fact it's possible they are being paid to get rid of these things - I bet they're not RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant, and there's a good chance they're dumping them because they're inherently so unreliable due to design faults that normal retail outlets wouldn't touch them with a barge pole anyway.

Mine arrived today. Put it all together and plugged it in to the TV, etc. Turned it on and buttons on the front lit up blue. Other than that, and a sound from the speakers, nothing. The display didn't show anything and the unit was totally dead. Sent photos to UGs and got a refund. Had a fiddle about with the switch on the back and the thing came to life! Set the clock, tested the hifi and all worked fine. Switched it off at the switch again, then turned it on - dead (just blue lights showing up with no display). Seems to be a dodgy switch on my unit. It also seems to turn itself up and down occasionally (when I can get it to switch on). I think I'm going to take it apart and see if it's lose connection on the switch or a faulty switch. Not sure why it's turning itself up and down, though. One thing I have noticed - the operating menu for the dvd player is exactly the same as the Umax dvd players. It plays Divx and Xvid files, too. It appears to have progressive scan, too.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Received mine today, took the main unit out of the box and it feels like the insides have become detatched from the case, like a brick inside a box!
Rang and spoke to some guy who said it was normal to have some movement,'not this much i said'.He told me to email them and to try plugging it in,guess what it's as dead as you like, nothing.Waiting for them to get back to me now

Received my black one the other day and I am quite impressed with it. Everything seems to work fine apart from the remote which has obviously had batteries in which have leaked and rusted the insides. Was just going to deal with it but after reading the thread I decided to give them a ring to see if I could get a replacement remote. CS guy said he will send a replacement in the post no problem. So good result!
