Strictly, Aquashield only had to offer a repair, so that is all GE need offer. However, an guarantee should match the balance of any Aquashield guarantee.

If you are dissatisfied you will have to refer it to FOS.

    Hi guys,

Well, its been 2 1/2 months since I last had any contact with Consumer Reclaim, which was the letter I detailed in an earlier post. In this letter they said that it would take approx 3 months before any outcome is achieved, so there's still alittle time to go.

Its hard to think that this has now been almost 9 months since I was originally contacted by Consumer Reclaim. Glad I wasnt desperate for the complaint to be sorted quickly!!

Anyway, has there been any other developments with other forum members?
  • Hi , My case with Consumer Reclaim has now reached a year . After about 5 telephone calls this year to them , I finally received a letter a few weeks back updating me that their lawyers are going back to court , and that I should hear from them near the end of August , this had been a long case , but Consumer Reclaim are very positive , that they have a good case . So here I sit patiently waiting on a good outcome !

Given how much more quickly Smitchy73 took to get redress for the cost of a few letters and phone calls, Consumer Reclaim seem to be, quite literally, an expensive waste of time.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
  • I recieved a letter from Consumer Reclaim this morning. I shall update further once I've finished my working week, so it'll probably be the weekend.

I hope other forum users have been more successful than me. But there may be an end in sight...

I hope it is not that the light at the end of the tunnel was a train coming the other way.
  • I have been dealing with Consumer Reclaim since May 2013. They said around June 2014 that 100 people who would be claiming would be picked by Hitachi to fill in and give additional information and that their team of solicitors are confident of the result going in our favour by the end of August.
On the 15th of this month, Yes, I received a large form to fill in supposedly sent out 3 months ago by Consumer Reclaim. Has anyone else had this ?.

Well, this is exactly what I was going to post. I also received the form.

I'm now struggling to see what Customer Reclaim (from now on referrred to as RC) have actually done, other than ask for a complaint form be sent to me. I was assured that my complaint held very strong grounds, and it was literallly a case of Hitachi agreeing and sorting out payment to fix the ongoing issues with my roof. Obviously this isnt the case, as I now have to detail my complaint in minute detail, along with including copies of two years worth of energy bills (Aquasheild claimed the roof coating would reduce my energy bills by 25% due to the 'thermal shielding' the tile coating provides...HA!!!), estimates/receipts of any work I have had done to solve the problems, photos of any areas showing damage etc etc. To say I feel like a chump is quite the understatement!!

I'm guessing the letter sent out by RC in June was a load of rubbish, or that Hitachi are now reviewing each case individually, rather than just excepting liability, and settling all the complaints in one go. Needless to say, I am most disappointed with the information sent to me by RC, and have basically accepted that this will never end!!

I do have one question though. Surely if Hitachi or GE have accepted liability in one case, and made a pay-out (as detailed on this thread in earlier posts), does that not mean that they know the product sold was faulty, and should accept liability for all customers who used the product?

Given by how long its taking, and the amount of information I have, the train would be welcomed with open arms :rotfl:
