No I don't know that's why I was asking a question rather than stating unfounded opinion or just randomly posting youtube videos.

    (heres one I like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEhaVhta7sI )

If you do know the answer feel free post it, or leave it politely for the person it was asked, either is OK with me.

I have answered but you don't want to listen because you are a known Beeboid and the fact you've posted that silly Youtube clip shows how obtuse you are. Please either add constructive to the discussion or stay away

Oh and I've not hade a BBC TV Licence, I just thought I'd mention that because I know how angry it makes the Beeboids

Can anyone find a copy of contract you signed for TV licence?

If someone is offering you their service and you agree e.g. car hire or loan, you normally sign a contract but i don't seem to have one for TV licence.

I guess people can demand money without contract nowadays eh?

Watch out MSE members, I'll be sending you my invoices :D

Where's the signed contract for paying tax? Or National Insurance?

Hang on you're classing the BBC in the same category as everyday tax and National Insurance, Seriously?

It's the law that you have to pay all 3; tax & NI if you earn over a certain amount, TV License if you watch live TV.
I was only pointing out that there's no contract required because it's mandated in law, unlike anything else which would need a contract to enforce.

And technically you're not paying the BBC; you're paying the government, who then pass the lot back to the BBC. The result is the same; but the mechanism isn't.

Actually needing a BBC TV Licence isn't law, its an Act. It was created to fund the BBC at a time when nothing else was around, its 2013 now not the 1930s. If the BBC is so great why don't the Beeboids want to fund it voluntary?

I don't, I pay Tax and NI but thats it, I wont contribute towards Eastenders for you lot

You are pitching your PR to the wrong person. Technically the TV Licence is the BBC, its their Trade Mark
    Who we are'

TV Licensing' is a trade mark of the BBC
and is used under licence by companies contracted by the BBC to administer the collection of the television licence fees and enforcement of the television licensing system.
The BBC is a public authority in respect of its television licensing functions and retains overall responsibility.

Law/Act - to a lay person its all the same. If you fit the criteria you're obliged to pay just like Tax/NI. I didn't say I agree that it should still be in force - just that it is.

The criteria for if you need to pay might be different; but if you fit them, then you're legally obliged to pay up.

PR? I agree that the TV License is a load of tosh and should be done away with just like the Radio License back in the 70s.
While the BBC may collect it as well as receive the same amount back as they do collect - technically it goes to the government first to be paid back to them as a grant (as a previous poster linked to). Yes, this is very much the fox guarding the chicken coup; leads to all of their nasty tricks and downright disgusting behaviour; and should be changed if the license fee must remain.

All I was responding to originally was the nonsense I quoted about needing a 'signed contract'; because you don't need one - the requirement to pay is a legal one, not a contractual one. Even if those aren't the right legalese terms.

There not the same thing but we know why you wish to insist they are ;)

I'm 41 now and never given the BBC a penny but obviously I'm within the law because their TV Detectors would find me if I weren't.

I think some members here will find it very odd the lengths some individuals will go to defend the BBC too

I've only quoted this bit because you went on to push the PR again

But its true, the current BBC TV Licence is nothing more than a forced subscription and the BBC TV Licensing people class YOU as their customers...............think about that the next time you talk to them

    *They're
I'm not trying to insist they are. But it doesn't change the fact that law or act, you're still legally obliged to pay if you fit the criteria.

We all know the detector vans are a load of nonsense. Just because you can get away with something doesn't make it right - as proven by the fact that the TV License charge is still being levied. I could very easily get away with not paying if I so chose. On the other hand I opt to obey the law.

I'm not defending anything. I already said that I think the License is outdated and should go. But until the law (/act - pedant :rotfl:) is changed, I'll continue to obey it.

Clearly they aren't, they couldn't even enforce that bogus search warrant obtained using perjury

Are you accusing me of something now?
