This was nothing more than a publicity stunt by the BBC to keep the public scared into submission when it comes to funding them.
Stephen Farmer who is mentioned in some of these articles and claims to be from TV Licensing actually works for the BBC, a PR Team Assistant at BBC!
This was an example how the Main Stream Media can be manipulated by the BBC, just imagine how much this would have cost had they paid for the ScareVerts
Here's a few more examples of how far this went, just in case you don't believe me -

I think the whole thing either needs to be scrapped or the rules changed.
It should be however if you look closer you'll see its supporters demand everyone subsidises their entertainment and they object to any form of criticism as you will see.........................Moneyineptitude wrote: »Not another license thread!
Cue the usual suspects queuing up in a never ending spiral of claim and counter claim!
I predict a hundred posts by the end of the week!
Interesting that you should say that considering you do the same, anything you see as critical of the BBC gets the usual treatment. Even this post shows that you resent criticism of the BBC which is rather fascist wouldn't you say.
No one is forcing you to click this thread0 -

I defy you to find me posting over and over about the license fee with the same back-and-forth arguments and no apparent resolution.
My point was that these threads appear with alarming regularity, contain the same arguments from often the same posters and really serve no constructive purpose.
I think this criticism applies whichever side of the argument you agree with.0 -
I refuse to pay the tv licence on principle, based on the BBC bias and propaganda against the Scottish Government. Many thousands more do the same in Scotland..0

I don't have a TV licence and I don't want to buy one. I use my computer connected to the TV to watch catch up TV on iPlayer, 4OD etc and use streaming services such as Netflix for entertainment. Using these does not require a licence. There is a little debate here about watching live streamed broadcasts on ustream and justin such as NASA TV so I asked TV licensing and they tell me that visiting those websites requires a licence. Why would that be? I personally don't agree. This is the wording they used in response to my query.
"Under the Communications Act 2003, I would inform you that Usteam.TV and justin(.tv) have facility to receive live broadcasting and as such you will require a TV Licence for their use.":footie:

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

It's been removed now.

When I clicked the link the other day it had a "removed by user" note.
I wish I'd taken a screen shot, as when youtube removes stuff due to copyright or similar reasons it normally states that.0
