55 is very low. Must be ever a very specialist job or a very bad one at NMW

What was the job and where was it in the UK?

50 is average for my company, £16-20k, no educational requirements specified. Is cut down to 5-10 to interview.

I would hope not...what a waste of time for the employee doing the job.
That's why not everyone who applies as a fair chance.

That's probably why you only get 50

That the salary is poor and you need to educational requirements - probably meaning if you have experience and a degree or something you wont get an interview anyway and maybe that's why more than 50 don't apply. Or maybe they do not have the skills you are asking for.

Salary is poor? For what? You don't even know what the job role is.

Not at all, they interview graduates all the time, take school leavers, take on older people. The last three people to join my department.

    1) Law graduate.
    2) 50 year old ex-sales person.
    3) Someone who was with us as a temp from an agency.

We have a new person starting this week who is doing work experience for summer before university.

The salary is arguably on the low side by ~£2k, but it is a good job that teaches you a lot and all those who have left after a few years have all gone on to £25k+ roles.

But I forgot, Mr no job for 3 years is an expert on the job market...

    LOL I am a GIRL!!!!!

And yeah yippee I have no job but I was on over £25k at my last job and I know what the going rate is for someone with my experience and been turned down for a job paying £33k as they said the role was too junior!

Every job pays something different and I am telling you all jobs I apply for have over 300 apply and that includes admin and retail jobs that I stand no chance in getting an interview for.

I am surprised that the recruiters are so open with this information, and with you applying for 40-60 jobs a week that you have time to ask such questions. Anyone would think you were making it up ;)

So long as it is a random chance of having your application read it is fair and in effect the familiar 'first correct answer out of the hat wins'.

LOL you can see on some sites how many have applied you know!! Wow!!!!

Plus when I have chased up for feedback some have told me how many they have had and they did not read mine.

I can assure you I am not making anything up but sure you think whatever you like.

My old co advertised and had over 200 and never read them all.
