OP is right (sort of). The Welcome sign is not at a road entrance and is not facing drivers. However, is that a formal, paved entrance next to the sign, or is it another (walked on) unofficial entrance to the site?
hi the part by the sign in not paved . so they must have gave up with the idea , after installing the entrance "welcome' and exit 'goodbye' sign.0 -
It is not just the trip hazard, it is a fast corner that goes around to the right. toward the supermarket.
can anyone make a suggestion?
Should i try contact the council to do the job of a supermarket health and safety officer?
anyone know of the (uk) department i should try first?0 -
The sign is pointing like that because some idiot has pushed it round on its pole! It was originally put there for the drivers!
The most likely solution to this would be to extend the railings on this side of the road however that may not be under the control of the supermarket. If the supermarket has provided a safe crossing point there is a limit to the extent they should be expected to protect idiots from their own laziness.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
If you want to contact someone the best place is the council highways department and say that this unofficial crossing is potentially unsafe - they may contact the landowner with a view to getting it blocked off.Adventure before Dementia!0

You are wrong jumping to conclusions.
Because the sign says on the "goodbye" side says something along the lines: trolleys are not functional /allowed past this point.
i doubt they would say that to a driver.0 -
What did the council say when you contacted them?
You have contacted them haven't you?
That was the advice you got from Tesco when you reported the issue, wasn't it?
Oh, and by the way... there is no consumer rights issue here.
You have posted this on the wrong board.
It should be on Praise, Vent & Warnings.0 -
Could they just put a sign up saying "look where you are going and try to take some responsibilty in your life" or would that be a bit mean?0

They will have put that because some people will be either dim enough to try and push a trolley out that way, or alternatively try and steal it, and there will be signs going round the area.
As for the sign, it's been moved round. Possibly nudged by a truck or maybe moved by someone / people.0 -
Without seeing an over-head plan of the site, this appears to be a council and highways matter. It strikes me as unlikely that Tesco would forget to build a pedestrian entrance.0
