Davesnave, I've had all three plants for about six years now and they all scramble up one big piece of heavy duty mesh together but the resultant seeds still seem to produce three distinct colours although I did expect them to just end up as a mid range pink..I lurk on here a lot, it's a great thread. I've just been told that my lovely perennial Lobelia is a 'Lobelia Siphilitica' which seems a really unfortunate name!

Strong Easterly wind this morning, lots of white horses on the bay, the boats on the moorings are tossing around crazy. OH brought Ruddy Duck up on Sunday, and now is working on getting her settled in the field ready for the winter. He's very relieved she's up, as the moorings aren't very sheltered when we have an East wind! Always feel a bit sad when she comes out of the water... They only managed about 3 or 4 races this year too. :( Mainly due to not good weather.

Excellent! This means my friend's plant is likely to produce true progeny as well. :D

That's the best news I've had.:) It's been 'one of those days,'

The first hour or two was chaos, with two window companies here to measure up/discuss, and two deliveries of heavy materials to be unloaded in three places.....and a couple of the dumpy bags contained the wrong stuff.

In the middle of this general melee, an eco energy company 'phoned, but as their name was similar to the glazing company we'd just been talking to, and as the woman sounded similar - they both had one of those voices that goes up like a question at the end of every sentence! :rotfl:- we got our wires very crossed.....

At that point the delivery driver was banging on the back door saying "Where shall I put the chippings? - I'm stuck, can't get any further!" and I was wondering why I was talking to the window woman about boilers......

To cut a long story short, the eco company got the push and the chippings were swapped. One, or possibly two of the 5 tonnes actually ended up where we wanted them. If I hadn't agreed to take the delivery after the Bank Holiday, all would have been quite different, as the land was dry last week.

Oh and my cement mixer, which is only 27 years old, needs its belt tightened, but until I can get the safety bits off, I can't do that. 90 minutes so far, and counting......:(

Hoping alfie signs in with a positive update tonight.:A

Oh Dave, sounds like quite a day!

Alfie, I hope that your mum is on the mend

Chickens are terrifying  I was all set to get some for our garden and then I chicken sat and I am amazed I survived the week :rotfl:

It has been a really tough few days here. Today in the midst of all the ongoing drama I slunk out into the garden and planted a few bulbs which perked me up :D

    That's the skip filled :)

I think I must be a yo-yo hoarder as I need a skip every six months.

Well done Dave - you are moving on a apace.

Hope things are easier Rummer. Nice to plant bulbs.

Glorious here again. Didn't do much either, but potter.
Went down to the bottom of the water fall & saw all the huge rocks that have come down, plus three trees. Found a badger den half way up the gorge, hadn't realised they are down there.

Feel jiggered, so off to my pit.

Well, maybe, but as the weather isn't looking like settling, we're considering alternatives to pulling the kitchen roof off now. :(

If we go with new windows and doors instead, that just means a few holes in the walls! :rotfl:

There's the added bonus that replacing the wooden French doors in the living room will cut draughts and keep us warmer in the winter too.

None of our 'old' 2008 vintage UPVC windows or doors is being wasted, as we're shifting them to new locations. The 'man cave' now has one window from the kitchen and one from the garage. In due course it will get the side door we're turning into a new front door. :D

Hoping things will ease for you soon. :)

I must admit I'm not strong on bulbs, but the folks here planted loadsa daffs in the hedgerow opposite and along the lane, which certainly cheer things in spring.

I think maybe I could plant a few along the stream, as it's open to the light more at that time of year. I put in some snowdrops last May, so that's a start.

The stream is running again now. Once again, the arum lilies have coped with the shade much better than they're supposed to, while many other plants I added have struggled, including the thugs. Slowly, the tougher geraniums and similar plants are bulking up a bit, but it's a drawn-out process.
