We had a large amount of our kitchen ceiling (under bath) come down in old home. Fortunately we were out purchasing a barbie at the time, otherwise OH might well have been under it when it went. The hole in ceiling is still there - insurance not interested. Whole house is a do-er upper, so we're not that bothered now. I imagine whoever buys it will totally replaster, and may well do a lot of changes too. Just need to get the rest of our stuff out! Eeek the thought makes me shiver.0

Busy on here today! We were forecast rain, but it turned out to be a pleasant day, hence my absence.
CTC, I think FK has said it all really.:A
As you know from my PM, we had issues here because of the things the previous owners allowed to happen. People don't like change, especially if it impacts on their freedom, so it's futile arguing with them. You just have to curb their excesses by the best route for you and your pocket.
Personally, I don't think the footpath is that bad a feature. Many of us have roads & tracks abutting our land; but we may also have complete barriers in place, meaning that there's little or no chance of dogs, or their owners, straying.
It will take time, but there's no reason why you shouldn't eventually have a boundary like the one between our garden and the private lane owned by the barn conversion complex. That thick hedge stands about 2.5 - 3metres tall, so none of the many dogs walked up there daily ever comes through.
It's not the same when I leave the gate open for a visitor though!0 -
oh my goodness LIR !! thats some collapse BUT... ditto i like the beams ! what happened with the "space" above that room ? or did that come down with ? CHOILLE... poor you, sounds like you need to take care, difficult with your itinery but try to....0

this is an add ive seen f6r a cat... alfie fodder or what
! Free to good home,***** is a healthy 3 year old with no fear, four paws of fury and some homophagic tendencies. She’s been ousted from her current home for bullying and the sin of leaping
dramatically through house windows. Usually at night.
With squeaking things. Which she then lets go of.
As well as SWAT-style home invasions, ***** specializes in decimating problem rabbit and mouse populations, clearing out cobwebs (from the nooks and crannies in the house you didn’t even know you had) and the production of an impressive quantity of fluff. Her next human victim may well consider utilizing this. A hobby in spinning and weaving, or a sideline in exotic felting perhaps. I’ve no idea what the TOG rating of cat fur is, but the volume alone must be worth something. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
HAHAHA what an ad Alfie.. cat with attitude. should be some fun and games, and never a dull moment with that one..
Don't get me wrong not all the walkers/dog owners are ..twonks... BUT the odd few are bloody annoying and think tis their god given right to do what ever they want
The slowly, slowly route is the best way.. we put the signs up a few weeks ago, so we will not do anything now for a bit,
thanks for the heads up and the link Davesnave... will try and take some cuttings in a few weeks
glorious morning here...
really don't want to leave the ranch and go to work.... that the only thing when I am here, its like jumping between two different lives... lolWork to live= not live to work0 -

Space still there. There boards we want to keep exposed as the new ceiling are pretty old but, sadly, probably not really salvageable , about which we're pretty gutted. Not sure what the widest boards we'd be able to source to replace with would be.
We knew between five and seven needed replacing down this end, already. The others now have suffered. Dunno.0 -

What link was that?
There's a link at the end of my PM, but that seems to go to a vet forum, probably because I was searching for jabs info for the kittens.....No idea how it got there!! Wasn't meant to be there.
I would be filling in all the hedge gaps, cheapest way possible. The quickest way would be buddleia or elder, but they're not particularly strong, so something you can take cuttings of that's semi evergreen would probably be better....maybe privet (the wild one) or cotoneaster in places where you won't have animals. Where you do/will, its safest to go with native species like hazel, beech, hornbeam etc. It will all be slower than you want, but a beech hedge, put in around 2011 between us and neighbours, is now 4' high or more.....:D0 -
Nice beams, lir.
Thinking about the folks posting here who have land, it seems none of us has a house without issues. It's the price we pay.
I wonder what happened to phoebe? She was going to be first at finishing a renovation.
Edit: You have 5 year old boxes of stuff still packed. We can show you 6 year old ones! :rotfl:0 -
