Another hottie. Metal boxes are too hot in these temps.

I'm just a greasy stain on the floor.

Rummer & all sound uber organised. My ground is awry, weeds all over & grass needing cut, sheep needing sheared & a house to be built. It all sounds so overwhelming at the mo & no spare money which seems to vanish into the ether, or is that the supermarket?

The holiday lets I swill out have been mega mucky which has really depressed me & a pile of bedding awaiting to be ironed in this heat. What nutters iron sheets? They're Egyptian cotton & you almost have to incinerate them to get the creases out - it's a fine line!

We have muckle cleggs about. I really react badly to them & swell up as if my limbs will explode. I try & kill them - so do the hens, but they eat them. Wrapped cleggs dangle in cobwebs along the caravan - hurrah! They make a fine feast for the massive spiders that hide under the window eyebrows - they are really big & stripey.

oooo nooo Rhiwie, sounds as though DD needs total TLC, hope the infected blister heals quickly... with no problems..

We were looking at log splitters in Machine Mart ( hubby's favourite shop)
I know its a lot of money for us at the mo, and realistically any spare money should go on the house now, BUT hubby is drained as it is with doing the house, and if this will make it a lot easier to do the logs, then it might be worth investing in. Anyone know anything about this one???

Choille. I know the feeling about money disappearing, and not being able to save, Prices are shooting up, and its on everything.

Rhiwie have you got the link about the price increase by Tesco??

I bought new Pembrokeshire potatoes ,a small bag was on offer at a £1:eek::eek: used to get a 25k sack for £4.99 a few years back..

at the moment It wouldn't be worth us buying large sacks again, Kids don't eat here anymore ( they buy their own crap when they are out in the nights), and we seem to be running around and just snacking.

Davesnave:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: re blackbird and moles.. well at least they are keeping you company while working.

I planted some of my runner bean plants out yesterday ( finally) I put a handful of compost in the hole, just to give them a boost, but was wondering what would be the best feed to give them to bring them on a bit, ( cant remember, I know for flowers and fruit give tomoto feed, and there was another one for leaf and growth)

Choille, Cleggs  Spiders, errr :T

CTC, we use a log grenade and a sledgehammer to split the logs, I've seen those splitters for sale but they seem very pricey and the grenades work well. BUT, they do need physical effort and Hubby sounds a bit worn down atm. But just finished splitting the freebies!

Tesco boss says cheap food era is over

Well, DD1 at A&E now with DW,
while DD2 not to be outdone has gone climbing and hurt foot and forearm (not badly). DS1 has just emerged from under table after NZ 6.5 earthquake, 3rd big quake in 3 days. Think my family are putting in a late bid for the Darwin awards :rotfl::rotfl:

Rhiwfield - sorry about DD feet that sounds so painful. Needs looking at like you say.

CTC - I actually enjoy log splitting, venting my spleen, but not if they're all knotty. I have used an old axe head/wedge & hammered that in. Could you not get yer big strapping lads on the job. That's what off-spring are for? No? That and shinning up chimneys.

Must actually do summat instead of watching hardly any bids coming in - 2 out of 100 listings eeeeeeeeeeeek.

The price of spuds is horrendous. I must go to the mart & buy by the sack when they're in - much cheaper, much more local-ish & really good quality usually. I didn't get around to putting any in this year, but I seem to be sprouting in the compost heap & elsewhere...

CTC, have you tried a splitting maul for your logs? We have one at the caravan as we often get logs to put on the barbie after cooking on it (we have one of those cast iron pot belly barbies). Works really well, though not sure I'd want to split a whole load - we only ever buy by the smallish bag!

I maybe should have mentioned that the raspberries and strawberries are surrounded by calf high grass and oodles of weeds. In fact the garden is so bad that I am going to spend the next few evenings working through it.

We are saving like crazy at the moment and trying to meal plan and budget as we are due to welcome a new member of the family in the new year ;) all very exciting and so much to think about :D
