LIR I'm not even up yet :o
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • CTC what's happening on the maternity ward, any sign?

My first sow is heavily pregnant, her second litter with me, I think she's due by/around Easter. So my boar Winston is going to be a dad soon, and we'll have three generations on the farm again- I've still got his grandchildren fattening up, they are slow growers but I'm not in a rush.

I was in tesco last week, also in a world of my own...I hate that I have to shop there, it infuriates me that it's arrival has meant the demise of the co op next door, and the bloomin new Asda down the road was the last straw.

Anyway, one positive thing was that I am more focused on growing my own fruit and veg, I am ignoring my morals and buying salad etc because I feel like I need the vitamins, but the cost is ridiculous so I'm on a mission!

I must pop out for some materials for the builders, I'm struggling to keep up with them, they're working on my illegal goat shed which for the purposes of the planners is a hay store. I will be able to have a reshuffle of the animals once it's done, it's like a Chinese puzzle getting things done here!

Is the sun out with everyone else? Lovely weather forecast all week, fingers crossed!

So you think you can research and cast?

Do you know a production company who spam a money saving site, posting on an inappropriate thread on an inappropriate board, presumably without permission?

    NOMINATE them now as spam.

No matter how terrible their posting we could get their inappropriate post removed from its thread.

ive reported all posts made by them as they were all identical and not appropriate to the board they'd posted on and i very much doubt they had permission from MSE or even bother to have the curtisy to ask

Have bitten the bullet and asked a landscaping firm for a quote for herb garden.

If we don't go for it at least we'll potentially feel good about what we have saved.

I'll be gutted of we do go for it. I wanted to so some hands on grunt work myself to feel sweat, skin, and probably blood had gone into the place of mine.

Sunny here but feels chilly as wind is very cold.

Dave :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:kitchens. I have in my mind what I want, but getting that across to the kitchen people and persuading Mr BD it is money well spent is hard work. It is exhausting and time consuming going through the rigramole with each seller - I am already fed up and the first one hasn't come round yet

Rummer we were on clay at our previous house and the lavender did well in a raised bed situation. One of my favourite plants hope yours looks lovely come the summer.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

We've always been on clay and always had lavender. It tends to do ok in other places that are clay- ey and Mediterranean, albeit with less rain!

    Ok,

Hops pics for any one interested?

ATM cascade is my favourite. Wonder if it will stay that way? We will get rope up this weekend I just put sticks there to give them some steer. ;)

Garden is private from front again, feels brilliant. Need to sort out back pronto. Going to see how DH feels about digging trenches around the lilacs this weekend. Its too tight to get the digger in there but we will need to move lilacs so by digging round them hope to be able to get them in a position to move them when the plums even tally have to come down. We will see!

Looking good for a good pear crop maybe? Humbug is certainly the best ATM though, but where would more blossom fit on lower established branches?

Last year we had no fruit on humbug but a fruit on invincible :). Suggesting that frosts came round about this time of blossom set I guess?

Edit: I think we can safely say wood stain needs redoing?

Woodstain may need re-doing but leave that 'til next autumn?

Just shows how much further forward you are lir; I was shocked by the sudden burst of plum blossom this weekend after a couple of warm but damp days.

Loads of blossom due on pear trees but I have seen them hammered by late frosts here either as blossom or when the fruit have just set and other years just dripping with fruit.

Apples very varied; some with loads of blossom due and some regulars with few flower buds. Think some did not get enough frost/low tempuratures at the right time?
