The only thing that is coming out of her at the mo is flipping wind lol

we have noticed she is more vocal, and 'talks/grunts' a lot more now, is a loving pig anyway, but she has got a lot more cwtchy, always wants scratches and cuddles...

Would you believe it, the front spring on the other side failed this morning while I was coming back from my friend's house!:mad::mad: I know they should be done in pairs, but I was trying it to see if I noticed any problems....Well, I have one now. :(

    Three miles I'd done.....:(:mad::(

On the plus side, I got permission to 'help' in my neighbour's garden this morning while he was mowing. I persuaded him to let me brushcut behind the hedge where all his weeds come through, then I gave that narrow strip both barrels with glyphosate. :D

I've been weed killing along his other boundary for years, ensuring that our field doesn't enter his garden, but it's never dawned on him once to invite me to do the bit behind the hedge. He will cheerfully watch me grovelling under it, trying to keep an invasion of couch from his place under control.

Not too bright, but hugely preferable to you-know-who down at the other end! :rotfl:

Nope, the car. It was DW's choice, and even she admits it's not the most trouble-free, fun to drive vehicle, nor very suited to our roads here.

    The van springs won't break; it's a Merc.:D

On the other hand, if they did break, they'd cost much more for the part than these two have cost, fitted.

The squashed tomato seed on kitchen roll I found in the office and planted on 6th is coming up, whereas the bought seed I planted on 30th March isn't doing anything. :D

HI guys, I'm a bit of a Phoenix from the flames, here! Sorry I dropped off the face of the earth for a while. It has been so enormously hectic and challenging round here - and hard work.

Now the Main Contractor has gone (not entirely as our best mate, although in the big picture we're happy enough), we have been grappling with problems with the window fitter (we had over 20 windows and doors fitted, so there was a lot to go wrong) and that terrible weather and a renewable energy company that took a month to get back to us..... I think OH and I were really ground down by it.

We're still not in the house, but we are plodding on and we are getting there slowly but surely. Floors are being laid and OH even started painting walls today.

Life in the caravan is okay once the weather is fine, so it's pointless rushing to move in now.

On the smallholding front, I'm afraid gardening has taken a back seat whilst I grapple with poultry! Literally. The flock has increased from a few to, well, almost 30 - that's not counting the ten Ixworth chicks a friend has just hatched for me.

Alf, Betty and Richie, the Sebastopols, are now laying and she's sitting on a nest of at least 12 eggs. Although, she doesn't seem to have much of a clue and keeps getting off it too.....

Easter coming up means a mad dash to Yorkshire to sort out the rental properties in the school holidays. Despite this distraction (a necessary evil), I hope to be back from England by the second week of Easter. Isn't this weather amazing? Life is looking up!

The next time we have to have a new thread, can we leave off the "without the rose tinted spectacles" please? I've decided I'd prefer to keep them on! ;)

As you may remember, I like to post properties of interest to Dreamers occasionally, and this is a cracker.

OK it's not cheap, but if someone was looking in this area for a smallholding with a decent amount of varied land, a solid outbuilding and nothing peculiar about the accommodation, I think they'd have to work hard to beat this:

    Ag-tied, of course.....;)

Alternatively, by the look of it, this one comes with an asbestos roof  and only 1.5 acres, but it's got character and a potential income stream from the converted barn :):

Or you could just play at it......I think this one has had a winter make-over:

    Hmmm......

This is how it's been for the last couple of months https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98410421/2014-04-01%2017.28.40.jpg (like lugging a heavy weight around)

But, on a sunny day, this is the sunset from the front gate https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98410421/2014-03-26%2018.47.31.jpg So all can be well with the world.

Dave, having been through the buying process ourselves now, the first prpoerty looks like a go-er. If you really want to smallhold, I think this is probably the right amount of acreage. The second, looks of a similar type to the first place we put an offer in, which (thankfully, with hindsight) fell through at survey.

After the pics, the next thing I look for in a property these days is the EPC. I note there isn't one for the second property.... ;)

Hello rozee, great to hear from you, even if you confirm my worst fears about builders every time you post! :rotfl:

You're through the worst of it now, but if the garden has had to wait, no matter, because plants are much more tolerant of neglect than animals.(or children!) ;)

Wish I had your youth, and the stamina for caravan living in particular. I think I've worked out how we can stay in the bungalow while our work goes on over two years (with a gap for winter) but I'll have to run it past builders first.
